I posted about Iczer in the Dangaio topic. I searched and there surprisingly isn't a dedicated topic on this show. This is an awesome old school anime. I just finished it during the holiday. I probably should have picked up the DVD instead of going the youtube route. There is a movie version which I'm curious to see if they added any scenes. What I watched on youtube seemed to have missing story elements. Every episode has the Japanese forces attempt to launch an attack against the aliens and failing. But there isn't any real development of that story. It's just Japan has a new method of attack every episode and boom. Unless that's just the old school anime story telling. Also a Blu-ray was released! The show probably looks amazing on Blu-ray. The animation and character designs are really good and worth being on Blu-ray like Dangaio. The Blu-ray is supposed to be a limited release though but I'm still looking into that and wondering if there will be a US release. Does anyone own any Iczer cels or have a list of Iczer items? Artbooks, posters, figures, laserdiscs, etc? I found the Iczer Battle Box laserdisc. It's tempting. I want to see if there is any overlap between the laserdisc booklet and the artbooks. I know Toshihiro Hirano has a few artbooks too with his Iczer works. So far I've just been searching eBay and Yahoo Japan to see what was released. One of the sad things I've come across is a lack of fan sites. I remember back in the early days of the Internet, there were always fan sites that would have all the items listed. I saw an image of an old Mighty Orbots toy box some time ago. I'll see if I can find it again. I think it was a cancelled toy version. I'm kind of worried about a Saber Rider Ramrod / Bismarck though. The Saber Rider Kickstarter wasn't that popular. I think the company might have something to do with that though as they were supposed to come out with the game in the past. And the Kickstarter seemed to be all over the place in their goals and platforms. I don't know how popular Bismarck is in Japan. I barely see cels for it. Although I have seen old toys and trading cards. Dangaio seems to be popular to older fans. I can't see why they wouldn't make a Chogokin version in the future. They've made so many that I've never heard of before. I was doing some searching and saw that they put Dangaio in a Robot Wars game released in Japan. So people must like Dangaio over there. It even has the same battle music. Speaking of music, I've been watching Iczer and there is some music in it that's almost direct from Dangaio. It's a really out there anime. I don't know what I was originally expecting. It's like a strange mix of anime robots, girls, space sci-fi, and Hellraiser. I guess I just paged through the comic when I was a kid as I didn't expect this. It's good though. Depending on the third episode, I might need an Iczer Robo. And then find a good cel of Iczer-1. I don't recall seeing that cel on YJ or Mandarake. It might be from their source. That's my thinking regarding a lot of their stuck cels. That these are from either collectors sitting on cels or their own old stock that they are now selling. I think the modern collector would have separated it from the pencil sketch long ago and either framed it or put it in a cel bag. So many of these stuck cels might just be coming up. But I don't think that cel is worth $1500 stuck without matching background. I probably wouldn't pay more than $500. I need to see the scene again but I believe there are shots with Minmay's face more in frame too.

This is one of the best cels of Hikaru and Minmay from the scene in DYRL that I've seen. Urbantreasurehunter has it for $1500 and open for offers. Those are the ones. I couldn't remember the exact scene and they just looked odd. Well not everyone checks both YJ and eBay. I guess they count on that. Also someone who just wants any Macross cel for their collection. I will say that my holding and looking for favorite scenes has made me miss a bunch that I can't believe. But I never followed those auctions to the end either. So who knows the price many of those ended up at. There is a good Ghost in the Shell cel on eBay now for around $1000. I think they said the background is a copy though. I don't know how much you guys notice cels from other series. I post about a few here at times. You would think the older and I guess not that popular anime shows would be easier to find. I still haven't seen that many good Dirty Pair Project Eden cels. I don't think there are many people looking for that one.

I've seen apple_symphony sell good cels before. I wonder if they are just an older collector or store? The high priced cels I never noticed. Or I can't remember. Maybe they are short auctions and I just happened to miss them. The seller that had a cel I thought was questionable was selling an Hikaru / Rick in civilian clothes pilot scene. It was a really cheap starting price. Like under $20 I think. They listed a bunch of new ones. They have a good source somewhere as many of the ones I checked are stuck to paper. Which I assume means coming from an anime company or person that just stored them away to sell in the future.

