Most real world fighters' landing gear and l.g. bays are all white to make it easier to inspect them for hydraulic leaks and damage. Yamato/Arcadia gets this right, but Bandai... not so much.

I have had good success in replacing ball joints with body piercing jewelry. It obviously doesn't work with all ball joint replacements, since the variety in size for the balls is limited. Every piercing post is essentially a set of two ball joints once the post cut in half. I loctite the threaded balls onto the post, rough the pin up a little bit, then drill and replace. I usually get 14 gauge posts, as that diameter seems to be the most versatile. What I am left with is a surgical steel (!) replacement ball joint. They did wonders for my oldschool Studio Nue Power Suit elbow and hip joints. Your mileage may vary -good luck!

Pretty sure that Zentran figure is approximately 1/72 scale, with that VF-1S being 1/100ish scale.

Okay. Thank you! I know that the Zentran seem to vary in size so the discussion is sort of moot, I'm just guessing that the eventual Nos-Ger and Q-rau pilots will scale out to be 3 to 3 1/4ish inches, and I would want to get ones that stayed consistent with that. Just guessing though.

Yes, he did. However I am a prior owner of both the 1/60 and the 1/72, but haven't had either in-hand for years, -I'm probably mixing memories. ...kinda miss those 21's in spite of their flaws.

1/60 YF-21 was glossy too IIRC.

They pop right off and back on, no big woop. The Glaug's gun pops off and on too. I had a brief hope that they'd be interchangeable, but the anchoring mechanism for the Glaug cannon is much more substantial, (as it ought to be).

I just got my Glaug. LOVE it! I see what some say about the red canopy but I like it just fine. Coincidentally, I grabbed a Battletech figure from that cheesy line Tyco did a few years back and the action figure looks like it would be a perfect fit. I don't like Battletech enough to risk breaking anything trying to put it in, but if anyone wants to try it woth theirs, I'll send them a fig for free (well, free+shipping) but you have to agree to post a picture of it here. First one to PM me with their mailing address wins!

I'll see your fair enough and raise you an amen. I hope I'm wrong and that the short announcement to sell-out timeline for this one doesn't indicate lack of availability come release date, but I'm all about the SDFM so I'd (er uhm, my display would) feel naked without this one.

The point of the post was to help others like myself who'd blinked and missed out on it, and don't want to pay the steeper markup post release date. -constructive "ouch that markup!" -not so much

To that end, I think it will be a few releases yet before Bandai release a different VF model -until they have enough equity in the HM-R line to justify the risks that come with releasing new transforming models.

Where did you hear this? Personally, I'd love an HM-R-R. Make the gun no longer require disassembly before mounting to the Fighter mode... the less greebles the better!!!

...and then there's an ENTIRE line called High Metal RENEWAL. I was glad I skipped the originals, simply branded as High Metals, and am happy with the HMR's and their current design philsophy/standards, but it's another example of Bandai just not getting it quite right the first time. That can make a fella a little skittish about jumping onto a new line with both feet as it were.
