The CF 1J got it's own thread here. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=29102 Probably new to some people, so thanks for the contribution. Try to make your posts on this thread links to actual posts in threads but if you can't find it, that's ok.

It's insane that both Enterbay and Hot Toys are coming out with Marlon Brando Godfather figures. They're almost the same as far as accessories and look. Hot Toys even resculpted theirs to compete against Enterbay I guess. I'm not interested in getting it but I'm still blown away by the quality.

Thanks! Posted it here! http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...st&p=721535

Should I read the Watchmen before seeing the movie?
EXO replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
If you havent read it, watch the movie first. I read this a long time ago and I'm gonna see it first before I reread it. I've forgotten most of the story. I've read the Sandman books a couple of times, but if they made a movie I would have to reread it again just to see the differences. -
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SDF1 LAUNCH PARTY
EXO replied to MACROSS8511's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
awesome... This thing is down the street... I'm in Lakewood! -
Welcome to being the third comany that has a 1/100 valk line, Yamato! Because the purple 1/72 YF-21 needs to make a reappearance... I think that there's a part of you that secretly wants it in December.

I dont get why Yamato sculptors get such a bad rap... I think most of their stuff is great. Plus John designs his stuff to be static. The last few toys, aside from the priest collar of the 1/60s v.2 have been really exceptional. The Destroids are so awesome. Besides... I remember a time when MW didnt mind a few innaccuracies... they just popped it open and fixed it.

Actually I was thinking of that also... a stand and those giant pylons for the space fortress before it launches.

I like that the handle is Negotiator but there's no room to negotiate.

"reports from Japanese fans" would count as speculation.

I don't see what the panic is all about, it's not like Yamato is shy about making the same toy in different scales.
-
oh... from your original post I thought you were just looking for any pics... not updated ones. I dont think they resculpted it because if you look at Hobbystock's page they have the same photos with one tiny pic in the corner where the helmet is off.

I think we're veering off topic here. It's cool to mention the state of the economy and how it affects your toy buying ability, but let's not turn this into an Economics thread, I think there's already a thread for that anyway. I don't think that economics should be a major part of the discussion anyways, even if the toy is expensive. If the economy is affecting you that greatly then buying a toy shouldn't be on your list of priorities. These toys are expensive, with or without the upcoming Macross. I'm sure Yamato has done studies as to what most of their customers can afford before even going to development stage. Where was this sense of sense of wisdom when you were collecting tons and tons of other toys? Just because you went thru some sort of epiphany does that mean we all should wake up to the same sense of reason? I don't think that toy collecting is like ovulation where we begin to hit the same rhythms... I just haven't bled out yet in that case.

But the Wave has an overly complicated transormation that made it ugly. I'm not sure if they did it due to the ridiculous tininess of it. The Takatoku TV version had a perfect transformation system, but the DYRL doesn't transform quite the same. Simpler is better and easier to accomplish with the larger size. If the VF-1s were 1/32 scale you wouldnt need the swing bar... it'll probably be able change more accurately.

We've already seen the Rey head sculpt here... hoping that Toynami won't change it... Still not happy about the fabric... but I'm all set to customize it...
-
I said the same thing here... Basing my assumption on the same things Mog said. The Alpha/Combo. The Macross seems like a big toy in Macross standards but not compared to other toys and even if you factor in that Macross is not as popular and Yamato is not as big as a company as say... Takara/Tomy... I don't think the price would multiply by that much. If you compare the Starscream or the Toynami Veritechs to the 1/48 the price difference isnt that substantial. Well it is... but not exponential as the prices people are saying the Macross would be.

They would decompress and burst out of their skin so they are considerably smaller as people. Then there was that one that just assimilated surrounding mechanical parts... never really made much sense, but looked cool at the time.

Cool I can't wait to watch this... maybe they can redo Voltes V also!
-
why no else is replying... haha. Why not just wait for Aoshima to come out with theirs and get one of their Blue Legioss. You know your a Robotech nerd when you see a red head and you ask her if the Alpha matches the Beta...

The Monster wasn't a downsize. The 1/100 was a resin kit that was turned into a toy. Too bad they didnt give it enough work to actually translate it correctly. The Toyami Beta has similar sized forearms and there's no problems with that staying up. But it seems to me that the way they engineer things now, like the Destroids, they'll have metal ball joints and ratchets covered. (though the Tomahawk's waist joints suffer from top heaviness). Those that don't think that Yamato will come out with this doesnt realize that there's an 18" $600 doll right next to it in display. I would think that they would hope that it's successful enough to warrant a TV version and then maybe they'll consider a smaller scale toy. With a year I would hope they get any major kinks out. And I don't think it's that big of a toy. I have the Hot Toys Alien Power Loader, was hoping for the ED-209, a big Iron Giant, the 18" Spider-Man action figure... I mean, yeah sure it means I had to get rid of my King size and have to sleep on a foot stool in the corner of the room.... it's no big deal! It wouldnt be the Holy Grail if it was that easy to obtain...
