Another display alternative: the GoPro compatible stand (Shapeways)
Xigfrid replied to Xigfrid's topic in The Workshop!
I just tested a new all black GorillaPod, my copy was 5.00 USD and I equipped it with a standard GoPro adapter at 1.00 USD The tripod was rated at 1.2Kg, and in hand it feels more solid than that, all my figures were feeling safe once mounted. The really great thing about this display stand, is that most of its surface is velvet black, so it is ideal for a black back photo shoot. The pod comes with a 360° ball joint that can be tightened tight and can hold easily your Bandai/Arcadia valks. I am pretty happy with these results. -
Your most recent Macross or toy purchase! General thread.

My FlightPose stands are from an (old 2013 or so) previous batch and their rubber bits have dissolved the red and black paint on my Arcadia 19, so be meticoulous to avoid any contact with something else than raw plastic. But if they don't "eat" painting, let me know -
Exactly, as explained here, these 3 are my favorite tools.

yep, sand as much as possible on the sprues, then cut them and finish the sanding individually. Once done, put them individually on a wire from the bottom (there is a hole specially for that) so you can spray them all together.
-
Looking nice, really. If you haven't sand them yet, you can expect a very clean result after it. Make sure to let dry hard before. If you have a six face hand polisher, you can sand and polish with the same tool
-
Looking already nice! Considering the small size of these parts, the grainy paint would be almost invisible

From what I can guess, the missiles come with a standard dual missile mount that can clip into the wing. Then you got also a black adapter that attach around the "super part" arm cover into which you can clip the standard dual missile mount instead of directly under the wing.

That's a slight warpping, you should fix it with a gentle massage by bending slightly the opposite way
-
You should try the Pac-SwS missiles, they are very simple to polish. And Shapeways is offering free shipping on all orders >25$ !

Arcadia Premium Finish Max and Miria 1/60 Super VF-1J
Xigfrid replied to davidwhangchoi's topic in Toys
Now we know where went the extra cash from the increase of price of both the Roy VF-1S and Roy VF-1S Premium finish... Enough with all that and make a proper V3 at least, with all tampo as standard finish... -
@spanner I didn't realized that you were the owner of this painted figure, lucky you: it is a beauty !

@Mommar you are right about the AMM-11250 (I think that's their correct name), they supposedly are the same length than the AMM 101 to fit the same dual or single pylons. But as @chyll2 nailed down the really reason why I dislike the AMM-101, is that they are small and require a lot of preparing work because of their small size. I didn't have any request for the triangular missiles so I made them up to my taste: I preferred for my own sanity to make them longer and call them TMM 201 so I have only 6 missiles to paint instead of 12. They can be mounted on single pylons and still be displayed as if they have the exact same length as 6x "real" AMM-11250 on a dual pylon.

You should clean the drop once dry, spray with grey primer then sand the primer. Normally you should be good with a smooth surface. About the warping, that's really weird: WSF is really strong material and heat resistant up to 90° or so: even under high temperature it should not warp. Can you take closer pictures of the warping? Was it arrived like this or did they warp during the drying period ?

Actually the 31A pod is eye catching, I will be looking this thread, particularly on Mondays now

Nice! Just be careful to remove the excess of future inside the mounting holes of the missiles body. With a small bit of paper or cotton bud
-
Super glue works pretty well with FUD. On the other hand, I mixed it with baby powder to obtain a mixture that can be used with WSF. They dry fast and keep things together well. If you want better result you can also use Bi-component epoxy glue. I have always have some around but I am not really fan of the 24h drying time, and that's the one marketed as a "30min"
-
I don't know what happened, but once I registered the item it went from 32400 jpy up to 40000 jpy. I proceeded anyway with SAL option, probably I can cancel the order if SAL is not available ? That's my first time with Mandarake
-
You probably can, but the FUD tips will need very little polishing to be smooth. For these missiles, I would prepare the WSF parts first, paint the tips on the sprues (metallic on the inside of the camera to have them to reflect nicely the light), then cut them from the sprue and assemble them with a drop of glue. Once dry, polish the tip and clear coat the whole missile altogether.
-
Yeah I was tired of their notices and changed the model to make the sprues 2,1mm thickness so they won't bother me again because they are only 1,98mm thick instead of 2mm !
-
I like it, the metallic paint is fantastic but I think there's too many orange and darker grey accents to my personal taste. His VF-0C is quiete remarquable.

You are welcome and share with us your results This is what I usually do: attach a copper wire on one sprue, dip the whole model into future, hang the model using the copper wire as a hook to let it dry somewhere that is warm and dry, over a recipient / carton to collect the dripping future.
