Actually, you DON'T fly in space... and you kinda just drift... For the thrusters you can either airbrush it with varying brush sizes or maybe you can use the light rendering filter. Just make sure the direction of the light source (the sun?) is the same on all the items on your bacground (valk, planets, moons, etc.) I'm sure others have a different approach...

I feel better that I got the original version of Alien, as I don't think I'll be interested in the Dir's cut ver. I'm still looking for an original version of Bladerunner. Yeah, yeah, I grew up with the voice over and didn't really care for the unicorn crap.

I saw the teaser yesterday right before the Director's Cut of Alien. Yeah, it makes me want to see it, damn teasers, but I think I'll end up skipping it. Seeing the original Alien in the big screen again makes the other sequels (other than Aliens) look so cheap. Ridley Scott shot it in away that it felt so real in instead of Scifi fantasy. The characters acted like real people and not comic book heroes. I didn't really notice any additional scenes apart from the obvious one towards then end. It seemed like Cameron saw that scene and expanded on it by using it in different parts of the sequel. That scene may have given a new direction for the Alien but it did slow down action a bit, where in Aliens it was used more effectively.

I like the new design for Roy. To me it captures the elements that define the character, visually, for me, while fitting the look of the new stuff. It gives him a more serious look. He's still Roy, but now he looks military, too. Plus it's just really great to see him flying again, he truly is the man. Does he look out of place relative to the flashbacks in Macross? Sure. But then, so do the VF-0 and SV-51. That's just how these prequel things work. Par for the course. Dont get me wrong... I love the fact that we have a Focker story in our hands. I was just saying that he shouldn't be strict with the voice actors if he's not with the lineart, which I think is 2 important parts of what makes the character. But to me it's the story that is more important. If the there IS more to tell (in Hikaru's case, I don't think there is), I wish Kawamori wouldn't say that he's limited by availability of the voice actors.

Some authors want that great debate, to give the audience's imagination the chance to run wild. But in this case, I think it bit him in the ass, because now he has to answer to a million fanboys wanting to know who married who... I understand the fact that he respects the voice actor who did Hikaru. But I feel that if he's going to respect that part of Hikaru, he should have respected Mikimoto's design of Roy Focker, which was greatly altered for Macross 0. I understand that it's a different look but maybe he should have used the new character designer (Takuya Saito) on a different series, like M+, that didn't contain previous characters. EDIT: YAAAR! Me grammar is despicable! YAAR!

I thought their relationship grew quite nicely compared to most TV shows, anime or not. But I would agree that Claudia helped pushed them in that direction. Misa was also desperate. In the Ring, Samira was sending out signals that would burn images in anything that could recieve... people's minds, horses, X-ray films, that tree on the wall up on top of her room in the stable. It drove the horses and her mother mad and affected quite a few people in the island. The TV and the VCR was tight on top of the well, where her thoughts ended up getting recorded. How she got to a phone whenever someone watched that damn tape I'll never know. Maybe she had a cell phone when her mom choked her then drop her down... I gotta admit though, I got the creeps when she crawled up that well in one of the sequels...

Riding Bean was pre-GSC. That's why Rally in the RB anime looks a lot different from the Rally we all know now. When Artmic closed the ownership of the characters in the Riding Bean OVA was under dispute. Sonoda changed her look and put out the manga. I guess after it was settled, he was able to use Bean in the stories.
