Was a pretty good weekend for me. Starting it off at Frank and Sons and then hanging out after with a couple MWers to go to bookstores and shops. Then we went to see Batman afterwards. I missed most of Mari's time there. Got to check her out right before she left. She was gracious as ever. She a real superstar and we're lucky to have her to be a part of Macross. The funny thing was almnost everyone that brought a custom had stayed up the night before to try and finish. I miserably failed and a few of us were walking like zombies. But the party wsa fun enough to wake us all up and it turned out to be a great time.

but xstoys didn't do it for the prize... We all knew there was nothing we can give him that he didn't already have. Limiting it to one category, encourages people to bring their goods, while having only one winner counts against them... that also pits the professional model makers against each other... making it more of an equal playing field. 'Cuz if your paying for your custom, it better be damn good.

I agree and disagree... the creator should get a prize... but those customs wouldn't exist unless they were commissioned. Plus the fact that the creators don't usually show up. While the owner tend to come and support these things. (no offense to the artists, I'm sure they would love to be there.) But we want to encourage people to bring their stuff to show off. That's what these contests are for. We want as much to look at as possible. Maybe we can have a category just for commissioned work.

Gummy pilot treats started out as a joke, but might end up to be reality. nightmareb4macross went up to Rohby and told him he can do it. I don't like gummy bears but I guess I can eat the red ones.

Best custom gattling gunpod??? Honestly we almost missed it... it was behind some other toy... we liked it so much we decided to give it an award. That thing looks pretty cool. Good kitbash.

Tommy Yune showed up at the Con today with a lot of new stuff to show. First of all he shared some pretty good rare Macross Miyataki progress sketches of the Macross. Awesome stuff. you can actually see the guy developing the look of the SDF-1. It was a sock puppet presentation... Then he moved on to some rare Mospeada design art. He said that he was interested in making a Mospeada Perfect Memory Book... something that I would immediately jump on. But the new Shadow Force development presentation was pretty impressive. We got to see a small example of the animation process they are using. No actual finished animation was shown. A lot of wireframe and 3D modelling. One scene actually had voice on it. Nothing that shows how the story is. But it looks like there will be a lot of capital ships action. I'm waiting to see dogfights and more character animation. But it definitely brought the excitment level up a bit.

Considering he paid so much to get them shipped, Seichi didn't raise the price and sold to us at a discounted price. A true gentleman!

Looks like I overestimated the Batman haul this weekend. It made 71.1 Million with a take of 46.9 during the Fri to Sun. The first three Batman films broke BoxOffice records each time and the comic book movies that were #1 and recent comic book films that were #1 their release weekend made a lot more than that in just the Fri to Sun.

If I forgot anyone, I'm sorry... I hope someone will chime in and add to the list.
