  1. On the same subject, I am trying to figure out how to disassemble the legs, feet, or ankles. At first I tried to move the ankle pin but it won’t move... then I tried to open the leg, found two screws but the rest seems glued together... damn

Great. Do you know how to disarm the head of the figure to make the replacement? I would hate to have the antennas but no way to replace them. Sorry for the terrible English.

No disassembly required, just pull out the antenna straight vertically, it is retained by two bumps.

Dude, your shapeways shop rocks. WTG.

I can't wait to see the feet you come up with. You probably don't need any input on this but I'd model them after the Arcadia ones; I think they got it right.

Thanks! A bit early for me to say if it will work or not, but I'm planning to make it look more like the Arcadia/Hasegawa indeed. Below, in red my objective feet, in grey the original ones.

  4. My YF-19 antenna came fine, but I can understand the feeling of loosing an antenna because I lost my VF-31J's one last year ... So since I was taking measurements to make new heels and feet, I made up a replacement antenna, and uploaded a pack of 2x antennas for those who would need them.

I haven't printed them yet, but I have double checked and they should be good to print. I wouldn't place an order for just this pack alone, but if ever you have a Shapeways order running, you can add them for an additional 4 USD.

  5. I still recall my unsatisfaction from the VF-19 Advanced, but now I have been blasted by this YF-19. I don't know if they changed anything to the nose to make it look more like a YF-19 than a VF-19, but it overall it looks about perfect to me. This and the good tampos, the stiffness of the Battroid mode, the "smaller" cockpit and legs from Bandai makes this YF-19 to win over the Arcadia version to my eyes.

Sure this YF-19 is over-over engineered (even more than it predecessor VF-19), but it feels like the ultimate Macross transformable collectible to me. Beats easily the VF-31.

  6. I don't because I like to play with it between two prime layers. If I do as usual, I plan to disassemble it on the legs, hands and the head only when I will need to apply the last paint layer.

  7. I just received the fins (version 3 on the left), now that I have tested them, I think they look better than I thought, but still undecided which version I prefer (version 2 on the right).  I will let you decide by yourself !

  8. @arbit Thanks ! I hope you liked it, you video-junky!
@Mechapilot77 That's a lot to read, I didn't realise that this thread is almost 5 months old... time flies
@jvmacross I hope you will find someone to help you, but probably if you can assemble it first (or have it assembled by someone), then you can just have it painted by a "warhammer" guy or a Transformer custom guy. I will leave you a PM about that.
@Sanity is Optional if you assemble it, you should be good to find someone who can paint it for you :)

  9. Saburo, you made an amazing work for this custom base. I totally want one now!

One question though, have you tried to assemble a portion of the hanger in the detolf? Because I would absolutely try to have it permanently displayed in the detolf if it can fit somehow

  10. @Saburo your custom is really great! How large is overall display? And did the lights came along with the base made by fext?

I am thinking of giving this base as a gift for my kids, pretending this is for their Transformers toys ! Haha :))

I have received mine from AE and the antenna is doing great but I can understand that if someone kick the box on the larger side, the YF-19 is oriented in the wrong way and the antenna would take the whole and eventually break. Packaging is awesome for the eye when you open it but I would rather have the fighter turn 180’ and have the landing gears upside to protect the antennna

  11. @Priss! Thanks for the kind words. A non transforming resin kit is in the pipe, I just have not much information to share for now because this is a challenging model, but if you want a fully working/transforming kit you will have no choice. I know Shapeways can be very expensive outside the USA, send me in PM the price asked by Shapeways and I will see if I can order a kit myself and have it shipped to Chile at a lower price.

I think that the VF-9 is officially the only VF that doesn't need intake covers! Pins and  screws, since you can order these in no smaller 50x quantities of ebay, buying 50x of each screw models and pins will be plenty enough. Or you can count them in my Assembly Manual. Sorry I am very short of free time for that :)

  12. I don’t know exactly what you don’t understand, but basically the small printed part comes with a 1mm x 3mm rectangular hole where you can insert a small sheet of transparent plastic to simulate the visor screen (also call “head up display”)
