In fact that would be a direct recast of shapeways wsf parts. That means the parts will need to be sanded and drilled, but being in resin, this would be 3x times easier If the first recast sells well, a renewal (v2?) can be imagined of course. I am planing to model a few parts optimized for resin for instance and why not recasting the complete wings by then.

That Vf-1X++ is really amazing, your white painting is faultless, the larger wings. Did you use Kurisama's head or Frameout's? Together with @valhary, we are preparing a resin copy of this project that will be a great alternative to shapeways parts. So hopefully we will see more of these VF-1X++ in the future

I was curious and decided to have one of these strike pack since a few VF-1 are missing their supers. They are not particularly cheap considering these are KO stuff. I will try to make a quick review

Hey great painting there! Who's one is it, is it a personal copy?

Arcadia wings are completely floppy, the Bandai's ones have a kind of mechanism with stop point where you can guess that the wing is in the correct position. But none of the two systems is convincing I admit

I can imagine that the longer nose can be accommodated for a real dual canopy and the heat shield can be elongated. Btw that's the way to make a great VF-1D

According to this video extract, the Kai's blue has the same Hue as the classic 31J but it is slightly more saturated and darker. This confirms the general consensus that the Kai is darker.

That's how I sadly understand it.

Nice find. That could explain why Arad's 31 was delayed so far. Just to make sure the armored pack fits the mold

vf-31 siegfried WIP: Alternate Weapons Pods for VF-31
Xigfrid replied to Sanity is Optional's topic in The Workshop!
Haha I am with you about the late shapeways delivery, mine haven't finished printing yet... that's my longest wait ever for an order from shapeways. Probably because of the great discount last week they had a rush with orders. -

Would be happy with STL or even happier with SKP version. -
I am sad and happy by the VF-19 design being duplicated to the YF-19. I am sad because Bandai decided to milk the mold instead of making upgrades to the VF-19 molds, and the YF-19 is an unique and beautiful bird, it should never be the same as the VF-19. I am happy because having a new VF-19 means that Bandai can release other versions and why not the Adv Nothung! And if not, that would be easier to mod a 200 USD model than a 500+ USD one Looking to the missiles, it is like Bandai borrowed/bought Arcadia's missiles molds. Which is possible because the mounting point is detachable on Arcadia's missiles.

Regarding the babypod painting, I have been watching Macross tV episodes 24 (birth of komilia) to 36 (end) but couldn't find any image reference of the baby pod ... Could anyone point me into the right direction ? -
Probably because VF-1J can be easily used for repaints! I hope this is a larger scale, such as the 1:35 instead.

That sounds great MechTech, that sounds like you need to change your speudo too now

Ho such a nice packaging, you sure know how to entertain us!

Well what I know is that for both methods, you need to print a cheap copy to validate the design: that would be the WSF copy. Then if you want to make a resin kit, you can sand and work the WSF copy to make it a master that would be used to make a mold of 20 resin kits. By doing 20 kits, the cost of each individual kit is equivalent to 1/2 to 1/3rd of one WSF copy (silicon cost for molds and resin for 20 copies). Considering that the master cost at least 2 to 2,5 the price of one WSF copy to manufacture, when you start a project, you start with a budget of 9 to 13 WSF price. Thats the initial cost of course, I didn't take into account the time for manufacturing, cleaning, preparing the resin parts. So, from the manufacturer point of view, it is worth making a resin project once you got 13 sold kits. BUT... resin is resin, it is beautiful to work with it like clay, but it doesn't have the strength of plastic, and 3D printing is like magic when it comes to geometry. I can design 1 complex printed part with inner mechanisms that would need to be exploded in 2 to 3 resin parts and needing 2 additional screws. That's why a few of my projects will always available as 3D printed only.

Did you buy these, are they solid? I don't have these but these copies are known for having cracking issues. I second that the Yetistands are the best out there for our macross toys
-
Thanks! There is no link yet for the Cheyenne II since I am waiting for the first copy to validate the design. Concerning the 1:72 scale, I am thinking of making a resin kit if there is enough demand, otherwise I could put it for sale in shapeways too. Keep tuned.
