  1. I kind of gave up on finding an handy curve addon for sketchup, so for the moment, I will take full credit of the congratulations for the handcraft!

This is going to be multiple parts, using as much as possible the 3D printing capabilities to not have the model cut in halves but cut where the pieces change color and also by providing easier shapes to sand (also making possible slimmer pieces than what the 3d printer can output by sanding).

The model will hopefully have retractable laser canon, rotating attaching arm and opening land launching trap (don't know yet, but I feel I can take the X-9 launching booster and make it adaptable to the fighter drone)

These are the goals, I will do my best to reach them ;)

  2. Hi! It is still in progress, in fact there is a lot of errors with the line art, the front view is totally flawed for instance. The missile bay, as everyone knows, the booster launcher line also!

Now I am quiet satisfied with what I got in 2D drawings. But there are still a few errors that would have to be corrected later when I will design it in 3D.

  3. This is the Ghost X-9 from Macross+ series. See below the Master in final primer layer.

The production is finished.  Nothing in stock.
I still have the master and I don't plan to recast it again. If you may be interested to buy it, feel free to contact me.

    The figure features:
-retractable wings so it can simulate the launchbay position: http://www.mahq.net/mecha/macross/plus/lineart/x-9-launchbay.jpg
    -removable super parts
-transparent canopy through which you can see the eye-camera of the ghost
-opening missiles bays and 27 mini HMMs that can individually be launched
-detailing of the internal reactors and accurate air intake airflow
-to add realism to the figure that can land on its wheels, the rear fin is retractable (never seen in any line art but obvious)
-retractable landing gears, opening/closing landing gear bays
    -assembly without glue, only screws.

    Stand Adapter:
A Yamato stand adapter is available on my Shapeways shop here.

  4. The guy at Coastal Kits was very nice about the custom order and the plates come out with a nice quality, it is quiet rigid plastic rubber, but still I could cut the corners with large scissors.

I am thinking of gatherring some High-Res pictures to make the SDFM deck or a Frontier deck. But they already got so much good looking prints already I decided to get a few of these.

Was wondering who would be the first to try those out...they look nice...

Now you need to populate them...

Indeed, I purchased long ago a few figurines but they were unpainted, now I should really consider these, thanks for the link :)

  5. I just received customized display plates from Coastal Kits, UK and I have to admit, they are really nice addition to the detolfs!

The customization concerned the scale 1:60 down from 1:48 and also the size to fit the detolf shelves.

  6. I have a model of this somewhere on an old hdd, before I started making 3D prints. Might have to track that hdd down.

I've almost finished a simple version of it, I would like to have a look at yours too!

In the mean time I began studying the X-9 and couldn't find a proper top view of the ghost, so I had to make one from the 3/4 top view. From the first comparison peaks, I told myself that this thing is big!

This is the draft printed to 1/60 scale (with the ghost being 14m long /60= 23.33cm)

  7. I do hope Arcadia re-releases the non-standard VF-1's. At this point I am not too interested in having a bunch of regular re-headed VF-1's, but I am interested in the elint/ostrich/D variants.

I recently noticed how different the VF-1D canopy is from the single-seater VF1s. The difference is like Night and Day, or like the recently released VF-0D compared to the 0A version!

I just can't think of Arcadia NOT making a revised / longer canopy for the VF-1D now.

However, VT-1 and Elit were good !

  8. The Arcadia stand is quite good for the price, but seems to be sold out everywhere now. Compatible with Yamato and Arcadia units only:

    mgv4KZw.jpg?1

But some of the stand adapters that came with the VFs are rather poor, e.g. the YF-19 fighter mode adapter is not attaching securely to the plane, so the pose shown above is not safe. The similar adapter on the Yamato VF-19 is even worst.

Yeti stands are better, and he also have better adapters than the default ones.

I made an adapter for Bandai's on shapeways, so technically also compatible ;)
