Probably the slowest episode of the season... still better than other shows. The dueling Lady McBeths is pretty interesting and my interest is piqued as to what Jesse might have planned. Especially since he basically gave up on having the upper hand against Walt a couple of scenes before. It's got to be a brilliant plan for him to even try it. Alright Pinkman... you got the floor bitch!

Robotech - Love Live Alive + Shadow Chronicles 2-movie set
EXO replied to Negotiator's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
That's exactly the credit I give it. Voltron or the other shows didn't make me seek out and and led me to Bubblegum Crisis and Appleseed, etc. as much as Robotech did... I just don't think it broke thru the pop culture wall the way Adult Swim and Toonami did in the late 90's early 2000s. The subculture of anime fans from the 80's that joined anime clubs, signed up for fanzines AND the few that seeked out LLA weren't gonna flourish IMO. Fanzines died out, mech anime dwindled and the new western audience wanted anime as close to it's pure form as much as possible. I credit that to Toren Smith more than any one.- 371 replies

So what you're trying to tell me is that everyone before Robotech that watched those other shows had no idea that what they were watching came from Japan, I mean aside from the kids that were too young to even know what Japan was to begin with... and that most people needed Art 1 to reveal this to them. I mean I'm with Sketchley. I think we're all from different parts of the world and had different parts and we all had different experiences but the fact that Art 1 was Toto revealing the man behind the curtains is something new to me. I bought Art 1 and the only thing it revealed to me were the names of the original shows but I thought it was obvious that they were unrelated shows and that there really was no 7Zark7 that G-Force reported to.- 371 replies

I didn't misquote you, you're changing the discussion from how Robotech was the groundbreaking show that introduced anime to the US to you're own little field of argument.- 371 replies

That's an incredible leap of logic you made to support your argument. I guess if you use the word "technically" you can just spew any loose connection to make a point. Technically, "Birth of a nation" gave way for Kurosawa's samurai films for the western audience. Yes! I see how it works. But let's go back to the claim here. Robotech, the show that introduced anime to the western audience. I didn't realize this claim was made because Robotech Art 1 explained that it was derived from japanese shows. This is the first time I've heard that that was the sole reason. I guess that does negate the fact that Battle Of The Planets was aired in 1978, StarBlazers in 1980, Voltron in 1984 and Tranzor Z was aired in 1985, the same year as Robotech. If only those other shows came out with a publication that connected it to it's origin. 1983 Star Blazers comic book Robotech was my favorite out of the whole bunch though... not gonna deny that.- 371 replies

Did Robotech really "introduce" anime to the west? If anything anime took a 180 after Robotech... We got a few mech shows imported as OAVs but then it was the Pokemon and Dragonball craze. It wasn't really until Evangelion and Cowboy Bebop that anime boomed. Cosplayers and Otakus didn't culminate into big Anime Conventions until that era, IMO. Robotech attracted a lot of hardcore fans but I can't say it truly opened a floodgate. And it wasn't called anime in the west back then. It was referred to as Japanimation.- 371 replies

To be honest... some of the best things you can use for modeling and kit bashing are found in women's make-up aisles. Nail files used for sanding blocks, eye shadow applicators for weathering, nail polish removers which is just acetone for removing paint, volumizing mousse... well you know, just so you can look fabulous while building your kits.

It's a 6ft table with 2 chairs, so you can split the table with a friend if you don't have enough items to sell by yourself. -
yeeesh... that's 1/72 Bandai is an absolute proportion mess with unnecessary features. The head is so big they had to cut off the chin. The one thing it has going for it is the accurate leg transformation but I'm not sure even a die cast feature on a DX toy can pulit off with much integrity. I think Yamato pulled off as close to a perfect toy representation of the VF-1 with the 1/60s and 1/48s. Maybe Bandai can do a 1/32 DX toy. lol. Banda kit = hideous

All I can say is if you plan on getting his autograph, bring two Tenjin related items or Macross items that's not specific to another artist. Like getting your Imai Regult with Takani art would probably be too weird. No bootlegs, safe bet would be to look for that big west sticker if it's Macross. You guys know what I'm talking about... Seriously though? Tenjin! I think we need to extend the con a few hours! -

That's exactly what's wrong with Walt. Walt didn't need Jesse, but his insistence is what costed him. Fring WAS dangerous and smart can't blame him for that. Walt's need of control and how it destroys everything around him no matter how good it is for him is a major theme of the show. Gus wasn't going to play Walt's game until Walt pushed him into it.

Not a savior in the religious sense. Fring didn't want anything to do with Walt and eventually agrees to work with him. He sets him up big time and Walt systematically detroys everything. In a world of bad guys, Fring was the good guy.

How did you synch it without any controls? Reading this makes me think it's useless unless you have a bunch of pay services... http://gizmodo.com/google-is-crippling-chromecasts-best-feature-1200683643?utm_campaign=socialflow_gizmodo_facebook&utm_source=gizmodo_facebook&utm_medium=socialflow I have a WDTV live and the only thing missing from it is a web browser but that's not something I was really looking for since I have my PC hooked up to my workstation but being able to stram media from my server would have been my main reason for getting Chromecast.
