  1. you guys might want to check out the topic at hand here.
  2. OK... that's a bit of a stretch. We all know the difference between sci-fi and scientific. Either way it seems like no one went to see this movie.
  3. EXO

    Please Read

I have diagnosed this as a form of VF-Osteoperosis - Dr. EXO
  4. I change yours to Captain obvious...
  5. uhmmm.... Eeeee...shuess!!!
  6. The TOS is about to be upgraded... I'm gonna put a word in to open up this section to a broader (not too broad) subject matter. I think it was Duke Togo that suggested it should be Sci-fi, Anime, Fantasy and Action Adventure... how's that? Didn't see this film... looked like a rental to me. See! Things are getting done even when you think it's not...
  7. who's THEY? We are talking about the ship and the people that made the movie. Not the outside government.
  8. nice one. Yeah, it would cause a riot if the ship told everyone that their families have been notified of their demise.
  9. I dont care about G1 or whatzits... but to make them shaped organicly to me defeats the putpose... maybe Eugimon has never seen an Alt or BT... they have seats and room for riders. And who the heck cares about riders... they drive themselves. how many people were ever in a TF in the cartoon... Spike and his dad. Those guys dont' even know how to take off those damn construction hats. And you're telling me that changing into those new forms in the movie gives Eugimon a point? Why doesn't he ask that about those flying scraps of metal. Ugly is ugly... which those things are. I've never like the moving metal faces. That's why I prefer Macross.
  10. While looking for an image on the web I ran into this topic... Shao Pai Lon was shot when they've already touched down on Earth so the audience was there. The budget for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was 15 million in 2000 which is still a decent budget for a small production considering Kung Fu Hustle was done for 20 million. And with Minmay being the newest hottest pop star, I'm sure 30 million wasn't that hard to approve to have her star in it. The problem was, they weren't allowed to get supplies during that time. No one was allowed on or off the Macross so most of the sets and costumes would have been made on board. BTW, I was looking to see if they had a big version of the Shao Pai Lon poster, I think I've seen it before.
  11. I'm not a big Transformers fan but I've always thought a big movie with transforming robots would be cool to watch. But the designs as I see it go against everything I like about giant transforming robots, the fun of seeing where the parts end up after changing shape, plus not to mention the robot designs themselves are hideous. Then you add Michael Bay to the mix... man he's just a bad director that knows how to put good postcard shots into movies, but over all his movies are overwhelmingly cheesy. One postcard shot is good, but one after the other over a bad story makes my eyes want to explode. I think I threw up during Pearl Harbor, after the the third time I left. And as far as G1 designs looking bad photorealistically, I wholeheartedly disagree... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngLOIOSqRvg
  12. that's weak... I wouldnt let Yamato see that.
  13. Yes! I love it... more Macross sites for me to peruse! You should PM Egan to look it over. I'm sure he'll geek out over it.
  14. It'd be cool if they did reanimate the original show, but added a lot of scenes to make it fresh and correct the mistakes. I would definitely add to Roy's death so it wouldn't be so cheesy, Same thing for M&M's relationship. It'd be like adding in deleted scenes and remastering it. Using the original voices and newly recorded ones using the original actors... obviously there wouldn't be any new Hikaru scenes added but there's already enough of those.
  15. The Hasegawa details are non canon. But at 1/24th scale how can you not add the details? The Yamato panel lining is more accurate but proportionally it's off in many areas. Hasegawa isn't perfect either. Where Yamato took privileges for transformation purposes, Hasegawa took some for aesthetics. I say, get both and plenty of reference material and setle on a good balance of everything. You may already know the answer... grasshoppa!
  16. I think that's more of you having a fetish than making a good story point...
  17. The whole thing about Misa was that she focused herself in her military work after her boyfriend died that she became inept in dealing with other men. The fact that Hikaru was interested in another girl made it easier for them to get together, where he wasn't constantly hitting on her. The fact that she had to constantly discipline him is probably what finally got to Hikaru.
  18. If Yamato was gonna add panel lines, I'd rather go ahead further than that and weather the whole thing ala BBI 1:18 scale toys... panel lines without the weathering looks kinda goofy unless you want that fake anime look and even then it looks bad. It looks more like awful video game cell shading than anime. But Yamato sucks at weathering so I'd rather they just freakin stick to trying to get their QC up to spec.
  19. I have backups... but now I got the originals... so I'm guilt free for cheap!!!
  20. I bought them all and I plan to ebay it to all of you guys at $250!!! MWUHAHAHAHAHHA!!!
  21. Ahhh, crap... I thought it was stupid at first but I couldnt help cracking up at a lot of those.
  22. For anyone interested, there's a Q&A with Guillermo Del Toro tonight at the 7:55pm screening at the Arclight in Hollywood. Unfortunately I wont be able to make it. But if anyone goes please give us a report of how it was.
  23. Am I suppose to get that reference or do I have to be somekind of uber-nerd?
  24. Convince them to change their mind about 2 seaters! Seriously... that's all we're waiting for (and a macross of course) but to think that they're so dead set against making 2 seaters is... well... unthinkable. Break them down Graham!
  25. The show was American but the Transformers (G1) were designed in Japan as toys from different lines.
