Do you know anything about the cels and sketches that might have escaped the studio? I haven't seen many good ones.

Medicom/Hot Toys and all 1/6 scale figures
JetJockey replied to EXO's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I saw some of the Black Series figures in stores and wasn't impressed. I guess they are ok for kids to play with. Perhaps a bit higher end than normal figures. But nothing compared to Hot Toys. Actually I wasn't impressed with any of the new Star Wars toys. Not the figures or packaging. I pretty much ignore Star Wars stuff now for the Star Wars stories that I like. So I prefer the stuff that introduced Mara Jade and a few of the better books and comics from back then. I watched The Force Awakens a few times. Posted a short review around here. Watched The Last Jedi twice to be sure of the garbage I was watching. And from that, I know there is nothing the final movie can do to make me display anything from the new trilogy. I was tempted depending on The Last Jedi to get a Hot Toys Force Awakens Rey. I was going to paint the sand base white because I did like that snow fight. But there is no way the next movie will be anywhere near as good as Return of the Jedi. -
They need to shrink that large scale Sheryl into a small figure as that's the best sculpt I've seen of her. I just posted on MFC that I would get all the Macross Bridge Girls if they released them as quality figures. But since we still don't have a good Minmay figure I'm not getting my hopes up.

Any good ones you remember or images that you saved? I know I was too picky and saving for possible other cels. But I wasn't looking back in the day when people got the really good stuff. I'm still upset I passed on that Minmay pan cel from DYRL a few years ago. I don't think I've seen another Minmay DYRL cel I've really liked since that one.

I'll check out Mars Matrix, it sounds familiar. I played the first level of Raystorm a while ago on a compilation disc and thought that was cool. I'll probably get to it soon. I'm trying to decide which game I'll play next. I know there is a lot of hype for Treasure games. I missed a few that were supposed to be really good like Dynamite Headdy and Silhouette Mirage. People love Guardian Heroes but I sold that one. I didn't like it that much. I wish I kept it longer as I think that's another expensive one. But the two Gunstar Heroes games are awesome. I love those games. I'm waiting for Kokuga on 3DS to go on discount. It looks like an old school tank game. Might be fun.

Medicom/Hot Toys and all 1/6 scale figures
JetJockey replied to EXO's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I think the Hoth Leia came out early this year. I'm hoping that Endor Luke goes up soon since they keep showing him at shows and hinted at that accessory thing in the manual. The Speeder bike is from Sideshow not Hot Toys. I keep reminding myself to check and see if anyone attempted to put the Jedi Luke on the Speeder on Sideshow Collectors forum. Since Sideshow has a Jedi Luke figure I imagine he will work better on the Speeder than the Hot Toys version. The scale of Sideshow vs Hot Toys figures seems to be a bit off. I saw one youtube review that compared I think the Darth Vader figures before. -
I'll check out Arrow Flash as well. But Ranger-X is it. I guess my memory is getting messed up or it was late last night. I thought it was a transforming robot but the Ranger-X character can enter or combine with his bike helper. That's a good game. I have Musha too. Apparently it goes for a lot these days. It's probably my favorite vertical shooter. I need to think about it. Silpheed on Sega CD is fun. NES Jackal is also good but I don't know if you want to place all vertical shooting type games in the same category. Mercs on Genesis is another good one. But usually I'm not too fond of vertical shooters. Everyone loves Radiant Silvergun but I wasn't really impressed with it. I'm always tempted to sell it.

I got the Jedi Luke and they talk about an accessory thing in the instructions. It's just that they just showed another Empire Leia so you think they would put Endor Leia up for pre-order by now before getting people excited about another Leia figure. I haven't been following Back to the Future but I thought they released that since they had a bunch of figures for Part 2. I guess it was just the original. I know Hot Toys shows a lot of vehicles just for show at times. The Batman TV Batmobile never came out. They've shown TIE Fighters and the Millennium Falcon. -

You could put the items that aren't to scale on separate stands coming off the wall near the frame. I saw someone do that before with comic items in a gallery. They had action figures and small vehicles near either a poster or original comic art, I can't remember which.- 17 replies

So I was right. Final episode. I guess I know Macross pretty well even though I've watched Southern Cross and New Generation a lot more. I know I've only seen Japanese Macross completely once and that was on the Animeigo DVDs. Robotech Macross I would usually watch episodes around the big battles. I guess that's why I knew this scene. A good win for whoever got it. Part of me isn't surprised about the seller. I think either here or somewhere I read that Japan was trying to keep its cels in Japan. This scene with original background should be something that turns up in a company or museum gallery or something since it's near a pivotal scene. The few times I've seen really good scenes many times they are with copy backgrounds.

