  1. I have Tamyia-coated both my RVF and VF-25G super parts, and sure you don't want to over spray because the paint is slightly reacting to it (diluted by it). I have coated my Isamu's YF-29 also without any issue this time.

I am kinda used to this Tamyia can and love it even if it can be dangerous if too much coat is applied in one stroke.

Edit: I had so far near 0 issue with Yamato / Arcadia releases. Crossing fingers

  2. Hum that seems more subtle than I thought ;)

I don't have these kind of skills with pray cans so I don't really know what I can do.

What if I pre-coat the YF-30 with Tamyia matte TS80, and would that protect the original bandai's black paint job ?

  3. Ha thank you for the advices Chaotic Yeti, Chyll2 and The Old Man.

The quick answer is that I would like to turn lighter a portion of the wings (the outter black band) just like wm cheng did, but he did using airbrush technique.

I would not test it directly on the YF-30. But as the test seems quiet simple (turning black into a lighter black), I will test different technique on a black surface to see whatever works. I want to try the drybrush as advertized by my reseller, but I will also try to test different levels of diluted paints.

The Umbrol costs only 2,50 EUR, and I bet I can learn some useful techniques ;)

  4. Thank you for the fast reply. I usually use the Tamyia top coat, the low pressure can ones. The result is very good.

I should have a look if my reseller has a grey tint that would be transparent enough!

Just to follow this up, I went to a modelism retailer nearby and he advised me to "drybrush" with an Humbrol emanel grey paint. I just bought it and I will give it a test.

  5. I don't think you'd get an even enough finish brushing any top/clear coat to lighten the black, when you brush transparent coats, brush marks are that much more apparent.

  6. Great paint fix Wm Cheng! The light weathering is also great. I wish I had a air brush too!

Would it be an alternate method with a Tamyia coat or something similar that could do the same for the black borders w/out the air brush?

  7. If by any chance someone is keen to make several "Paladin sets" for the prophecy, I am sure a bunch of fellas like me who lakes totally any skill in painting/customizing would be interested to buy.

Just let me know, if it feels like feasible! I really don't think Bandai would ever consider making a Paladin set, but I hope I am wrong

  8. Fixed that for you/everyone as I think the general consensus is those are areas where there's room for improvement.

I still haven't transformed mine for fear of loosening the ankles, and even though I've had no issues with the wings for some reason I'm almost obsessively waiting on some random issue to develop with them.

    -b.

Don't be afraid, the ankles are extremely loose already, they were right from day 1 on my 19 ;)
