I know. I had a chance to get his limited books once at a good price but passed. I think my favorite artwork from him is a poster or page from the first Final Fantasy game. I still have that.

That's a really beautiful display piece. I'm still hoping for DYRL versions. But it's such an amazing display. Probably the best large scale Macross piece I've seen. How is the speaker quality? Any specs listed?

I remember seeing the original painting of that cover for sale once. One of those things I wish I purchased.

I was hoping we would see something of Lancer at the end of this month. If not a hint of Rook. Same goes for someone making figures of them in their normal unarmored outfits. Perhaps a prototype of that Figma will be ready. I was thinking about getting one of the old Mospeada soundtracks for the Yellow Dancer cover but I didn't like the artwork enough. I was never crazy about that artist's style that everyone seems to love from the Final Fantasy games.

Bubblegum Crisis OVA Blu-ray Direct Release
JetJockey replied to JetJockey's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I assume it's almost the same if not the same release. https://www.rightstufanime.com/Bubblegum-Crisis-Blu-ray I can't remember the extras on the Kickstarter release. I think they left some stuff out. -
Is it just me or does anyone want unarmored, normal clothes versions of the characters to go with the bikes as well?

[CN] New ThunderCats - ThunderCats ROAR!
JetJockey replied to Old_Nash's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I skipped around that video and they need to keep that guy and those people away from Thundercats. We seem to be going backwards here. The last Thundercats cartoon was ok, I want to watch it again but I can't believe what they are selling now. Let's call it what it is, complete garbage. Especially when compared to the original animation. I don't watch Cartoon Network. Too many bad things and cancellations come out of that place. I remember problems with Young Justice. And the big one for me was Tower Prep. That was a really cool show and they didn't continue the cliffhanger ending or let the creator finish the story as a comic or anything. I would also say support Sideshow Toys Thundercats statue line. But they made a really odd Lion-O statue. It seems no one can make a good Lion-O statue. They are all the more realistic style. This diorama was cancelled. But Sideshow's Mumm-Ra is very good. On one of the forums Sideshow teased a Cheetara but after that Lion-O, many think the line is dead. On one of those posts, someone showed a prototype Lion-O that looked really good. But I can't find it and if it's just a personal sculpt there is no reason to get excited if we can't get it. -
Consolidated Megazone 23 Toy/Model Thread for 2017-2018
JetJockey replied to RavenHawk's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Wasn't there a guy here that did an article for Forbes with a trip to Arcadia's office and Megazone toys? We might need a second trip for some solid updates. Although I think a big summer Wonderfest is coming up in June or July. We should get news then.- 817 replies

Apparently I missed these Robotech games or just don't remember them. I'll check the wiki and youtube. I might pick up that portable though. I wish the colors were better. You would think they would make it as cool as the arcade in the TV episode or have valkyrie colors or something.

I was watching Zaranyzerak's anime collection on youtube and he mentioned a re-release of Bubblegum Crisis on Blu-ray by RightStuf. I checked and sure enough, Animeigo is releasing the Blu-ray again but direct this time. It's all the episodes on one Blu-ray instead of the three like the Kickstarter version. It's really extraordinarily disappointing that with the two recent Kickstarters of Gunsmith Cats and Riding Bean with Kenichi Sonoda's participation, plus last year's 30th anniversary of Bubblegum Crisis that there is still no real standout edition of this great anime. Both RightStuf and Amazon have the Blu-ray for pre-order at around $30 ($10 off retail price) so by the holidays you will probably be able to get it cheap. Maybe for the 35th or 40th anniversary they will try again with a real collector's edition. Perhaps we will have those Figma figures or a few bike toys by then too. People who passed on the Kickstarter with all its throw away trinkets I guess this release is for you.

You should have started a new topic for this book since it's not just Macross. I would have missed it if I wasn't looking for images of Lancer in these book topics.

Sentinel is playing games with me. Why couldn't they put both Lancer and Rook in the background on Rand's box? It's possible they are leaving the best for last but still they shouldn't play that game. But I'm in for Lancer. Those lights look awesome. My plan keeps changing but my hope now is that Figma releases a good version so I can have one to display in Armored mode. The rest will stay in bike mode. So right now I'm thinking Lancer and Rook from Sentinel. I'm very tempted to pass on Rand but we'll see what Sentinel makes for Rook.