I heard the new Darius is good. I haven't played it yet but the cinema scenes were pretty cool. I never finished Gaiares. I still own it and I'll try again as an adult. I could never defeat this armored knight girl. I could get up to her without dying too. I never heard of Gleylancer. I'll check that one out. There was a slow shooter type game on Genesis that I forget the name of right now. But you flew a transforming jet that would turn into a robot. I think you could control the scrolling of the screen as well. The music was really good. It's on the tip of my tongue I just can't think of it. I think it had an X in the name somewhere. It came out towards the end of the Genesis lifecycle. It was reviewed fairly well. I still have it. I don't think I was fond of NES Gradius. I still own it. I played Gradius 2 on Famicom with a converter thing. I thought that was better and couldn't believe we didn't get that in the States. I was glad that Gradius 3 on SNES was kind of a remake of Gradius 2. They all have really good music and I have some of the soundtracks. I have a few other Gradius games on Playstation. Gaiden was so so that I remember. Cool intro though. The arcade 3 & 4 release was almost unplayable. There is an early bubble stage in one of them and I just can't get through it with the slow down. Gradius V is probably the best one. That asteroid level is classic. The strange thing about the Gradius games is they never end on a satisfying note with a good final boss. I guess that's why I prefer Life Force and Axelay.

Akai Koudan Zillion & The Acquisition of a Grail
JetJockey replied to Valkyrie Hunter D's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The first image is definitely Creations 1. I don't know why I got Creations 2 first. Probably because that was all Nikaku Animart had at the time and I recognized the Zillion characters. I know I have a few posters and pencil boards that I got from them. I used to check the Yahoo Japan auctions for Zillion items more frequently but I just look for cels these days. I want to make sure I get the books in high quality condition. There are a few magazines with Apple on the cover that I want to get as well. Perhaps I'll check Zillion items monthly or so to see if that Sega catalog turns up again. Thanks for the info. -
I forgot about those RPG books. I think I have one or two of those. Post if you find more books. I know I'm going to get the first record for the interior artwork. But I don't think those drawings are in there either.

Akai Koudan Zillion & The Acquisition of a Grail
JetJockey replied to Valkyrie Hunter D's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Looking at that second picture I think I named it incorrectly as it's a thin foldout compared to the book. But I think I found those images in the same auction. Or either when I was doing some searches for Zillions Creations and Movic. I need to look at the other Zillion images I have saved. -
I remember not being crazy about Darius either once I finally found an arcade that had the game. I thought R-Type was a better shooter. I think either Thunder Force II on Genesis or Life Force was my favorite shooter until Axelay came along. That's still tops for me.

That's interesting to know. I'm sure when I got those Robotech Art books I was only paging through the pictures and not reading much of the text. I'm know I looked over Robotech Art 1 & 2 more than 3. I only found out later that there are more high end versions of the books than the paperbacks. But that Cyclone prototype image is kind of familiar. I only knew Zillion from the Master System game. I found out it was an anime a lot later when I happened to get the music CD.

Medicom/Hot Toys and all 1/6 scale figures

I'm all for the popular characters but they need to release some of the stuff they have teased and shown in the past. I thought Endor Leia would be on sale if not released by now. -

I didn't know you had to build it. I saw images a while back and I thought they were getting it ready to go to a factory. With the time they took for a Bubblegum Crisis figma I wouldn't hold my breath for a Riding Bean one. Unless the new anime is really good.- 17 replies

I paged through the book and the front images of the bioroids are in the book but not the smaller side and back detail drawings. I guess those are in a book I don't have. Or maybe the Robotech Art 1 book. I don't know many Japanese Southern Cross artbooks. Only the This is Animation one. They have a few on ebay.

Akai Koudan Zillion & The Acquisition of a Grail
JetJockey replied to Valkyrie Hunter D's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I started a topic a while back about the Creations artbooks for various anime series. I have the Zillion Creations 2 book which is just Burning Night I believe. I have to get it out of storage. There is a Zillion Creations 1 book that I have to get. I've only seen it a few times on auction sites. -
How did the Rinkya $1000 price not win? Did the Rinkya bidders drop out in the end when payment time came up?

The music was good in the game. At least I have a few tracks saved.

I think I liked both Southern Cross and New Generation more than Macross because of the more adventure aspects of the series. They are always riding around on bikes or exploring stuff. Even though all three are about war, the other two series seemed I guess lighter for me back then compared to Macross. And also less mushy with the love stories. But I still thought the valkyrie was the best transforming vehicle in the series. After that the Cyclone and Hovertank are probably tied. Both toys gave me problems and I never got what I wanted. Which was a good version of Rook's bike and a Hovertank mode toy.

I was so so on the original game. I only played it in the arcade. I remember it more for the screen. But I'll get this version.
