It'd have to be like the Godfather where they put a severed head of a horse with a macross symbol on its forehead... nah I'd probably add that to the display...

and people wonder why Big West doesnt want to deal with HG.... Floodgates... don't open it!

I can somewhat understand clamoring to the need of Robotech stuff. At the time when there were no Macross/Robotech/Mospeada stuff I would have bought anything. I wanted the Arii toys but never got to them. But now with the influx of merchandise I can be choosy and even spit on some Macross merchandise. And of course Robotech stuff are way below that mark becuse they never really chose to market anything worthwhile. Except for the Beagle Cyclones, but let's face it, those were made for Mospeada fans, merchandised as RT product.

The flamewar is so early 2000s! haha... MEMO is actually a friend of mine... We just disagree on a lot of stuff concerning Macross/Robotech fandom.
-
You can do that for a fan art book but you can't build an animation/toy merchandise licensing company around it. And the art book would be a mess, It would be an amalgamy of different styles and design ideals. have you ever seen Robotech Art Book 2?
-
that's why I defended it, but after lineart for SC came out and especially after the comic books came out, it became apparent to me that he wasn't up to snuff with creating his own universe. I based my opinion on his work with Speed racer comic books and earlier Robotech art. Again... as I previously argued, Macek went as far with the original source to make it work because it was still grounded in the original art that depended on the creators. But the word "team" means the further manipulations that the current collaborators clearly can't handle. It just doesn't have any nuance from the original animations left and is replaced with a complete mess. Again, using the Robotech Art books as an example, chronicling Robotech would fall short of what Macross, Mospeada and Southern Cross can give you. Depending on what HG has in hand legally would never amount to what Perfect Collection and the Gold Book can give you back then and what Macross Chronicles can give you now. We have seen what you can do with HG materials... And it always falls short of the quality that any anime or sci-fi fans are used to, especially with today's standards. They're just not equipped with the passion nor do they intend to spend the money that could make it work. Compare anything that HG did on their own to anything that their contemporaries deliver... Yamato VF-1 toys to Toynami designed VF-1 toys New Macross animation to Shadown Chronicles Beagle Mospeada to original non Beagle MPC cyclone HG (or Toynami) never has the true passion for their deliveries because they approach their products as fanboys and the same quality would come out of a fanboy based "chronicle" of Robotech. You can stay away from the critism but it doesnt make it less true. They can't afford anyone that would produce actual quality work. already answered above.

I don't really understand how you can choose to reference SOME creator sources and still choose to keep other post-Macek stuff. Like I said that's where you sever the ties from the original creators... not just Macross but Southern Cross and Mospeada. You can't say that Chronicles is a reliable source and still imply that that Protoculture can be defined as a source of fuel or power... that's why you can't truly chronicle Robotech stuff without it becoming fanfic.

You know I actually defended Tommy Yune's art, I think it was Maia, when it first came to light, but after seeing the rest of the designs for SC stuff come out, I concede to the people I argued against.
-
I'd say its a lot different. Macross Chronicles is a collection of creator documented information whereas none of the Robotech stuff will be straight from the creators because right from the time where Macek plucked and changd the stories, it forever cut ties with what the creator intended it to be. Aside from Macross II the original creators always had a hand in the mythology and design of what makes Macross. I as I said before, I enjoyed Robotech when it originaly aired because what we were seeing on screen was still the work of the artist that drew my attention. Just like it was enjoyable to look at the first Robotech Art book (but once I obtained the original Perfect Memory and Gold Book it really failed to compare.) But once you put the art and story to the hands of the fans, current HG personell included... it really does become more of just fanart and fanfic. Stuff that I just can't even begin to take seriously. Not because I don't think new people can take up the torch, I just don't think that the people that currently are taking up the torch can't even hold a candle. That goes not onlyh with the new animations, but with the toys and other merchandise they hawked over the years. Outsourcing worked for the current toy lincensees... maybe outsourcing to actual pros can fix the Robotech continuity... but since the source has never been totally solid and has already been further diluted by the current continuity, I dont think it can be brought to a sensible future.

I guess mine would be called: Blame!EXO A post apocalyptic future caused by... well, you know who.

Ai Oboete Imasu Ka? Do You Remember Love? Lyrics
EXO replied to Starchild's topic in Movies and TV Series
That was kinda bad too... Here's my take... I stretched it to the beat of the song while trying to keep a faithful translation... DO YOU REMEMBER LOVE I hear your sweet voice whisper, asking me to come near A call so tender, I can’t hold back a single tear your sillhouette approaches closer, making your way towards me I close my eyes tight, as I wait here patiently Though it was clouded, by the tears I cried yesterday My heart beats joyfully Do you remember that single moment, when our eyes met for the first time Do you remember that single moment, when your hand first brushed against mine A moment that sparked our heartbeats and gave it full of life I love you so And though there's lightyears between us, I can still see your eyes My body longing, I can still feel your loving warmth And though your absence leaves me with emptiness in my heart There’s no danger that can ever keep us apart Though it was clouded, by the tears I cried yesterday My heart beats joyfully Do you remember that single moment, when our eyes met for the first time Do you remember that single moment, when your hand first brushed against mine A moment that sparked our heartbeats and gave it full of life I love you so Loneliness, fades away I am safe, now you're with me Do you remember that single moment, when our eyes met for the first time Do you remember that single moment, when your hand first brushed against mine A moment that sparked our heartbeats and gave it full of life I love you so Loneliness, fades away I am safe, now you're with me Loneliness, fades away I am safe, now you're with me I had to try cuz it was kinda painful to hear that Vee girl try to fit those lyrics to the music... -

the rest is accurate, but the last line is "Indeed, I love you so" there's a more legible copy in the DYRL book in the Misa section. I agree though, it doesn't fit with the rhythm of the song that well. -
The scoop thread does really does depend on membership participation. It's just impossible to keep up with all those threads and the amount of posts in them. We just have to try our best to clean up the thread.

it looks just like a valk, except for the chicken stance... Reminds me of Rohby's bomber zero, except rohby has more originality...
