    1/1 DYRL Helmet

I'd wear one on a motorcycle if it was in the $400-500 range. Probably not the shoulder pads/armor though. I only mentioned that to see if the cost is justified. A nice helmet from Arai costs around 500-600 for their low end models. The top of line versions with air inlets, in helmet mike attachements and etc... cost over $1200 USD so the cost of these helmets would be worth it for limited production item. A snell rating would be cool to have though. Since its for display and cosplay only, the price is too high personally. However, think how much those old stormtrooper helmets and armor cost way back in the days when they were garage kits. For a professionally made item, it is about inline with pricing. As I had said before its mass production versus special orders. Arai make thousands of helmets a year. So mass production is easier. Your initial investement and materials cost is spread thru the amount of helmets you make. Here they probably wont even make more than 100 helmets (yamato I mean) Not at $1500 USD a piece. But they would sell a couple of thousand if the price was lower. I don't know what their reasoning is but I doubt it's meeting a demand more or less than a 100 pieces.
  3. Cobywan's project is insanely precise! Is it dead in the water or just in a long hiatus?
  4. Hey thanks for the news Bri.
  5. You can use anything that you like better and is sandable to the shape you desire. You can even use plumber's putty.

    a great deal on a VF-19!

a garage sale? I would have talked him down to $5, smacked his teenage daughter in the ass and laughed all the way home.
  7. Hey sketch, nice to see you here! MN pretty much hit the nail on this one. Another approach would be to shape the inner part of the fuselage in foil. Like he said make sure you have a blue print and line art that is to scale with what you are trying to build. The foil should be a lot smaller than the actual product you're trying to sculpt. Then use the putty or sculpy to bring up the thickness and the shape. If you choose to go with sculpy, use the pink type. I think that's Sculpey 2. I use a heat gun to harden the sculpey, be careful not to burn it. You can use steel wool or sandpaper to smoothen out sculpey at the end.

IMO, Yamato can do anything they want with the Macross license. It's better than NOT producing anything. Look at all the other great anime franchise just sitting there with no merch. Especially some that go as far back as Macross.
  9. Admittedly I had no idea what the scale of an Ajax is and I thought about it when I drew it. The drawing is actually bigger and has some Hovertanks in the next stall that were way smaller.
  10. You can't call it a manga collection without Appleseed in it. And YLM... it'll start hurting soon once you finish all of them...
  11. By the way, congrats with the VEX contest. My thoughts exactly on your first opinion. On your second opinion, are some directors just doing that to be in the the craze? Thanks I don't mean that I wish Hollywood would get on the bandwagon, I just wish Japan's anime surge would have helped their live action productions become huge also. Remember Gunhed??? It seems like the only way we would see realistic mechs would be if Hollywood lended them a hand. And Radd, what are you talking about, mate? Put another shrimp on the barby for me!!! G'day!
  12. He has a new movie??? I remember he announced a while back that he was going to retire from his acting career. The only reason I know this is because I remember thinking "he still has an acting career?"
  13. You still have to get a TV pilot!!!
  14. yeah... tnx!!! Givin' SC some of that love that it deserves...

I don't think, or I hope that American fans are going to buy this to actually wear. That's why I would hope to only see it only on petite cosplay girls. But what's even more intriguing is that a Js has a cat that has a similar bodytype as Kate Moss. So, please, oh branded one, NO PICTURES!!!

  21. the question is, with the influx is there an equal amount of quality anime coming out. I don't belive so. There's a glutton of mediocre anime and the percentage of great anime doesn't really add up the golden age, IMO. I also wish that Japan, would have stepped up their live action/CG production. No I don't want live action versions of any anime that was already produced, but would love to see some new and origianl live action mech battles, maybe with Final Fantasy:Movie type characters, and not real life actors. But it looks like we're still maybe a decade away from such things. Especially after the FF movie bust. I guess we'll find out after the EVA movie.
  22. Hey Rob, I see you got the crystal stand you wanted for your 01. Hope it wasn't expensive.
  23. Majestic, 1 (make that 2 pages) page before this is the answer and the pics you want. Imode provide the answer and I provided the pics and yes, it does require a minor disassembly. Edit: 2 pages before this...
  24. I dub thee... Hawaiian Bob...
  25. There's no need to inform them about Japan, they just need to know that they know nothing about Japan.
