  1. Yup, the V1 had more forward sweep to the wings.
  2. I've sucessfully "lightened" the deep blue fold crystals. Will try the same technique on the canopy. But the canopy is 10x more complicated shape-wise (due to framing etc), so I won't be surprised if it can't be done well. (if it fails, and I have to totally strip and re-tint the canopy, I'm going to re-do the crystals too, so it all matches) The fold crystals are totally clear plastic, with a layer of silver paint on the bottom, and clear blue paint on top. The top surface is totally smooth, so it's easy to paint/strip/etc. The bottom surface has all the molded in detail, and shoudl be left silver-as-is.
  3. With Unicorn being over by then, that may make more of those suits available.
  4. That----most all of the other screen shots show it as the same dark grey as everything else. Also, the sample, which has correctly-painted stripes and everything else (unlike the production run), had it in dark grey.
  5. Wow, I consider all the Bandai Frontier valks to be more play-friendly and fun to transform than ANY Yamato. I consider the -27 the most fun of the Frontier designs. (Still waiting for a renewal Grace or even Mei's at this point)
  6. Hmmn. This thread is far larger than the previous Super Thread, I think it may be time to start a new one soon.
  7. I'm thinking Bandai kinda "forgot" a latch they had half-designed in. Look at the underside of the turret---there's twin slots under each gun that look exactly like they'd be for latches on the legs, to clip into to lock the rear of fighter mode together. Only, the upper leg parts are pure VF-25, with no extra latches.
  8. It seems the Stego/Snarl is a deluxe and the Brachio/Slug(dge) is a voyager.
  9. Protip: I'd suggest more sanding/scraping to remove the light grey LERX paint, at least near the border with the black. I'm going to be spending a lot more time touching up the black, than I did removing the light grey. ('cuz rubbing alcohol can and will find microscopic flaws in masking and seep underneath, far more than paint will) I have no idea how Duymon got such a perfect result from masking+rubbing alone. Did discover that *all* the clear blue parts are transparent blue paint over clear plastic, and are easily removable. So I'm definitely going to repaint the fold crystal bits, too.
  10. That's because they were just unveiled tonight. And this thread is official Hasbro TF's only.
  11. Apparently we need to bump this thread for SEASON TWO: Really, they should just make Mr Ral the lead this time. Would be well worth watching. And on that note:
  12. The Brachio I can see that, but the Stego just is awesome IMHO. If I only buy one, it'll be that one.
  13. I'll just leave these here. And say "bought".
  14. Nightingale? Then they may just do a Shamblo, too...
  15. Bionic Commando was HARD. Only ever saw the ending because I watched a friend do it. HARD games: Bionic Commando Battletoads Bug! (yeah, the Saturn one---still among the most unforgiving games ever when it comes to jumping--literally one pixel off and you die)
  16. So does the blue come off really easy? If not how do you preserve the black frames? I'd really like to do light purple like his -25S (and the in-game -29 I think) but my Alto kit taught me that a nice light clear purple is nigh-impossible. I'm still interested in getting a replacement one cast.
  17. I sure hope so. MRG Gouf Custom please.
  18. Aww geez, I didn't even notice the canopy. So is it just painted blue on the inside?
  19. Duymon----rubbing alcohol alone? Did you mask off the black? Did you take anything apart?
  20. My -29 took way longer than normal in customs.
  21. The light grey on the LERX is over black, but the black is over dark grey. If you go down deep enough you can expose "matching" grey plastic there. Already been done by one member at TFW, I'll try to do mine tonight or tomorrow. So Bandai really did a bone-headed move----all they had to do was NOT PAINT that area at all and it'd have matched perfectly----as well as matching the game and the early sample pics of the toy.
  22. Canopy news: There's a guy at the TFW2005 forums who re-casts transforming jet canopies in different colors for people who don't like the factory look. I've PM'd him and he's interested in doing YF-29 canopies. We could get most any color and intensity, from totally clear to pale lavender (-25 style) to a rich green one like the sample-version of the 30th Anniversary scheme. I just don't have mine yet to show him exactly how the hinge mechanism works to see if it's feasible though, as that may be an issue with casting etc. He'd need to borrow a donor/sample of a canopy itself to create the mold from as he doesn't own a -29 himself (he does have some earlier Yamato valks etc), but it wouldn't be harmed and would be returned. It'd be best if he could borrow a whole -29 forward fuselage to test for fit etc, as molds often grow/shrink by a few percentage points from the master and he'd like it to fit just as perfectly as the original. Anyone have a -29 that's been disassembled for customizing or something to loan out for a bit? This is an example of his work: This toy originally had a deep yellow-orange canopy, but he's made a light blue replacement. And here's another, same situation (yellow replaced with blue):
