As far as I know, Jeff Russel made a chart with most of Sci-Fi's famous starships (i.e. the death star, borg cube thing) and it included Macross ships. It was when Rt.com saw this that they hired him to do one for Robotech. But yeah, you never know how rumors start. Like the other day I heard Angelina Jolie was having my baby. I'm very glad I bought this toy. Yes it is expensive, mostly due to the lack of features but not the lack of quality. I'd probably get a couple of TV Q-Raus if they ever announce it.

Over hyped? I never even heard about it until I saw it at the rental place. I'm not saying it wasn't over-hyped, but I guess it's a sign for me to get out more.

I thought the Matchbox toys were pretty good and matched the Gakkens well. I'd be OK if they just reissued those.

I don't really understand the excuse of not being to reuse the mold. The M+ toys weren't really reusable because they don't sell other schemes. I know the Macross would be a bigger toy, but I'm not only talking about that. There's also the Glaug and the Regult which would be smaller and non transforming. If you think about it, three destroids would be utilizing similar molds on some of their parts. I don't see how they can justify tooling the Monster but not the Macross itself. Is the market bigger for the Monster? I'm not whining, it an honest question

Great movie. I'll probably end up getting it one of these days.
