Who makes these helmets? I remember some biker helmets in another topic here but don't remember seeing a Max version. Or a TV version. That is a nice setup with so many helmets. Those Gatchaman ones look cool too. It might be a Chinese one. I saw something similar from a Hot Toys youtube reviewer once. But the one with the Valkryie looks like better quality. I'm curious who makes it as well.

I think I need to see The Force Awakens asap from some of these posts. I haven't seen the trailers and all I know is George Lucas called it retro. And worse, a news site I check had the word remake in a sentence for their review. Which gives me the feeling that I won't like it since I don't know who would decide to remake any of the OT movies. Oh JJ Abrams since he thought remaking Wrath of Khan was a good idea. Maul appeared with the mech legs in the Clone Wars TV show? I didn't know that. The Star Wars comic I mentioned is called Visionaries. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars:_Visionaries It came out in 2005. I believe even before Revenge of the Sith because I remember being somewhat excited about the reasoning behind how The Emperor hid from the Jedi. There is a story kind of about that in there too. Which turns out better than what's in the movie. As in the movie it was because all of them are stupid and can't sense anything. I was just agreeing that the guy is full of it. I hate that the guy even said that and the interviewer put up with it. As a whole I just believe it's all bs to sell Star Wars as a product. Before the prequels and up to Revenge of the Sith, for the most part it seemed like everyone who was making stories whether in comics, cartoons, or books was on the same page. Or had a decent feel for what was going on. Sure you had overpowered Jedi in the original Clone Wars cartoons. But that was a stylized cartoon. But now whatever is cool or a good story regardless of continuity or making any sense is told and the producers, directors, actors, etc. run to the cameras and "news sites" and sell it regardless.

Holy small images! Those are nice ones though. Must be old pick ups as I haven't seen those and I've been looking.

E-SWAT is another good one. I remember you have to be a basic cop first. I kind of remember some of the music. I've never played the Tiny Toon or Wonder Boy games on that list though.

I haven't really been watching this show. Just an episode or two out of curiosity or when it seemed interesting. However when I saw a news story about the final episode being called , I hated hearing that. I didn't want to watch it. But I saw it was on demand and because I'm a curious person watched it. Also, like many have said those helicopter lightsabers suck. But it's not tied up well and never will be because there are now too many cooks in the kitchen. Stories that come off like fan fiction. There was a post on Birth Movies Death about it. How it's all fan fiction now. Stuff like The design of the planet and those close up frame shots near the end were the best thing about the episode. But it's Ahsoka, she's a cool character, and pretty iconic in those shots. They don't have to die anymore. No more than Padme had to die or all the Jedi needed to be killed in Episode 3. I don't follow Star Wars stuff that much anymore, I still haven't seen The Force Awakens, but many Jedi survived after Episode 3 and in the comics. Even Ahsoka said in the episode, I'm not a Jedi anymore. There can be Force users out there but just not calling themselves Jedi. Which is silly in a way but that's the mess that was created with the Prequels and other stories. Being a Jedi now is like being a soldier. You aren't a soldier if you leave the army. Even though I always thought from the original movies that being a Jedi was more than that. Vader's characterization has changed so much it's best not to even get into it. After Episode 3 the "new" story was that Vader hunting down the Jedi was an exaggerated myth. It never happened and he couldn't use The Force as well because of the loss of his limbs. Even in one of the first comics after becoming Vader in the suit, some Jedi almost defeat him but can't bring themselves to kill or something to that nature. Another one of those stories where the writers try to match the bad stories of the prequels. I remember she was bad ass. She should have been the Sith in Episode 2 but George Lucas had to use Dooku to prove that a Jedi could be turned. Of course he's there just for that reason. We never see any sort of story behind the turning. But anyway, I remember Ventress just leaving in a spaceship and basically saying to Hell with both sides. I think the comic was a 5 part mini series. It was well drawn if I remember correctly.

