  1. If I have some time in between this current project (and some current customs) maybe I'll do those up really quick. You guys don't mind the rough texture of the Shapeways nylon material? I wouldn't mind replacing some of that internal mechanisms in the leg and the back that makes the hips click. Otherwise those things are great.
  2. Plausibility is one of the more interesting stuff in entertainment... look at mythbusters. Did Tenjin say how plausible the newer designs are since most of it is done in CAD? Not just the valks but are the stuff they're fitting in the Macross Quarter and Frontier more realistic than say having a giant stadium inside the leg of the Macross? Cuz that DYRL Macross has to be 5 times the size for something like that to fit in there. The Focker thing... the more amazing thing is the fact that he's 7 feet tall. lol. Great job guys... that was a fun one.
  3. I guess you can't spell rack without the letters from arc...
  4. It really is.
  5. Wait... I need to call a lawyer. These guys are making a movie about me and didn't tell me about it! Let me fire up my Commodore 64 and Atari 400... I got some hacking to do!
  6. Nice UZ! Is that a Pepper Potts head?
  7. Yeah, I can't see big studios going for that for fantasy movies. People love their pew pew pews. I finally listened to the Red Letter Media review yesterday and they seem to not like the idea of no sound in space either and thought that it was obnoxious in Firefly. I completely disagree. Watching that space station get pulverized with no sound was mesmerizing.
  8. Finally saw this yesterday... I regret missing it on IMAX 3D because I saw the trailer on one and regular 3D is nowhere near the same, even though I saw a couple seconds of it. But it the first chance I've gotten so I took it. The movie is amazing. If it ever goes back to IMAX I won't miss the chance again, otherwise I'll wait 'til someone gets a 4K 3D screen to watch it again. I'm thoroughly convinced that showing action sequence in space without sound is the way to go, even if it's a fantasy film. After watching BSG, Firefly and now this, the removal of sound adds to the paranoia and fear of getting hit by bullets/lasers/shrapnels in space. I know I'll never go out there so I can't say how much realism there is, but I think it adds to the imagination.
  9. I sculpted this by hand before and the small feet seem to hold up. I don't think extra bits will be necessary. I never finished it because of the weird geometry of the helmet. I was actually planning on using the parts from the destroid conversion kits for the light and the missile box. I won't worry about extra stability of the figure until I actually see it all as I intend it to look... thanks for the input though.... I appreciate it.
  10. Commenting about your podcast in not being angry or annoyed. As I said in the beginning, I agree with your points, it's just that you do a disservice to yourself when you forget the purpose of your podcast and start to rant about something else. That's what makes it bad. Stay on target... that's a valid critique. The fact that you keep defending yourself like I insulted you shows that you can't handle the smallest comment even though it's helpful. Even if you didn't post it here yourself, people have a right to say whether it should be listened to or not and if the things you said should be taken into account. It's information whether people should buy the comic book or not, even though all signs point to "no". About them being brothers.... It's the first thing I asked people that actually hung out with those guys here in L.A. If you have more info on that then good for you. If I'm wrong then... you're not ignorant and forgive me for calling you so. Again it's not hate... just stay on track about the purpose of your podcast. Maybe if it was you and another person talking to each other and your conversation divert naturally then I can see that. But on a podcast by yourself, you should have an outline that you stick to and give the people information that people came for. Again, all the extra stuff comes off as hate and discounts all your points about the comic book, no matter how valid they are. And again... why don't you guys tell us the difference between fan art and official stuff, because you're definition of it makes us feel like we should like them out of pity and not out quality. Thanks!
  11. I like Chrisk's art. But I think you guys are using my quote against fanboy's praises as a dig against fanart and fan fic. And I did listen to the entire comic book review on youtube even before Duke's comments. While I agree with what the reviewer said, as a review it wasn't good because it was mostly a rant against HG and barely about the book. Granted the book is only a few pages with minimal dialogue but don't confuse the purpose of a review as a soapbox for anti HG sentiments. People will shrug it off as another useless angry fanboy rant. Do the review and do a separate podcast about HG complaints... PLUS review the facts. Tommy Yune and Steve Yun aren't brothers, their last names aren't even spelled the same. Maybe it's suppose to be funny but it just comes off as ignorant and totally discounts all other points no matter how good they are. I know people here thinks that it's all anti-Robotech sentiments but the fact is it's the same kind of bias that you have when you hate ALL official projects and drool over EVERY fan made stuff. You over look whether it's really good or bad because you're too busy seeing it as a slap against HG. Passion isn't enough... it actually has to be good. As far as I know these projects haven't even been shown in their entirety to make those judgments. Like I said, valiant efforts by those parties, but quit overselling it already.
  12. I think it's valiant effort on the artist's part, both on the comic book and that short film. The part that bugs me is the fans' superlatives like "it's gonna blow you away" or "amazing" and then I see the actual product and it does absolutely nothing for me. I understand that these are low budget or done on people's free time, so try not to ever sell it as more than that. It's these fans that say that it's the greatest thing ever and turn around and explain it's crudity when given the least bit of critism. I agree with you on the last part... burn out or disinterest because you never know if these things are going to get completed or just fizzle out when it' all said and done.
  13. I don't know who did the originals. I'm sure someone here does. I've had these since 2005.
  14. just by looking at it, I can tell who one of the artist is. He did all the stuff in the beginning which has pretty good colors and composition. Wish they would spend more time on the pencils or whatever they call it digitally.
  15. Very nice! Love the weathering! Great job, you can see that the smoothing process has come along.
  16. Sorry... sad news but way off topic. Let's not make this section of MW an obituary page.
  17. Thanks Dax! Haven't seen you post in while! I'll most likely get it printed from there and then get it recasted. I designed it to be comparable in size with Nendoroids so the print will be quite expensive. When I saw that a single 1/32 scale mospeada figure was over $30, my jaw dropped. I think taking it to resin will be less painful and less sanding for everyone. I'm also thinking of pre-painting all the figures. I just have to see how much time I have. Sounds good. I thought the Japanese beer can was all silver except for the shirt on the character. There's actually a couple of characters in the series. I'm designing it to be interchangeable with each other. Right now I'm interested in this one, the GBP girl and of course Minmay Valkyrie. Notice the Minmay guard Minmay! lol. Thanks! I'll work on the face once I adjust all the things sticking out of the helmet. Forgot to add that the leg armor is already much bigger than the lineart... Those other figures are most likely going to need a stand.
  18. A 1/48 VF-1 is the same size as a 1/60 VF-0 or YF-19 except you can sell more of them...
  19. I'd get that.
  20. Geez. It's like he never got over that AIBO he designed. Even the frontier valks look like it.
  21. Just like the short film, it doesn't look like this fan made project Tochiro posted have bothered to take a look at the original line art. It looks like 80s American Robotech Comic books. I mean you have people making fan art like this: And even on Macrossworld we have artists like this I know the the people with the license are doing jack crap with it, but why are we so forgiving when anyone stamps the Robotech name on it? I'd back any toy, comic book, or project that respects the original source.
  22. Yeah, the rendering turned out pretty cool. Hopefully painting it will be a lot better. I actually sculpted it by hand before and it stood on it's own with the tinier feet. I made the feet bigger this time to give it more leverage. I'll be making changes to I'll try to add in the brow furl in the sculpt. I was originally thinking of just painting it in. The face is probably the hardest thing to sculpt on this. I want to do that. I wonder how I'm going to do that since the silver japanese beer can has white on the decal.
  23. I'd complain about all the splooge... lol.
