I'm pissed and elated at the same time. Yes it should have been included and it would piss me off if they released a Max Q-Rau and did the same thing again. But I'm glad they're going to give us a better than the fugly thing that came with it. Well, there's no confirmation yet, and worse still, no detail on what it will be for. If they did make it, no one has said it would fit within the Q-Rau toy just yet. So let's just sit and wait.

IMHO, Hunt for Red October was Connery's film. Ford was a strong supporting cast member as Jack. Think about the film, it really was focused on Captain Marko Ramius's story. It is my favorite Tom Clancy book-to-film adaption, but the definitive "Jack Ryan" film for me is Patriot Games. It's all him! Did Paramount go back and digitally replaced Alec Baldwin's Jack Ryan with Harrison Ford in Hunt for Red October? Ooops! hahahaha...I guess Baldwin and Ford look alike to me! Even I missed that. But I gotta say, the best espionage storyline currently is... ALIAS. I'd miss Jack Ryan and James Bond to watch Alias. Maybe they should let J.J. Abrams write and direct the next Bond.

You gotta appreciate Gundamhead for making his case as nicely and well thought out as he did. Wow, the model section is more mature than that other section!!! I'm still a toy fan at heart, but these kits are too good to be passed up. But yes the whole recasting debate is just like the fansubbing debate, something that should be discussed elsewhere.

I use to work for a corporation where the top guys use to have meetings on why there were so many useless meetings. This thread is kinda like the same thing.
-
Thanks Tom. This thread was geting to be another thread were people just made arguments based on popular opinion, not on actual experience. No matter how much you hate Robotech, you still sound like an idiot by saying blind statements with no logic to back it. New members, no matter how much you expect it from them, may not always know the reasoning behind such opinions. So say it wisely or don't say anything.

Yeah...he pretty much played a Clark like character in Sniper. Not only in that movie but in the movie The Substitute did he play the same part and as an added bonus his sidekick was the guy that played ding in Clear And Present Danger. The film was focused on Marko because it felt like they were still introducing Jack to the audience, and lt's face it, Sean Connery was the bigger star. Patriot games was an excellent movie, but as always...lacked the scope of the book. The onlyu thing that really excited me was the fact that I knew Clark headed that mission in the desert that Jack was watching thru the satellite. Clear and Present Danger was even less of the scope that Patriot games was because they reduced the companies that went into Central America into one company (Knife) where in the book there was several missions going on at the same time.

The big Masamune Shirow appreciation thread
EXO replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It depends on which book you read and which part of the book. The earlier books Olympus was a nice breath of air compared to the Badlands. In Book 3, IIRC, New York was in the worse for wear, but Olympus was starting to show it's gritty side. By the end most of the action takes place in gritty parts of the city. But the city in the trailers look like it's on flatlands where Olympus in the books look like it was built on hills, where houses are stacked on top of each other, much like L.A. It makes for a more interesting, messier vista. -
I just bought a hasbro Prime today for my nephew, and I gotta say that it didn't feel as solid as the my Takara version. The joints were loose and and the parts that came off did so easily. I thought they were suppose to be the same? I didn't mention it to my nephew because I didn't want to ruin it for him. It's still worth the money, but it made spending a few more bucks for the Takara seem more sensible. Even the Megatron gun wasn't as tight.

Yup... saw this for myself earlier... like I told you earlier.... awesome work Danny!

Ben Affleck doesn't look like a Jack Ryan, but they got a much worse John Clark. I'm mean Liev Schriber as a ruthless assassin??? Rather liked Schriber as Clark myself. Professional, no remorse. A little like the Clark of the books. Sure as heck beats heroine addict in a pimp suit that was DaFoe. But some folks loved Defoe as Clark, I'll never know why. Just looked like he was still lost on the set of Platoon the whole time. Might be that I've never seen Schriber in anything else, and that I'd read the books before the movies. -Al I was so disappointed by the casting of Defoe. When I read Clancy I imagine the young Baldwin as Ryan, actually Alec Baldwin and Ryan should be the same age depending on the book you read, and Tom Berrenger as Clark. I also imagined John Leguizamo as Ding, but they got a suitable guy for the movie.