That's still one of the best games. I remember how difficult it was for me to get those jumps right on the docks stage. Then getting lost in that maze only to get the bad ending so many times. Good times though. I can still remember when I got that game at a Babbages I think. I didn't play Shinobi that much in the arcades. The box art for Revenge of Shinobi looked great. I thought that the game had to be great with that title, art, and images on the back. And it was. I'm still waiting on the Data Discs to release the vinyl soundtrack for this one too. Good luck. I only remember my way around because I had the Player's Guide when I was young.

I hope this is real this time. I was severely disappointed from the last tease that turned out to be nothing. That would be nice if they started with Rook / Fuke. I think the Cyclone / Ride Armor is still one of the top anime bikes. I don't see why the market for them is so small.

Macross Δ (Delta) - Mission 1 - READ 1st POST
JetJockey replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
I'm still not sure about this one. I'm going to wait a few more episodes, then stop and see if I want to get the full show in the best possible resolution and sound format when they are finished. When I watched the 1st episode, I thought it was just the preview again. Then I searched online for the opening, which I'm always excited to see, I thought maybe it's at the end for some odd reason. Then I noticed the new material. I like the battles and the music is good. So was the animation and look of the jet towards the end. But I think I want something more adult looking. At least, when I was young, Macross was adult in looks. I can't imagine that this really looks adult to kids these days. And the dancing girls still come off like holograms. I want to see more of their story. Get a better understanding of the group.- 262 replies

I played that a few times. The last time I played it in the mid 90s was when I realized that arcades were probably going to die out. I think the game was $1 or something to play. Plus it was over so fast and I'm pretty good at videogames. At least I didn't know the trick was to speed through the whole game then. But at that point, there didn't seem to be a point in trying to beat it in the arcade. And I'm one of the people that beat Dragon's Lair II in arcades. Plus not even a year later I got Galaxy Force II and a few others for Saturn on the SEGA Ages disc. I'm listening to the soundtrack for Castlevania III on NES.

I haven't read the manga in a while. I have 1.5 and the manga sitting in my read stack after a few other artbooks and comics. All the shows take bits and pieces from the manga. I've seen all of them except for the latest movie. And from what I've seen SAC is closest to the feel of the manga. At least it was compared to the movies. Many compare the Ghost in the Shell movie and Innocence to Blade Runner. I still don't get why they made Arise. SAC was very good and they followed it up with something that's lesser in just about every way. I still believe they will release a movie Motoko figure. There were a bunch of items released for the recent anniversary. A figure is probably in the works, we just don't know about it yet. Hot. She'll be a good seller and expensive when she sells out.

New! Reebok Stompers from Aliens Announced!
JetJockey replied to Lonely Soldier Boy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I can't remember the company, but they re-released Ripley's watch a few months back as well. It's expensive though. -
I would like to get a correct toy and see you draw it one day.

I don't remember the first Voltron episode I watched back in the day. What I do remember was, like Robotech, how different it was. Now I understand it was the Japanese animation and how new the style was compared to normal or US animation. Shows like Voltron, Robotech, Battle of the Planets, and others had more of an impact because of that new animation. I'm pretty sure I watched maybe the second or later episode of Voltron first. And even then I started late into the show. I remember how they were trying to find the keys to the lions. And then how exotic it was that all the lions were in different locations having to do with their colors. Also how cool the transport to the lions sequence was. Why do I mention all this? Because the opening of this teaser starts with a lion in a garage. And the whole thing just looks modern, what's popular, and safe. Borderline generic. It's odd how the new versions of Voltron, Macross, and Gatchaman all have a kiddy sort of style about them. Why can't they be more like Yamato? Also, Sideshow's painted Voltron. I thought maybe painted it would be better. But it still reminds me too much of modern movie Transformers. I guess it's safe to say I'm vintage Voltron all the way at this point. When the Mad Toys one comes out that just might be it for me. Maybe if some company releases anime accurate lions but I'm not holding my breath for them. That was my thought as well and I just found out about GaoGaiGar. I saw artwork of the Princess and the older guy on Neogaf. It looks like they made her black or gave her a tan.

