All of this is speculative... just as most people here would speculate that Big West would pull the Macross license from Yamato if they were to deal with HG. And why would Yamato deal with the company that stopped them from issuing their Macross Plus products around the world? I'm pretty sure they lost a pretty penny from that debacle.

Anyone that wants full details can contact me, as they already have. I dont want to put anything down that isn't solid yet. If I'm gonna announce a prize I want it to be firmly in my hands. And I'm not going to go any lower than $30 for a chance of a toys that are worth a lot more and usually end up appreciating in prize. I dont want people to play a $20 for crappy toys that will end up with no value. The game isn't just for us to gamble and win prizes, most of it is to ease the burden of cost for the Con itself. Last year a lot of people complained about having to pay for both CD(Mari Iijima) and food. This way we can pay for the food and have people not have to pay to get in the Con and if there is any money left we can pay for Mari Iijima (or other guests). As of now, the $30 buy ins will only pay for the prizes and the food. If people think $40 or $50 is fair then I'd like to up it, so we can allow for more things for the Con. People always say they would donate to the site or the community, well here's a chance, and a choice, for anyone that's coming to L.A. anyway. And the added bonus of it being a lot of fun. We have these poker games weekly and it's never been NOT fun. People always end up staying longer than they have to.

Tatsanuko already fell apart, they sold most of their properies to Takara I believe, but a small portion of it went to HG. I'm guessing HG got the 3 robotech serieses, Speed Racer and maybe Gachaman. That's just a guess though. It's been a while since I read those articles. But if I remember accurately, there's no way Tatsanuko can reclaim Mospeada.

If I did, can anyone point it out? 382296[/snapback] Well, robotech.com is controlled by HG, and if they sell Garlands that means that they are making money out of something Yamato made (and they sure got a deal to drop the price 35% more than HLJ). So if RT.com tries some of Yamato’s higher quality stuff and sells and Toynami is just making Robotech merchandise because HG has a contract with them (which I imagine could expire some day), then, as I said, this could benefit us in the future. I just want to be positive about this (and saving 50$ on a Yamato toy is one of the most positive things our wallets have seen in a long time). 382315[/snapback] What I'm saying is that for RT.com or HG to sell Garlands, they dont necessarily have to talk to Yamato. They could just approach them as a distributor just like anyone with a resell license. There's no concrete news of any deal that has been made, and saying so is just assumption. RT.com selling Garlands doesn't mean HG is trying Yamato's "higher quality merchandise, it's not like they invested money to have Yamato build the toy... all they did was buy a bunch of cases and is selling them for below MSRP. Which is actually f*'d up if you think about it. This forces the other distributors like TMP to lower their prices passed MSRP. I remember when the Alphas came out and a couple of online stores marked them down to be sold at $50 and Toynami sent them a letter to put it back up to $80 or else they would be unable to recieve products from them. Basically RT.com is diong the same thing. Devaluing Yamato toys while claiming the Garland as part of their property. Because the last time they didn't act on something, it cost them the rights.

What VF-0?

That's what I was thinking of. If we do it at $30 it would only pay for the prizes for the tournament and the food for both days, which I can deal with. I'm hoping people that are interested can discuss it since it's still far away. I didn't expect the GBP and the VF-0 to be at the price point they are at.

The new VF-0 coming out is going to be 1/60 scale, not 1/48.

There's no proof that Yamato made a deal with HG to sell the Garlands. Robotech.com coulda just bought a whole bunch of those toys from any of the retrailers that they are in contact with. Wow! I like it!

On either cartoon, it would have been stupid to change the story. The fact that it bothers you that Roy died was the point. You're emotionally invested in a likeable character. While Hikaru, Misa and Minmay were the core of the story. If Roy lived then the story would have been more about him and Claudia. Roy's death makes him iconic... kinda like Bruce Lee and Marylin Monroe.

The first season didn't bore me... the second season was kinda slow... I still need to finish it.

We're looking at $40 to $50 buy in. Proceeds will go to the prizes, food, service and maybe for special guests for the game and MWCon recalculated the buy in. $30 is way too little to throw something like this.

I'm gonna guess this project is dead or on life support... he asked for help here and the fan section and I don't think he recieved any volunteers. Awesome stuff though!

OK, so a couple of us decided to throw a poker tournament the day before the actual Macrossworld Con. As a way to entertain the people that come from different parts of the country and since the local people get together and play anyway. There will only be 30 spots open and I have a few people that are already asked for reservations. I wanted to keep the prizes a secret but it's already been revealed that a 1/48 GBP armor is one of them. But I can tell you this... that's not THE top prize. Also, the friday before the tounament, we will have a really cheap all day cash game. Just to teach people that don't know how to play, but decided to join the tournament. People that didn't get in the tournament can join if they want. Or if you just want to sit in and have fun then, by all means, come down and play.
