I don't see station 7, but station 5 should be like on the tomcats, at the bottom of the intake / legs.
Anyone has more info about this missile ?
It looks like this is a mix of Macross Plus HMM and the VF-25's PACSWS-1G.
-
It doesn't look in these pictures, but this armor is huge! Nice angles Ignacio

I found a good idea to make the station#4 pylons without ruining the DX paint. But because it needs 1,5 to 2mm thickness to hold tight, I don't think this solution is suitable for the wings. Also the rotating wings on the 25s is troublesome. I guess this is the main reason why the 171 had the attachments but not the 25.
BTW, the PACSWS-1G are still hot on tracks!

Also another bug from shapeways, if you order more than 16 models you cannot ask for extended manufacturing time. So you have to make several orders and combining the shipping to pay only once.
But if you order the whole Vajra from shapeways, it would still be more than 600$ in total
-
You are right, i recently verified my models because a few were overpriced by shapeways. It turned out that sketchup can create hidden lines or surfaces that cannot be erased, if these surface are outside the model, shapeways just would count it as an increase of machine volume, increasing the final price.
I ended fixing and reuploading these and they are now at the correct price.

Updated 1st post.
This is how you can order and print this Vajra:
You will need from Shapeways :
-Chest inner and bottom parts (71USD including margin of 33USD)
-Head (54 USD incl margin of 33USD)
-Carap part1 (45 USD incl margin of 33USD)
-Neck and Carap part2 (10USD)
-inner mechanism (23USD)
-x2 foot (need 2) (12 USD)
-front tiny hands (12 USD)
-canon arm (20 USD)
-canon Misc3 (9USD)
-x2 Front legs hands (need 2) (9USD)
-eyes (choose between FUD or WSF)Total of 288USD, with 20% off this is 230 USD. And that already includes the 99 USD of margin for my work. These parts cannot be successfully printed with a FDM printer anyway or they need great strength achievable only by Shapeways WSF material.
The rest of 3D parts can be ordered on Shapeways for another 400 USD, OR you can print them yourself for much more cheaper! These parts require less precision and should be easy to sand smooth. Here is the link to download the STL files HERE

Though I am not that interested in the AMM-101 missiles, I will probably not test the whole set. BUT I just found that the VHMM (PACSWS-1G) design is growing on me!
-
We can discuss about size, but I think thanks to the VF-25 Master File we already have a precise idea of the missiles sizes.
Concerning the AMM-101, they are supposed to be a little longer than 3 meters, in 1:60 scale this is a little longer than 5 cm. Which translate into a 4mm diameter for the AMM-101. This is really the smallest if you want some strength and room to make attachments.
1) When discussing with chyll2, we decided to go with the cheapest way, but still having the option to have the camera and clear tip in the design. The pack of 18 missiles would be around 20 USD when printed in WSF and FUD for the clear tips.
2) I also included at the rear of the missile inside the thrust a 0.7mm x 4mm hole so you can insret a steel wire to make a flying missile for a dioramas.

I must have one of these... eventually...
I am working on a feasible way to make it ... a lot cheaper than the current Shapeways price of 757 USD (which is approx 600 USD with extended or the 20% promo code). The idea is to point out the biggest and most expensive parts and to make them available in STL format so you can print them with your own FDM printer. FDM prints are cheap! Making so, would shave about 300 USD from the price.
Still a few parts will need the strength, flexibility of Shapeways' WSF and its ability to make precise pre-drilled holes.
And don't hesitate to ask me any questions if you could be interested.

Just stumbled onto this thread, but does anyone know of a reprolabel maker, other than Reprolabels, that specializes in Macross decal sheets? I have a couple of Masterpiece jets, Skywarp and Ramjet, but they look too plain without some detailed decals to make them look as sharp as my YF-19.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
What about grabbing on eBay a few leftovers of decals from 1:72 modern aircrafts ?

You are so lucky to have these 2! Also skilled and determined to be that lucky too

It's actually brass! But gold was what i was looking for and it fits the looks just fine.
As for brand, it's Model Master Brass laquer, non-buffing metalizer. For airbrush only, it says on the label.
Very appreciated, guess I should try it even if I am planning to use a classic brush!

Pretty busy night thanks to a new Shapeways delivery.
had time to almost finish assembling this high mobility Vajra and I have to say this is really a beasty!
Sunce it uses screws and 0,7mm copper wires, it is far sturdier than the previous one. And the bigger size and better proportions make it fantastic! I am really happy of the result.
I will get more picture once painted

I am not really fan of milia great great daughter... of of its red/pinkish paint scheme. So I am glad I didn't have to watch over the pre-order window.
BTW I couldn't pre-order Hayate's 31J, but still could grab one at retail price after release day at NY. Same for the Draken III that I found on AE, so don't be too anxious.
Scalpers can keep their copies, I will never buy from them again!

Yes, this is this part we are speaking of. There is no replacement for it.
As described, this is the closest that you can get without the lower triangle, using this.

You mean the red? Isn't that what it's always been? Arguments for black would have happened a long time ago.
Yes but the cover is orange compared to the red stripe on the Arcadia. The Yamato had it right
-
Strange that nobody commented the canopy cover color...

I am really curious to see the result of the metallic finish on the X-9, don't forget to post pictures Jasonc of the process.

I'm looking to do a metallic finish red on my build. I bought black base coat, then chrome, and then a clear red to go over it. I'll test a part out first to see how that goes, but I can't work on it now until the current project is done.
That would be an epic Ghost paint scheme!

The white on the Arcadia 0s is much better, also if you plan to display battroid mode I would highly recommend both Arcadia 0s and 0A because of the better head sculpt, proportions etc. In fighter mode, I think the Yamato 0A is good enough, apart that I also prefer the paint details on the 0A (canopy painting is accurate on Arcadia and you got more grey shades than with the Yamato)

I have uploaded a set of 2 covers since 1 or 2 covers would cost approx the same. https://www.shapeways.com/shops/xigfrid3dshop?section=VF-1X%2B%2B&s=0
You have the 1st version, the cheapest but will need a bit sanding to smooth out the surface.
The second version optimized for Black Acrylate, I am not 100% sure if this material can be printed, but if it can, it would have a better surface finish. You can also order it in FUD.
-
I have a kit lying around that I can take measurements. Will keep you updated. Just to reduce the work, shapeways has a black, high detail material that would be perfect to reproduce this small part, but the initial cost of this material is high so your part could be something around 10$, making 2 would be more cost effective.
The cheap traditional plastic (wsf) would be based white but because you need to sand and smooth the surface with primer, the result color would largely depends on your primer color.

That's the same phenomenon with the gold on the sv262, in artificial light it looks almost orange but in sun light it's more like champagne.
