  1. Surprisingly, it may be the reason why the 25s has been so delayed.

I can clearly see how making a new mold for the VF-25s can reduce the costs if it can eliminate the painting job. But would it imply improvements over the current renewal, I wouldn't bet on that.

    But let us dream!

  2. Should have read what I quoted, I was referring to the YF-19.

I did, I was joking about the fact that most of the airplanes in macross have at least one sort of variable-sweep wing mechanism. This is, to my opinion, what link all the aircrafts and make them different from other licenses than macross (in addition of the gerwalk mode!).

So I think that any aircraft toy should have its high-speed mode implemented and working!

  3. To be honest the combination of continued terrible ankles and the addition of the horrible high-speed gimmick kinda killed the whole "cool" thing for me. I so want to like it but it's just not as awesome as the lead up to release had us believe.

Hopefully the 0D is a better release. I want it to be, just like I wanted the the 19 release before it.

You know that there would also be an high speed gimmick with VF-0D !?

  4. I was preparing on Shapeways a replacement antenna for Ozma's YF-29, just because I think that the original ones are too bulky compared to the game's screenshots.

Unfortunately, I was planning to get my YF-29 Ozma after release but the current price is preventing me to get one. So probably someone else like Kurisama could do a better/slicker version of the current ones if he get some time!

  5. I sent you in PM the latest skp files I made for the VF-1. Have some fun and don't forget to update me with PM if you got anything good. Thx!

EDIT: little sanding are required here and there! (the most part of sanding is from the details made for VF-25 that do not fit into the VF-1 attachments)

  6. I wanted to update the status of this project.

I haven't realized how much strength there is in the landing gear vertical lock. The lock mechanism apply too much force to the small pieces and managed to break the FUD (Frost Ultra Detailed) material very easily.

But this accident apart, I went further with an updated design of the wheels. And I also purchased a remaining VF-1A "Unpaint Version" so that I could break any pieces I wanted without ruining my VF-1S or VF-1J.

I was pretty happy with the latest wheel 3D version, and I made the suspension mechanism with a true spring that I unfolded and torn the way I wanted, that was stronger than the WSF 3D material (White Strong and Flexible).

I butchered the rear gear habitable on one side just to check that there was enough place to store the new gear, and it entered in very stretched!

The point is that this kind of gear is very feasible for the VF-1, and would not largely modify the current V2 version. Perhaps if Arcadia want to update the version to V3, they can borrow this idea (that I gladly give them!).

If I wanted to go with this design, I should make the gears casted in metal but at this point, shapeways doesn't have very thin tolerance on metals, so my only solution would be to go to a jeweler and ask him to make a 2-parts mold of the gears. This would cost too much as I don't have a jeweler friend.

Anyway, it was a nice trip deep into 3D printing technology, and I have now a better idea of what 3D printing can or cannot do. I so hope better 3D technology soon!

  7. I have tried a few things but its pretty hard to get that to lock in tightly. I have sanded the teeth on the male connector and that helped a little. I did take the section apart and all that holds that metal bar in place is some springs and and some small plastic parts. I added some rubber pieces to that back of the spring to try and increase the tension and my 29 now manages to stand with the fast pack on but its still not all that solid of a connection. Biggest problem is actually getting to that mechanism with the spring, you have have to knock out a pin to be able to get to the screws :(

Have you succeeded to remove the pin that holds hips plate together with the wheel mechanism with the cockpit ? How did you do that ?

  8. After a few decent Bandai releases (VF-25A, YF-29 Isamu) I received my YF-19 Arcadia and decided to further support Arcadia for their very high quality and the headache-free pre-orderings !

I will do exceptions for Bandai's new molds like the YF-30, but Arcadia has now my entire attention!

  9. I am stuck with the VF-25 I can't fin a way to open the VF-25 my way to the landing gears

No visible openings for the legs to access the rear gears and I have a metallic rod I can't find how to remove for the front gear.

Anyway, I got my way to the gears with the VF-1s, and it will be an easy fix for the front gear, and a little more complicated with the rear gears because of the lack of place in the compartment, but doable I think if I cut a portion and enlarge the gear flaps !

    Stay tuned!
