  1. I've had the same thing happen to me. I've also had entire chunks of articles I've written wind-up in eBay descriptions as well.
  2. Crazy beautiful work, man! Now you just need to add John's upcoming project to the diorama...
  3. Squeee!
  4. Wow... Nice to see that they still exist out there somewhere, though!
  5. A friend of mine who has one disassembled it and compared it to the classic 1/55 Valk toys, and found that it appeared rather likely that Matchbox reverse-engineered their "Veritech" from 1/55 samples, because the Matchbox item has a number of features and details unique to the 1/55 toy that probably wouldn't have occurred had Matchbox been working from line-art references instead. Note that in the advertisement the legs look VERY similar to 1/55 legs, but larger (with the landing gear simplified), and the gunpod that includes the added scope/trigger found on the 1/55's gunpod. He also noted that might explain the 1J head with 1S guns - that the designers probably accidentally mixed-up the dis-assembled parts when they were mocking up the head. Most-likely, Matchbox simple found the fully-transformable toy to be too expensive to manufacture, or was behind schedule in developing it and decided to just go with the fighter-plane version instead. They already had numerous actual 'robots' in the line already - what's one less... especially if you don't actually understand the significance of the robot or the context it appears in within the property?
  6. Waiting on preorders for the Light Missile Carrier type! Need more Regults!
  7. I took a shot of my Yamato Milia Q-Rau with one of the classic Takatoku/Bandai 1/55 Valkyries, and they size nicely together. Wonderfully massive toys:
  8. Perhaps taking a bit of sandpaper or an emery board and giving the rubber tip a tiny bit of texture?
  9. Of course... The animation in Macross has always been an absolute paragon of consistency. I think the blue you see is intended to be light reflecting on metallic surfaces. They're all rather distorted looking as well.
  10. For my part, I'm purchasing one of each - typically through preorder at BBTS. That's the limit of what I can afford, but I do really want another standard-type Regult to I can light up the eye! But most of the friends I've showed them to have also gone and gotten their own. The toy's appeal - and its low price - seem to make it a quick purchase for most folks. Now, more people I know were sad they didn't get an SDCC DYRL Regult. While they're available on the secondary market, the typical mark-up is a bit too high for most. I'm inclined to believe that in a year or two - when most supplies of these have been exhausted - the collectors' price on them will go up considerably over their original SRP.
  11. Ironically, the Imai 1/100 scale Kamjin plastic kit and John Moscato's 1/72 scale resin kit are about the same size! John's is much nicer, though.
  12. Sweet! Nice scale reference, too. Thanks for the preview!
  13. There's also a Super-Posable of it in the "Battlecry" assortment of Super-Posable figures, with FAST Pack parts. A nice little figure, especially with some panel-line work. But it's rather difficult to obtain.
  14. Got my SDCC Regult today! I think I may actually just leave this in the packaging, which is unusual for me. For one reason, Daisuke autographed it for me... and for two, it's an actual MACROSS product! Check out the box! The package back seems pretty close to the previous Regult edition's writeup, but has the Japanese MACROSS logo. Sweet! It's a really nice looking item. Although the photos don't quite show it, the paint is a very matte paint that looks much less cartoon-like compared to the TV anime-coloring of the first two editions. It fits the DYRL style, and also helps accentuate the metallic colors on the cannons, feet & elsewhere. The packaging design also really shows off the toy nicely, as well as the SDCC edition markings and the Macross logos on the sides. So this is one item you don't have to feel bad about leaving in its box. Again, this makes my old-school Macross fan's heart quite happy! Great work, Toynami!

    SCOOP thread!

Following the Heavy Artillery Regult and SDCC 2010 DYRL Regult in their Robot Vinyl Collection, Toynami has announced at SDCC 2010 the Light Missile Regult and the Glaug Officer's Pod. The Light Missile Regult was on display. The Glaug was announced via an information card. 21. After the Light Missile Regult, the Glaug is the next Macross vinyl!!!! http://gallery.figures.com/showphoto.php?photo=1147&title=toynami&cat=516
  22. Unfortunately, we're a very small majority of prospective buyers, though. I've seen it happen before: a bunch of very well-spoken, vocal and organized members in a concentrated forum community push a specific product, and the company asking their opinion later finds that's not representative of the larger collector community. I wouldn't be surprised if future products tend to be Macross products since that's the more popular property (or portion of the Robotech property) across the wider anime-interest market. Still, I'd love to see some Invid as well once the Zentraedi pod mecha are done. I'm just not expecting the Invid to be included in the lineup that soon.
  23. Reports from SDCC indicated that the Regults were selling very well.
  24. Motion seconded! Can we put it to a vote?
  25. I'm, looking forward to some news on the Bandai/Imai/Arii vintage kit editions... something within my price range.
