3 versions? Someone better bring on the Motoslave next. I'm going to see if I can find Megazone on the Net to watch this weekend.
-
No. But if you wanted to, you or someone else could get it and return it for free by using eBay's not as described rule. The seller's description isn't that good and I'm sure however the sketch turns out or if it's fake, eBay will make the seller pay the return shipping on not as described cases. eBay almost always takes the position of protect the buyer.
-
Ok. Not completely worthless. I would pay $1 for the cel & sketch. Here is why. Since the seller doesn't want to open the frame and check it, which by the way is the easiest thing to do and they are selling the whole thing. I would offer $1 (for the cel & sketch) + shipping cost + frame cost. Who knows what kind of glass it is or if the materials are acid free. All that would need to be discarded and changed anyway. So then just the frame itself, perhaps $25 to $50. Since we aren't talking framing labor charges. It looks like a glossy wood frame but that doesn't really matter. That means for me at best I would offer around $50 to $75 max to ship to the United States. Since I believe the cel is stuck to the sketch you have the chance of damaging the only possible good thing in the auction. And after that, with the framer there is the possibility of them dry mounting the sketch itself to the matting. Which can be removed but it is an expensive process and can result in paper damage / color changes. Let's not forget this might have a case of vinegar syndrome too. And of course repairing the cel which would basically need to be completely redrawn by a professional cel artist. The potential costs of this restoration adventure for a possible legitimate cel that isn't even a key display cel, at least to me, is far too much.

I hate to admit it but I still haven't watched a Gundam anime in full yet. And I have a few artbooks too for some reason. Plus some saved opening videos and songs. That Gundam Thunderbolt looks awesome though. I'm going to start at the beginning one day. Exactly. Macross was new to me then. It was adult compared to other cartoons. For me Robotech, Gatchaman / Battle of the Planets, and a few others were like that compared to the other cartoons at the time like Bugs Bunny. A simple comparison with the original Macross Opening versus the Macross Delta opening and the only similar things are the transforming jets. Times change but should the look and tone be that different?
-
Did you ever sell that other time? I kind of agree with you on the SNES classic being available versus boxed collectors. But check past eBay sold auctions to be sure. You never know.

If the cel is legitimate, I would assume the sketch is stuck as it would be a true incompetent framer that would frame a cel and non-stuck sketch like the one we are seeing. They would frame them separately or next to each other. Not on top like that. But then I've read stories of some framers dry mounting cels too. I can't tell if this store is in the open or a mall but it looks like being displayed in the Australian sun combined with not using a UV filtered glass did this one in. If this is a real cel it's worthless in the current condition. It's probably one of the worst if not the worst condition cel I've seen. And I've seen some bad ones from Disney and other companies. At times missing sections of the cel and background. But there were still parts that made those worthy of restoration.

Same here. It doesn't seem like there will be renewal versions of the VF-31 from what I've come across.

I want good figures of Misa and Minmay. No one wants to make them. I hope the Zillion Apple figure sells well enough so maybe we will get Misa and Minmay in that vintage line.

I haven't finished Macross Delta, I stopped watching after 7 or so episodes. But recently when looking at parts of the anime for Mirage battle scenes, I thought back to when I first saw Robotech / Macross. How the opening was serious and the art style was adult at the time for me. Then I watched all the Macross openings and there definitely is a huge difference between the art style and tone of that original Macross opening compared to the current Macross Delta opening. The question is what are the chances of the next or even future Macross series looking more adult again? Something like the new Yamato series.

The majority are probably used to online shopping by now. It's just the usually cheaper prices and free shipping are really kicking in. People had time for it before. The amount of time in a day hasn't changed. It's just easier to use your computer or phone to order and wait for it to arrive at home. But guess what, when retailers go out of business, towns and smaller cities become ghost towns. I've lived in places like that and although it doesn't bother me too much to have all that space. It isn't a good thing for an area to survive. I remember those days. That was when Toys R Us was the place to go to. I remember the crowds during holidays looking at the new G.I. Joe toys. The then $100+ dollar huge Aircraft Carrier packaging up on the stands. You would turn to the next aisle and have tons of Transformers. Also the videogame aisle and pulling tickets. Systems behind those glass cases. I don't know how Toys R Us lost that appeal as Gamestop truly sucks. I barely went there. I mean I did try other places because I was growing up. So I went to Best Buy and EB Games too. I think Software Etc and Babbages. But a good toy store should never lose it's appeal. Perhaps it's the product too. Right now I can't think of a good domestic cartoon.

Yeah those early elevator moments are awesome and how the game builds the music. But still on portable, it's like someone telling you to watch Alien or Aliens on a cell phone and at least you've seen it. But it's not the same. The controls are a huge part of gameplay and it does feel better to play a game on the controller it was originally designed for. I always felt that way when I played many old titles and arcade games like Street Fighter.

