  1. Arbit, if i were you, I would try the "professional" sprays (aimed for car paint) For a satine finish, I have found a local brand that makes 400ml cans for 4eur cheap. It drys hard and really great.

Just make sure to search for acrylic ones to be safe from paint peeling

  2. Thank you @chyll2 for the support! I got used to sanding 3D SLS plastic now I use 3 tools:

    1) 6 faces nail buffer. I use Step1 and Step2 faces mainly.

    2) DREMEL EZ473SA abrasive brush, 220 grit. Amazing tool for all surfaces, best tool ever for curved lines.

    3) Dremel EZ413SA 240 grit flat surface disc. Great tool I use to re-shape the corners and sanding flat surfaces.

  3. Humbrol gloss is generally an acrylic coat. That's what I use on my enamel paints, the result is not great, so I polish a bit this layer and make a second layer of gloss coat with Tamiya lacquer spray.

If I go directly with Tamiya spray over my enamel (Humbrol) or Gunze acrylic, I got serious peeling :/

  4. @derex3592 I have continuously had strong chemical reaction between Enamel paints (even dry for 2 days) and gloss Tamiya Spray TS-13... Perhaps I should give a try Tamiya's, any advices ?

The VF-1X++ is almost finished now! I have put all the upgrade parts for sale on my Shapeways shop, except for the shoulders plates. I think I should open a new thread for this upgrade parts if there is some interest. Anyway the parts are just as I wish and I am pretty happy with it. Everything clicks hard and close firmly.

    Haha, sweet!

Very nice! I've been tempted to get back into military aircraft (I have tons of models from childhood) but so far, only got a few 1/144 JWings. The size is great considering the detail in them and ease of finding space but I kinda want some 1/100 or 1/60 to go with my Valks. Then, it starts to get expensive...some cost more than Valks!

Speaking of 1:60 models, I have been lurking for some time the Black Hawks helicopters for my Zero display. You can find a few ones already painted and assembled  but I couldn't decide which one was the best. Any suggestions?

  6. I never could get myself to make a 2,6mm figure in FUD because of the price and the brittle nature of the material. Now there is Black Acrylic which is stronger but a bit expensive, but the last micro painting step is blocking me... I always got my eyes on Noch and Preiser figures which could make the illusion

These conversion parts are great, I wish I had the skills to do as well.

On complete opposite subject, I now have proof that you can put up to 7 people in an octo, including the pilot.

  8. I have tried Taobaofocus.com and I have been greatly impressed. You can have a conversation in english on Facebook with them, they make product searchs.

I have yet to buy something though: I wanted the painted Fan Racer but apparently it is not anymore available. I was a bit anxious at first because I couldn't use Paypal for this transaction and I had to pay with my Visa, but they fully reimbursed my payment card for this transaction.

I just don't see the KO stuff being cheap now. But if in the future these VF-1 come under the 50 USD mark I would gladly take a few for repair/custom purpose.

  9. Hey Tage, this is coming along nicely. The panel lines are really important because it is so hard to scribe them later, make sure to put too many than too few.

Yeah sls is prone to very small steppings. These are not a problem on small surface but bigger flat surfaces like the wings or the fins would become a nightmare to sand if you don't make sure of the best orientation for printing.