They seem to have another one of these back up for auction on YJ. Also there are some very expensive Macross TV cels up. The highest I've ever seen for starting prices. I need to look over them more tonight. A few weeks ago there were some more very cheap cels that I think were fakes.

This Meiko has the best face of the released figures. But some other company should try to make the girls. I'm kind of surprised that there isn't a good group of the three main girls yet.

That's the first time I've ever seen a Medusa character with panties. The popular ARH Studios versions and just about every Medusa type I can remember go full snake for the lower half of the body. I need to look into the story behind this character.

For some reason, if I get a cel, I'm fine with the cel alone. But if I were to get a genga or douga by itself. I would go crazy looking for the cel. I guess that's OCD or something. But I do love the strong lines on sketches. It's something that never ceases to amaze me. I would probably get a Mikimoto sketch if it was from a favorite scene.

Medusa is very popular these days. Weird seeing a snake girl complete with skirt though. I don't know what she would be covering.

I'm surprised they haven't made one yet. There is an old Blazing Sword Voltron figure from I think Mattel that was exclusive to Comic Con. A Japanese company could easily make a better version of that.

Since these are small they should be cheap. Still I would just like one real 1/6 or 1/7 scale Minmay figure. I don't think that's too much to ask. Were there anymore Delta figures? I probably would get one of Mirage.

I like what I'm seeing so far. Including the small Cyclone / Ride Armor. I would want a Red version hopefully. Yeah they can't mess up the Fighter mode. I hate the beached whale look of the original one. It should be unacceptable on these newer ones though.

Well I guess this will be the best Voltron toy we are likely to get. I assume they looked at attempting to make it as accurate to the animation as possible and still have the lions transform. Yet they didn't go with removable legs or head / neck areas. They did give the lions necks but not as substantial like in the show. Perhaps it's just too much to remove for all four lions. Besides, the legs on the blue and yellow lions seem to help stabilize Voltron. I am happy with it though. It's better than all the recent versions. And all the weapons gets me excited. I would still be up for anime accurate non-transforming separate lions and Voltron. But I don't think many would be into that. Probably too expensive. Maybe they could sell them separately? Separate lions and of course one Voltron. That way people could get an accurate Voltron and pick their favorite lion.

Since we are getting a new Chogokin Voltron, all I need now is Dangaio, Mighty Orbots, and Ramrod from the Star Sheriffs. Then my giant robot collecting days are over. Also if anyone was looking, there is a Dangaio Creations 1 book by Movic. Now I'm searching to see if there is one for the final episode. I still haven't dug out my Creations 2 book. I think there might be sketches from the third OVA in there. But I can't remember.

Not me. I thought about it though. It made me wish I got this Minmay cel off YJ as they would go well together. But I've always found the problem with getting something you don't really want is, as soon as you get it, what you really want comes out. But it also could mean I just need more money. Has anyone ever seen passable fakes or fan cels? I mean cels that you have zero doubt are original? Because I haven't. These Macross ones just seemed odd. The No1 and No2 codes on those Misa cels is actually funny. I don't think I've ever seen numbering like that on cels. And the majority of those cels don't even have production codes yet they aren't hankens. I will say that I think going purely by cel fading as a sign of age sometimes isn't the best marker as don't many collectors keep their cels in cel books and not framed? If so, the chances of direct or even indirect light is very low. I've seen many recent Ghost in the Shell cels that don't show major signs of age. At least I didn't see it in the auction images. Also the too good to be true rule can also be incorrect. Sometimes collectors sell quality cels. I think I posted it here or in the Mospeada topic about the Rook / Fuke opening cel and sketches. I can't remember my thinking at the time for not trying to win it. But now I'm thinking, what was I thinking not trying for it. As the person that owns it will probably keep it for life. I think one thing you can say about urbantreasurehunter's cels, is that they all, or at least the ones I've considered, seem to be original. For example his Gatchaman cels. I have no doubt about those. He just over prices cels but he does have cels on sale and take offers. So that's something that has me curious about the price he is willing to let cels go. But I don't want to test offer and then have to buy a cel that I don't really want. Maybe someone else is willing?

New Mospeada toys is always a plus. Shows that there is interest. I guess they like the ships more than the motorcycles though. And what does non scale mean? Just best guess? I just would like to see something that's better than what's been already released.