I'm cheating and quick looking at some of the episodes that I haven't seen. But these pictures are doing a good job of pushing me to get Mirage's jet. I realized though that I really don't like the look or perhaps feel of Macross Delta. I think that's part of the reason I stopped watching. I guess I'm just too old school original Macross. Mirage and the jet design / scenes were the only thing that interested me early on. I don't think Lord Hemorrhoid helped at all. I always forget that Anymoon posts here. I'm waiting on his Mirage review and watched some of his previous VF-31 videos to help me decide.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, in theaters Dec. 16, 2016
JetJockey replied to Dobber's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
That's a bad road to go down if they will continue the main series after these new movies. Not all Star Wars or main Star Wars movies should be about the Skywalkers. It's like how some people think Star Trek needs Kirk in the movies. Same here. -

Honestly I don't know why they sold Rogue One as a side story when the movie fits with Star Wars far better than the prequels and what we've seen of the new trilogy so far. -
I never heard of an alteration of that VF-1S poster. I believe I got that with the Gold Book. I still need a DYRL movie poster. I think I couldn't decide between the three because I really wanted one with Hikaru and Misa prominently . Perhaps one of the modern Mikimoto versions will work for me. I know I have one of his older posters with all the characters but I think it's missing a valkyrie.

It's the overall experience of the game. I grew up playing SNES and other games on a 24 or 27 inch TV. The 3DS XL is 4+ inches. It would be a great game turned into a more portable experience. Even Michael Bay joked in an interview about people watching movies on some small phone. That's just not the way to do great movies or games. I misread and thought since you had a 3DS you wanted the Castlevania DS games. I don't think the GBA Castlevanias are that great. I play the GBA games on a DS Lite. But I guess you could get the GBA Player for GameCube. I can't recall my reasons for passing on that. I have a very small portable library, if you could even call it that. Basically only some of the portable versions of games from my favorite series. And then only because I really like the art style and music. For the GBA and DS, it's the 6 Castlevania titles, the 2 Metroid titles, Gunstar Super Heroes, Double Dragon, and a few others. I passed on many portable titles like the Marios, Zeldas, etc because I'm just not crazy about the format.

Please don't play one of the best games ever on a small portable screen. Wait and get it on the SNES Classic since that's going to be readily available according to Nintendo. Or get the SNES cartridge. Those Castlevania DS games don't seem to go for too much. The only thing you have to look out for is this "Best" edition cover. Someone got paid for this. Seriously they should be fired.

I never played the original Gameboy Metroid 2. I downloaded that recent fan game before Nintendo shut it down though. When people were going crazy about the new Metroid on 3DS, I looked at the first trailer and some gameplay and it didn't look like a Metroid game I would like. I might check it out one day. But I have Fusion and Zero Mission and I still think the original NES and SNES games are better. The original Metroid was and still is a tough game to get into. Especially if you were a kid back then. It was a large and hostile world. I remember not knowing what to do or where to go in the game. But I knew the game was special and probably good. Like Goonies II with it's secrets and two sided map, it wasn't until I got the Nintendo Player's Guide that things made sense to me. And even then, for me as a kid these were still massive worlds and difficult games. I'm sure I paged though the instruction manuals of those games. But you really were on your own unlike with many of today's games that point you in the direction you are supposed to go. Super Metroid is a brilliant game. One of the best ever. I would jump at that game way before getting the 3DS one if you've never played it. At least Nintendo is doing something right with the SNES classic. I hope all the scalpers on eBay get return requests as well as the people who ordered multiples on Amazon get banned for buying multiples and then cancelling for no reason other than not needing them anymore.

On the information posted on that site it's 50 limited for Hong Kong but 100 everywhere else for 150 total. That's better than the original 50 only that I thought. It can't be long before Prime 1 Studio shows what they have in the works. Someone will get on to a large scale DYRL version eventually with lights.

There are 3 Castlevania games on the DS. Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia. I never liked the idea of portable gaming and when I play my portables I have them attached to speakers to really enjoy the games. I guess you could use good headphones though. But talking true portable games the one I always recommend is Boktai on the GBA. You have to play that outside for the sun sensor. I'm going to pick up the Hotel Dusk mystery games too. I'm sure there are other slow puzzle type games like that available. Those seem like good portable games where the sound might not be as integral to the gameplay. But for something like Castlevania, I need to hear the sound through quality speakers. The new Metroid comes out this week too I think but that's another one I would play with the speakers. And honestly I'm not really looking forward to that game anyways. The whole classic games on portables never really gelled with me. I downloaded this version of the Metroid NES OST and I'm waiting for the First 4 Figures Samus to come out. Then I'm going to replay the NES and SNES games. My PSP never leaves my home even though it stays in one of those Logitech clear cases.

Those lights look really good with the blue paint. Really limited too. I wonder how fast it will sell on Robotech.com?

The VF-1Ex was early in the show right? I just searched for the VF-1Ex and I think I remember seeing that episode. But Mirage wasn't piloting her VF-31C. If I eventually get this version, I'll probably just leave it in jet mode. The colors do look really nice on the release version. I always think of it as the Silent Hacker episode. I don't know what it's called. But the song was at the beginning. I remember they were infiltrating a planet and get captured at the end. Perhaps I watched the episode afterwards. I can't remember. The show really didn't catch on with me.

I think similar to plastics that have potentially yellowing chemicals, sometimes you can't do anything about it. You have to hope that the producing company uses good materials. I have old books, comics, and posters that are printed on cheap paper that have the yellowing. At best you can use acid free materials, UV filtered plexiglass, and keep them away from direct sunlight. That should slow the process. With the modern posters I get, I haven't seen a problem. Those Shirow ones I posted in the OP are 20+ years old without a problem. The ones I haven't framed are flat between acid free paper in an acid free box.
