Macross Δ (Delta) - announcement thread
EXO replied to renegadeleader1's topic in Movies and TV Series
This is great news having just coming down from excitement of MWCon... it's always positively overwhelming to hang out with people that just love Macross and in so many different ways. I'm gonna be hyped at every development tidbit. Who's going to win this? Who's music are they going to use? Which character designer? Can't wait to find that all out.- 2715 replies

Hey you never know... someone here might actually like that movie... what are the chances?

Jenius was spot on with the GL numbers. I looked at the DVD=Bluray numbers... +$40 million... advertising numbers... -$100 million. so over all... -$100 million for the GL. Which they already decided to reboot. I'm not a big Goyer fan either and he's pretty much in charge of the universe. Did they even see his Blade 3 directed film?

I'm pretty sure that was on the 1.5 of the ten commandments. -
Green Lantern was a $200 million production that made 116 domestic and 103 worldwide. Adjust the international gross for what the studio takes and Warner Bros. made a whopping... -40 million dollars. Now figure in a $200 million marketing machine for a summer tentpole movie.
-
I love it!!!

With a 225 million budget the domestic haul barely covers the budget of the film (not to mention marketing) which means the 42% of the international take of Man of Steel is probably where it made all of it's money. At 160 million the movie is still profitable but doesn't even double the cost to make it. But they just have to keep making them because, while these movies don't make money at first, brand loyalty is one way to make money in the long run if you don't care about story or coherence. Just look at Transformers and the Fast and Furious movies and at a lesser extent, the Resident Evil and Underworld franchise. Sad but worth it? I guess... Even the X-Men movies are not huge money makers but just enough to keep it going. A huge shake up on that universe would cause too much reverberations in the production side. Like if you remove Hugh Jackman as Wolverine then all the agents, producers and current investors would lose their place. It went from the fact that "it's better to complete a movie that you know won't be profitable" to "it's better to realize a franchise..." and now "it's really important to invest in an 'in movie universe'...". The hole these production companies are digging are getting bigger and bigger. Backstreet? or Backdoor?

Yeah. I understood what you meant. But it's to compensate for the lion mode. That's why I mentioned that the 80's version had undersized legs in lion mode. The only way to solve that would be to have removable legs and panel covers or revert to the smaller legs of the Godaikin version. Honestly the missing red from the chest bugs me more. Remember the 80's version had the red extend to the Black lion's upper thighs? And it made sense because in the animation there was the lines that seperated it from the rest of the crest base. Still not a deal breaker though... I understand what you're saying about the legs but that wouldn't be a deal breaker for me either.

I feel like the disappearing legs were just to make animation easier. I have always preferred the look of the legs showing... its just more mech looking. I love the way this Voltron looks though, even with the legs inaccuracy... The 80's version had sickly undersized legs for the arm lions. The question is quality... I'm wodering if this is going to fall apart eventually like the Toynami ones.

Various sites are reporting Jena Malone as Carrie Kelly, who many would know shows up in the comic book, Dark Knight Returns as the last Robin... It doesn't even make sense... Carrie Kelly would be way too old for an Affleck Batman. Even without this rumor, it's already the boy band version of superhero universes.

Man Masei Helmets have to stop creating fake girlie accounts on facebook and spamming the Macross World Page. They keep creating threads here also. I'm about to flag them and any accounts like colonyknight as spammers.

Yes... I saw that too and the handcuff... certainly plausible but having checked it now... definitely not her. I don't really know why they killed her off. I thought they could have done more with her.

awesome! And conveniently already in L.A.'s native language! -
Yeah, but the in the same season they kept making it seem like it would be tragic if this or that character was to die but you knew it didn't matter in a world where witches where constantly bringing everyone back to life. The first Season was smarter because the dead stays dead in a ghost story but the actors stay part of the cast because they're haunting the house. There was just way too much ways to be resurrected in the last season.
