I have the regular version... that's good enough for me. I hold out now for the special versions when I buy DVDs,but I'm not gonna rebuy the ones I have. (Unless there's a uncut unrated version of the Girl Next Door that has Elisha doing full nudity, but then again that's not rebuying it... it would just be buying it:D )

I don't have any myself but everytime I see one that I like I get the urge to start. But I know that just one will send me on a road to bancruptcy. Also as a Macross fan I always think... "man I coulda bought (however many) 1/48s with that money... (admit it you think the same way) Anyway here's a few that caught my eye... but the damn cost!

You can actually buy those by the can. You just leave it open at a place where you're trying to avoid humidity and it sucks it up. you see the can fill up with gel after a while... you throw it out and buy a new one or empty it out. Maybe you should buy some of those and put it in your basement/attic... come to think of it... so will I...

Piracy issue and all that aside... it was a simple question. No need for a witchhunt to figure out people's motives. People ask how to take apart a 1/48 valkyrie in the toy section all the time, should we jump to the conclusion that whoever asked is a bootlegger of toys and is meaning to come out with a cheaper version? I know this board is open to the entire world, but the American right "innocent before proven guilty" should always hold some value every place.

Hell, I may have to try to make one of those myself! you're joking right? those heads are the R series heads... VF-1JR, VF-1SR, VF-1AR.....they're from the Macross 2036 game from like a decade or more ago looks like some people fell for it... I thought it was pretty obvious...

A lot of DYRL is based on nostalgia... and I don't mean from us fanboys 20 years later. I mean that in 1984 it was meant to capture the feeling of someone that was familiar with the characters and the storyline. It can stand alone as a movie, but it would probably take multiple viewings to truly appreciate. When you watch it even the music pulls you to a familiar feeling... theres no way an audience today would get that. Not if they see it for the first time, not with the attention span that they can muster up and not with the demand for CG type animation. People on this board may appreciate it for what it's really worth, but to an American audience it's just another Japanese cartoon with big eyed characters and transforming robots.

What? Alec Baldwin is a great artist (didn't you watch Team America?) But seriously, he's a great actor that makes crappy movies. But give him a meaty role and he'll eat it up... ever seen the knife set scene in GlenGary GlenRoss? Michael Keaton is also a great actor, he just didnt stretch his natural comedic abilities and decided to go for the straight roles. I never saw GlenGary GlenRoss. But I have seen The Hunt For Red October (good because it was early Clancy and it has Mr Connery), The Shadow (nice visual effects, but the acting was low budget), The Cat in the Hat (I won't waste my time commenting), Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within (yes, he provided a voice for that), Pearl Harbor (it's Titanic with a love triangle), Mercury Rising (I forget what it was about it was that good), Working Girl (he was in that, but I can't remember much about it except we see Melanie Griffith topless), Married to the Mob (with a name like "Cucumber" how can you not take his role seroiusly), Bettlejuice (my two "favorite" actors - pure bliss), and She's Having a Baby (where he's only in about five minutes of the movie). Fair enough, but I think that supports my argument that he makes crappy movies moreso...

If you can get the 1/48 Hikaru then I highly recommend doing so. But they are kinda tricky to get as they have gone up in price somewhat. You also have alternatives. Get the recently rereleased 1/48 VF-1S Roy, which I think is going for an avg. $140, or find a 1/48 VF-1A Hikaru and get one of Rohby's recast 1/S head. Any of those would be a good alternative. So where's Hudson?

must get.... I love Miyatake's designs. Aside from the VF-1, I like enjoy his more than Kawamori's.

yeah... it sucked. The only thing that was kinda crappy about The Rocketeer was they tamed it down and didn't use Bette Page as a character. But they made up for it by using Jeniffer Connelly back when she was smokin' hot!
