The VF-31 themself are 1:60 but because they needed a lot of space for their mechanisms, they have put a straight leg pilot in here, and he is rather small scale compared to a properly scaled pilot.

Hello, I loved sketchup so far but you will be bound to basic shapes. I will shortly take some courses to learn Rhinoceros 3D, which I think should be a more powerful, yet relatively cheap 3D CAD software.

I did try to put a 1:48 pilot in the DX VF-1J but the legs and hands were not well oriented. After reading your post, I decided to slightly change my 1:48 pilots and have these printed. I don't know if they will fit the VF-1J, I will let you know. Also I made the 1:60 version for the VF-31, but I have near 0 hope they will fit as is. Probably they can fit if I reduce them down to 1:72 scale though

For some reason, I can't open the link, but considering this is the correct size (it looks like), you need 1 magnet per wing, 1 per arm and 2 for the gunpod. So a total of 4 without gunpod or 6 with the gunpod. I made also a display adapter (Yamato compatible) that can use 2 magnets to help secure the fighter for an upside down display. But You can just use a metal part if you want to save money on the display adapter

Hi thanks for watching my back. I think this sale is legit, at least concerning my VF-9 model. Just a note that none of the other models are my designs (X-9 included). I will just need @valhary who is in charge of these copies to confirm.

If I remember right, this was the last promotion pictures we had before the release: and when hen opening the boxes, we all saw that! aracadia explained itself and said that sometime the color can go darker after a gloss coat....

Alternative pods: the darker 31A pod, the TV speaker pod (since it has never been showed as a pod in the 1st movie ), the Master file dual strike canon pod.

Hey this yellow version looks great! I hope you will sell well these copies. The resin material will be perfect for fixed pose, with little movements. I can imagine these kits as a fighter only pose, but with the feet able to move and the canopy that can open. Or as a battroid with moving arms and fingers.

If you use the dark powder for eyes -sorry I have absolutely no idea of the exact name for this- you can even weather it ?

You are welcome! If I were you, I would make sure to have the “head and nose” part on the first order, because the assembly is really easier (and more entertaining) if you begin with the nose and seating, with all the internal details and the head sculpt. Then continue with the hips portion just like it is described in the assembly manual.

Hum, that looks pretty easy to fix to me: Clean the cut with a cutter, to make it flat, then glue with cyanolite glue (super glue) a small piece of card board (or plastic card) the size of the missing tab. Reinforce it with a mix of cyanolite glue + baby powder if needed. And you should be good. Sand or cut with the cutter the excess of material, put some brown paint on it to make it perfect.

Hi @technoblue, thanks for committing an order for my VF-9! That rejection was unexpected because it as been numerously printed before. By the way, the rejection only concerned 1 item: VF-9 NOSE and HEAD. I have let Shapeways fix the file themself and I have checked the fix and it looks ok. What you need to do is: double check your order status, make sure that all parts are checked in GREEN, in particular the NOSE and HEAD part, because they can partially cancel 1 item and print the rest of the order. If you are not sure, send an email about your concerns to the service@shapeways.com with your order number. In the case that they cancelled the "NOSE and HEAD" part, don't worry: you can just place a new order with this single part and combine shipping with the initial order, the whole order will be delayed 1 day only.

Last time I spoke with Fext hobby they said they have the Sci-Fi 2nd version coming soon, and to my understanding it would be a different set than the "Starwars" one. Any idea when it would be available ?

vf-31 siegfried WIP: Alternate Weapons Pods for VF-31
Xigfrid replied to Sanity is Optional's topic in The Workshop!
I still have 4 prints in stock, or you can also buy it at my shapeways shop. I really don't think Bandai will ever make this pod one day -
Not mine, I confirm. Hey, that’s the first time I see a physical model of the larger central container outside of the Master file, although I was thinking it was larger. Btw, I need something to store and hide the pods and ordnance, I got too many I think

vf-31 siegfried WIP: Alternate Weapons Pods for VF-31
Xigfrid replied to Sanity is Optional's topic in The Workshop!
Nice to see pictures of the pods ! @enphily, if it is loose in close position, you probably fix it with a thick semi clear layer. On the opposite, I noticed that a few parts with thicker than expected tabs, like if the parts were melted too much, that would make the guns a bit floppy in the open mode. The fix is to clean (sand) the tabs on the middle axe that lock the plasma gun until they lock in place firmly. Or to clean the edge of the rails where these tabs go. -
I have to say, @Kuma Style you made a fabulous job with posing the articulated hands. It seems I can't obtain such nice poses, no matter how hard I try
-
Yeah V2 pilots have very strange short legs to fit into the cockpit, still my favorite pilots proportions are from Arcadia VF-0s or Arcadia Isamu.
-
The whole pilot mess seems to come from a wrong seating position, the seat is too much forward and the pilot is cramped in a very small space compared to what we are used to.
-
I do, but unfortunately both pilots were in the wrong position: legs and arms were oriented in a way that prevents them to sit in the valk. Considering the markings that states this is an "Hikaru", I feel bad to put someone else into this valk. And considering he is sized like a 16 year old child, I am ok with its actual slimness. The only major flaw to me, is the "somewhat undersized" helmet. But still, I am sure that there are some cell that would picture his helmet not larger than his head, or as large as an adult head. I will still work on these 1:48 pilots though and try to fit them into the cockpit just in case that the other release come with small pilots again!
-
Btw I am blasted by the size, level of markings. But not very happy by the fighter profile, the reactors areas look bent upward.
