  1. I don't remember if I said it, but I'm in for one kit in 1/72.

But just in case that we don't reach the 20 orders, does exist any chance to 3D print it (Chapeways?)? how much it would be?

    First post updated!

    Great and thank you charger69!

I will make this model available at Shapeways if we don't get enough orders. But WSF plastic requires a lot of time and work to sand/polish. The resin kit, on the other hand, would be almost perfect out of the box and only little painting / sticking would be required for assembly.

  2. Thanks, guys, for the input!

I think I may try going with the styrene idea and take the discount. The styrene may be the easiest route for me. I've got no knowledge or skill with how to make stuff for Shapeways. I toyed with the idea of epoxy putty, but that stuff is really hard for me to shape or use. I just don't think I could make it look right.

I am sorry for you, I don't have this VF-19, but if you can take measurements of the antenna I can make a replacement.

In WSF or even steel so that it won't break again!!

  3. Hi guys, thank you for the kind words! Sorry, the pre-order details are there: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=42404&page=4#entry1205067

I will ask charger69 to change the first page accordingly to the pre-order details and status. We need 20 pre-orders to launch the production. So far, we have around 11 pre-orders in 1/60 and 4 in 1/72. Please confirm to me the quantity and the scale you want (and if painting job by Jasonc is wanted) :)

  4. Really basic hand sanding / can primer with the harsh WSF plastic from Shapeways. This drone is having its 4th primer layer, and looking pretty good so far!

I plan to apply 2 coat of Tamyia can paint, then glossy finish TS-13 gloss pray from Tamyia. Any recommendation for the glossy finish ?

  5. Is there an option to have this painted and assembled?

For an additional $35 you get a painted version, let Jasonc confirm if you can get it also assembled.

Personally, I can see it easy to be partially assembled so that you just have to snap in 3 parts at home and reduce shipping cost / box size.

Edited: it is $30 to add instead of the $35 mentioned, so sweeter!

  6. The prototype is getting its 3rd layer of primer, it requires a little sanding again then the last primer layer before painting!

Remember that this prototype was printed in WSF, which is very hard and difficult to prep/sand. The resin kit will be cast from another prototype printed in higher resolution and in resin, which will have a far superior finition for casting!

  7. I don't know if it is the right place to advertise this resin kit, but since it requires assembling and painting it probably is!

Jasonc is making a resin kit of the drone fighter designed by myself as seen in Macross Plus movies and on the line art.
Because we need a minimum quantity of 20 orders in one scale to manufacture the kit, we are collecting pre-orders now. If you want to secure one or just want to learn more about this kit, the thread is there: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=42404&p=1205067

  8. In for a 1/60!

Late edit: What is the print filament used? ABS/ PLA or some other type? The reason I ask is if it's ABS, maybe you can try the acetone vapor method to smooth it out. Or how about XTC-3d coating for PLA? One or two layers of this stuff should do the trick.

The printer would be a very high definition stereo lithography resin based. The result is as neat as FUD material from shapeways but being much much easier to sand and to work for molding.

Filament based printers would require even more prep/sanding work that WSF from shapeways!

  9. Hi guys,

Everything has been running well, and now I must know how many of the resin kits would be needed. so I will take pre-orders for the following kits that would be made in the USA by Jasonc (from this forum), so the shipping cost to continental US would stay low. Price is fixed to both scale to $85 USD. It will be required an immediate payment of $50 USD to secure a kit, the rest: $35 + shipping will be asked when the kit will be ready.

    - Drone Fighter in resin of 15 parts to be assembled and painted. You need to specify the desired scale between 1/60 and 1/72.

    - We need a minimum of 20 kits in pre-order to launch a production in one scale, if this number is not reached, we will have to adjust the price if possible.

    - Most of the kit will be casted in the orange/tomato colored resin so very little painting would be needed

    - Jasonc is offering a painting service for an additional $30.

    - Mimics: Camera rotation has been removed, the Laser canon can slide as described previously, the hanging lever rotates and can be deployed.

    - A basic decalc sheet is planned and would be added to the kit.

    - The stand adapter is not included, but you can ask for it or order it directly from Shapeways for $5, or just use what you want to display it!

I may forget a few details, but the main description is there, and nothing is definitive until we ask for pre-payments. So just tell us what you want and in which quantity of each kit!

  10. Spanner you almost read my mind, I was designing Isamu's Bike last week and said to myself that I could just design the inner parts I have pictured a few pages at the beginning of this thread and replace all the messy metal bars from Arcadia

  11. Hi guys,

I received all the parts everything is snapping perfectly, I already made few design corrections and decided to make the 1/48 scale drone kit available NOW on shapeways in WSF. http://www.shapeways.com/shops/xigfrid3dshop?section=Drone+Fighter+1%3A48&s=0

I am working on the 1/60 and 1/72 scale versions to make them in resin with a highly valuable member of this forum, I should shortly take pre-orders for these. The resin kits will be limited run so keep an eye on the thread.

The kits are 11 parts for the entire drone, plus a Yamato Stand adapter if you want a display solution. If you want to order the 1/48 kit from Shapeways, I also recommend the Laser canon in Steel instead of WSF, but it works pretty well in WSF.

Here are a few pictures of the quickly snapped in out of the box. Sanding/prep/etc will come later but slowly because I am now focusing on how to make them in resin.
