I was never one for these special anniversary versions. Eventually I'll get that custom battle damaged weathered Max DYRL VF-1S. I don't see why Arcadia isn't making that as that's the only notable in anime valkyrie that I really want.

I can't remember now, but I think there is a reason that Batou can drive that car. I don't know if it's explained in the manga or show. I know he comes across a bunch of expensive cars in that one episode where the assassin is killing people with coins. I just like the Nissan as a small sort of city car. Motoko has a Ferrari too. It's in the manga. I believe it's cut in the new version and perhaps even the first U.S. version. I'm pretty sure it's in Intron Depot.

I need to see if Motoko or another character actually wears these in the anime and if the shoes look cool in real life. Maybe in a black color. I only wear Adidas but I'll wear Reebok if these are cool The drawing looks ok. This kind of reminds me of the Nissan Sport Concept that was in Solid State Society. I wanted that car and they never released it. And I don't usually like those small hatchback cars either. Additional - I searched for more images of these shoes and it's not the first time Reebok made Ghost in the Shell shoes. They made similar Tachikoma shoes in blue. They look kind of gimmicky and unless these Arise versions are better I don't think I'll get them.

I've seen a bunch of stuff from Zone of the Enders. I don't pay it much attention because they all seem to require the stands. People on Neogaf post a bunch of them. Some like GU-11 mentioned were I assumed Revoltech figures. Others were seen at various anime/toy shows. But I haven't seen the figure to get yet that would compare to that recent Metal Gear statue.

Medicom/Hot Toys and all 1/6 scale figures
JetJockey replied to EXO's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
As far as I know Sideshow hasn't shown a prototype yet. Just the teaser image of Cortana from the game. There is also a render going around that people like. But it's not from Sideshow. -
I haven't read the second manga either. I heard it wasn't that good and too much fan service. I do have 1.5 on my list to read. The original Ghost in the Shell manga is great. But you have to get the older Dark Horse version as I understand the new version from another company is edited.

Medicom/Hot Toys and all 1/6 scale figures
JetJockey replied to EXO's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I'm waiting on the Sideshow Cortana. I wish I got the Weta version. I didn't like it that much. She didn't light up. But she goes for crazy money now. I could have used that to pay for the Sideshow version. -
I tend to avoid topics that aren't Macross or space related stuff here. But I can't believe anyone that's a Bond fan or movie fan wouldn't like Connery's Bond. That's crazy. Connery's Bond films with the exception of a few (DAF, NSNA, and some argue YOLT) are still the ones to beat. I've seen some say that Daniel Craig still hasn't really played Bond yet. Remember Casino Royale was the origin of his Bond. He was supposed to be Bond at the end. Yet in Quantum of Solace he is kind of on a revenge mission and not really Bond. Some see Quantum of Solace as a two part with Casino Royale ending with the full formation of Daniel Craig's Bond. But then in Skyfall, he starts as Bond and once again goes to something else. Only at the end to we see him as Bond in M's office like the vintage Bond films. But what will happen in the next movie? At this point, even though I like Daniel Craig's films, Casino Royale being the best and closest to a real Bond movie. His Bond is kind of an alternate universe Bond like the new Star Trek. Both are reboots and use stuff from the past movies to say, yes you are watching a Bond movie. But in many ways they don't make a strong statement of their own. You can't say that about the Bond films ending with The World is not Enough. I don't include Die Another Day because that's the film that started all the references to past Bond films. Dalton wanted and played it as close to the books as the people in charge would let him. Remember coming off the Roger Moore Bond films I think people thought Dalton was far too serious. Dalton got to smoke too.

I was hoping some company would release a finished pre-painted version of the first one. I guess that never happened. One day I might get a kit and put it together. Provided the instructions are clear. Painting is another matter however.
-
Yeah this is good news. Now for the show to be good and maybe an actual domestic release. We still never got the big Ghost in the Shell 2.0 box set. That is the version to own according to what I've been reading on other forums. I waited too long now it costs way too much. Still I'll get it eventually.

Risque is putting it mildly. That figure makes the Catherine figure from Max Factory look positively tame! I still haven't found the Noriko figure to own. Nor have I found the maker of that one kit I posted before in this thread. I was looking for old Gunbuster T-Shirts a few days ago too. I had an old black one that someone stole while I was in school. Who steals anime T-Shirts?! I can't find the image online. I think I got it from Nikaku or whichever company released the VHS tapes. I remember Nikaku had tons of good stuff back in the day.

Thanks, I think. I looked at those sketches and thought I must have followed the wrong link. This doesn't look like a Gatchaman show I want to see. It makes the Imagi version look like some of the best designs ever.