Macross Δ (Delta) News Thread - READ 1st POST
JetJockey replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
People actually like Jetfire? I remember selling it. And being happy with getting rid of it for a real official Macross Valkyrie. -
No one wants that. It will have to go to a giveaway price to sell out. I still don't know why they didn't make that anime accurate. I watched a review of the anniversary version from another youtube robot reviewer recently. It seems like everyone always comes away with the Toynami talking points after interviewing the owner. Toynami says they are working on other stuff but need the current stuff to sell first. The new stuff is cool and they show prototypes but no one can talk about it. I don't understand how they are still in business. I guess the Cinemaquette line is more profitable because nothing on the Toynami site is of any interest. And all their past stuff isn't worth it to me. On the plus side, Sideshow is supposed to show a painted version of their Voltron at the Wondercon coming up this weekend.

Best Combining / Combiner Anime Robots
JetJockey replied to JetJockey's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
All of these are new to me. And many a lot older than I expected. They count but I didn't think they were as cool as the ones I mentioned in the OP. I owned the Constructicons and the jet one. Who knows what happened to them. I never could get into the vehicle Voltron. I had the toy and sold it. Hated it. Those truck feet and loose fists. It felt like cheap plastic compared to the metal lions. Also the show seemed generic after the exotic and cool lions. GaoGaiGar seems out there. A bullet train and other vehicles that come out of the water. They seem to start as a robot and the final fusion makes them even more powerful. I've only seen the openings to Aquarion. The music is pretty good. When I checked youtube for the transformation sequence there was talk about being nude to transform. I need to see a full episode because that seemed like way too much fan service. -
Probably the best anime style mech game. Another game Konami will let go to waste. I might have to settle for one of the Revoltech versions one day.

Creations Anime Artbooks by Movic
JetJockey replied to JetJockey's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I still have to get the first Zillion one. I found a listing to a Creations book for Dominion. Still haven't seen that one yet. -
The cancellation is not surprising. Konami's just about finished with videogames anyways. Shows how messed up they are when they make an HD remaster of one of their best shooters and put it on Android. I'll stick to the NES Life Force myself. But the remaster's music did sound pretty good. Not as good as the original though. They just released a 2D version of that as a download for the new Darius game. Same with Space Harrier.

With an official Voltron toy from Mad Toys in the works and Dangaio coming out soon on Blu-ray. I was thinking, what are the best or fan favorite combining robots? And do they have good toys available? These are the top that I remember. Voltron Lions I think Voltron is the first combining robot that I ever saw and maybe still the best. The idea of robot lions that can fly and also transform into a large robot was and is just as cool as the Macross Valkyrie. And the form Blazing Sword weapon and animation is probably one of the best scenes in animation. GunbusterProbably the second best combining robot. The anime was serious too. The passage of time thing was something I didn't expect. The Soul of Chogokin version looks really good. I missed the first version and I'm going to get the color version. DangaioThere was something more destructive about Dangaio compared to the others when I first watched it on a bootleg VHS. I don't remember at that time seeing large robots fight in the middle of a city. And although many of the weapons like the sword and shooting hands were in Voltron, the more complex design of the ships and Dangaio was something new. I wish someone would make another toy other than that expensive version. Mighty OrbotsI always liked this cartoon. It was one of those Saturday morning shows that was always on early. Even as a kid something didn't seem right about the Orbots though. I could kind of tell it was like Voltron, how the robots came from certain areas like the ocean. But when they combined it seemed wrong. Now I see that the scale is crazy. But I still want a toy version and they could release a complete DVD or Blu-ray while they are at it so I can see the whole thing.

This is a nice collection. I'll probably have to get some of those Megazone ones when I finally see the anime. I have a few of the Southern Cross ones on my list to get just for the artwork.

No one has any of these? Here is an image of the Gunbuster one from this great Gunbuster site. http://www.toponeraegunbuster.com/gunbuster-creations.jpg Also, there was one for Appleseed. I found it recently on eBay.