I wish Sony still made CRT TVs. Considering that they are in the video game industry you would think they would make one good set for us. But their last PlayStation LCD display had all kinds of problems from what I read. I think the last really good CRT TV for systems right in the middle of the SD / HD age was a Sony XBR Widescreen CRT TV. It was expensive back then but I would like to find one now. On another game note, I finally finished a game I never beat in arcades. Nor did I see anyone finish it and now I understand why. The game is cheaper than that second to last NES Ninja Gaiden stage with the repeating bird. Anyway, that game is Rolling Thunder. I played the PSP version on Namco Museum Battle Collection which I believe is the arcade version. There is a stage near the second run through (you have to beat the game twice to get the ending) with jumps and fire characters which drove me crazy. Plus the final boss just charges you and absorbs bullets. Add in that on the last stage you really can't get hit and you are against the timer, makes it one of the toughest games I've ever played. Maybe it would be a bit easier if I played it on a bigger screen with a real controller. I was so tempted to throw my PSP which is why I don't get shooters on it. But still I'm happy I finally finished it. I love the design and aside from the difficulty, the first two games in the series are pretty cool. I haven't played the third one on Genesis yet. But I always played Rolling Thunder 2 on Genesis. I like the James Bond feel of that one. I didn't see anyone post this as a topic. I'm sure someone posted the original version somewhere around here. But it's been updated. This guy did an anime Star Wars TIE Fighter battle as well. But this R-Type one is cool. I can't remember beating the first one but I think the SNES version was a favorite. I might go over the series and see which titles I missed.

Mighty Orbots - New Complete DVD and Other News Topic
JetJockey replied to JetJockey's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I've been watching the Mighty Orbots Complete DVD. This release is as bare bones as it gets. Just the episodes. In fact, I've never seen a release like this from a big company. It's on DVD-R discs! When I read it was Manufacture on Demand, I thought it would be limited. Kind of based on what pre-orders they received with the possibility of stopping production when there isn't demand. But this sort of release is basically to give something to the fans if they don't want to make a real production. Here is the wiki on it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warner_Archive_Collection I guess even one of those limited DVD / Blu-ray outfits didn't want to make a couple thousand run edition. Apparently there are other old cartoons that are Manufacture on Demand like Centurions, SilverHawks, and others. Still you would think a big company would have someone put a bit more effort into the release. I was thinking this DVD would help the chances for a chogokin. But I'm not so sure now. However, I did find this video. I posted the image of that toy box somewhere around here in another topic. But this is a good short peek at the toy inside the box. The interviewer mentions that it's a God Mars repaint which someone here told me Mighty Orbots was similar to God Mars. Also here is something worth a listen. -

After seeing Kuma Style's review and transformation videos, plus reading the posts here, the nightmares of that old crumbling 80s Cyclone toy are coming back. I especially felt it seeing Kuma Style attempt poses and watching parts fly off and around. I don't know guys. I want a Cyclone. And if Sentinel makes Rook I'll definitely get her because she's going to be displayed in bike mode only and that will be the best version since there isn't any real competition yet. But it would still be nice to have a structurally stable Armored mode model / toy. I don't expect there to be any changes with Rand as the reason Scott and Rand are coming out almost at the same time is because they are basically the same figure. This similarity is why I wanted Rook first. But it's too late for that and we got into that debate when these figures were announced. I'm still curious what Anymoon will think. But right now it's Rook for me if they make her. If they don't, I can't decide on Scott or Rand right now after seeing that video. Bike mode looks fine but I'm just a bit disappointed. But those Figma versions might come out so there is still some hope.

Apparently they have far more mechs to choose from than I thought from the wiki. So much good stuff in that video. Still I hope Iczer-Robo and Dangaio are near the top of the list. I don't like what I saw of that Studio Halfeye version. I posted in the Dangaio topic some reviews. Way too expensive and small.

I meant decent scale like 1/6 or 1/7 similar to most modern pre-painted figures. I did see a Minimum Factory Valkyrie this morning though. So I guess it will go well with those small figures. Still I want something of higher quality and detail for DYRL figures.

Your most recent Macross or toy purchase! General thread.
JetJockey replied to Gakken85's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
That looks like an early Christmas! I'm looking over the Amiami and HLJ sales. Perhaps I'll find one of the items on my list for sale. -
Same here. I'm hoping that people are watching these small figures and will eventually give us at least Hikaru, Minmay, Misa, Max, and perhaps a few others in a decent figure scale.