There is a new Gatchaman anime in the works? I don't like the helmets on the live action version either. They look too much like motorcycle helmets and not the iconic bird beaks. I think Gatchaman might be one of those things better suited to the animated world.

I would like a more normal Sheryl figure. I do think this is the best one now. I usually don't pre-order these. I wait till release so maybe something better will come out by then. Her whole expression does fit a bit too much with the standard anime girl figure theme that seems to be going around. Even if it is intended from the scene.

Medicom/Hot Toys and all 1/6 scale figures
JetJockey replied to EXO's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Hot Toys is releasing a crazy amount of Iron Man figures. I guess Comic Con will be Iron Man central at Hot Toys this year. Plus a few updates that they teased from last year like Batman 66, Batman 89/Returns, Prometheus, and whatever else I'm forgetting. -
Sadly I've met girls who accept far worse than those figures. I'm calling them "girls" very loosely too. Yeah, that's funny I actually have a book signed by one of the Blackbird pilots somewhere around here. That's why I was familar with the Yamato TV opening. I vaguely remember people talking about and watching Star Blazers when I was young. Since I'm going to be pretty new to this series what do you guys recommend, start with the first series, the live action movie from a few years ago, or with 2199?

I believe this explains everything. I'm remembering more now. My Cyclone always had that piece of armor on the hip/leg area fall off when I moved the leg. It didn't stand well if at all. The locking mechanism on the wheel axle was always loose it seemed in armor mode and wouldn't stay in position. I hated the sound of the plastic on the toy/model. Compared to the simplicity of the super deformed veritech this Cyclone was terrible to me.

I haven't seen this anime. But I like the idea of Tom Cruise working on this far more than a Top Gun sequel. I think I'll watch the anime soon. At least before the movie.

This one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Robotech-Scott-Bernard-Cyclone-/251249651099?pt=US_Action_Figures&hash=item3a7fa56d9b I'm getting angry just looking at it. Maybe I was just rough with my toys. But this toy always made me angry. Pieces would fall off. It certainly wasn't as cool as in the show. Or any of the Yamato valkyries which I love. Or the little mini veritechs which came out at the time. I still have a few of those boxed away.

I'm sure there are tons of fans of the older anime titles. Besides, they are older and can afford this stuff now. I just watched the Dragon's Crown Sorceress trailer. Before I was only interested in a statue of the Elf character. I want the Sorceress now. I love how she flies across the screen. She even walks like she's the coolest character in the game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7PY63w3N9qk

Sad thing is I can't remember. But I don't call them toys anymore. I call them models. I think the first release Gatchaman God Phoenix from Unifive was expensive. I remember having to buy a bunch of Tron lightcycles from Japan as a set. I believe four of them. I think Medicom made them. They are still the best ones to date. I'm pretty sure the the Studio Halfeye Dangaio would have been the most expensive. But it was too expensive and I think delicate for the crazy price they were asking. And it wasn't perfect either compared to "toys" I was seeing from companies like Yamato and their valkyries.

Why are we getting zero Macross, Southern Cross, or Mospeada statues of the awesome girl characters? Check out this new statue of Rei Yamamoto from Space Battleship Yamato 2199. I'll probably get her. Haven't seen the show either. Why can't a company make a Milia with the red suit? Or her daughter that has a similar pose to the Rei statue in this artwork? How about Silvie Gena from Macross II. She had a cool character design. Or of course Rook. Maybe one of the girls from Southern Cross. They all rode the hoverbikes and could have similar poses. Why oh why are these 80s anime characters getting no attention.

I was just about to post this in the anime figures section. She looks hot. I haven't seen the show either. Probably surprising but I've never seen the original or newer live action version yet either.

I remember my Gakken going for a surprising amount even without the box and not in mint condition. I was shocked. That middle floppy area was another thing that upset me about the Gakken. I'm always tempted to get the Scott or Rand versions. But I just can't accept them since I wanted the Rook version sooo much. Plus, I just remember being down right angry at the first Scott Cyclone toy. I can't remember the company's name. But it would always break and crumble.

Star Trek Into Darkness, in theaters May 17, 2013
JetJockey replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Really, that's all you have. That's very thin. It wasn't like both Kirk and Spock were doing poorly in school. If I recall they were both at the top of the class. You take a classic episode like Arena with the Gorn. That's what I was getting at in the final Star Trek reboot scene and ultimately where the reboot failed. The Arena episode is a moral story that's far more complex in less than 60 minutes compared to the whole of the reboot. And a more classic Star Trek will come back eventually. Just like how the more serious James Bond films came back after the fantasy Roger Moore and actiony Pierce Brosnan movies.- 1020 replies
