I was excited about the Sentinels when it was first announced but after I got the Art Book and read the story, I was like "oh no! They're going to turn a cool series into Star Trek. With the lame aliens and weird plots. I never got into a lot of TV sci-fi because what made the ETs different were cheap prosthetics like pointy ears or bulky foreheads and the three cartoos that made Robotech up either had humans or something really weird like the Invids. Plus I love the military based technologies. That's why I was more into Cameron's Aliens and Bladerunner. I'm glad The Sentinels never went to air, but even then I don't think any of the Macross sequels were that good either.

I'm not kidding... There were longer clips but they're in quicktime files. SC was probably better than an average fan can do but nowhere near what present anime should look like and the designs DO look like bad fanart. If you're comparing something that came out a couple of years ago to something that came out in the 1980's, I would say that THAT isn't fair.

I'd have to go even one more step further and say that Harmony Gold/Robotech.com is just a licensed money backed fan club. The animation they put out looks like fanart, the toys Toynami makes for them are mass produced fan projects and the comic books don't even look as good as the fanart we see in the character appreciation thread in the TV/Movie section. Why do you think people that get tired of RT.com come here and become Macross fans? Even worse, a couple of posts up it's mentioned that someone gets banned and becomes a Gundam fan instead. There's no sustainable life for Robotech passed the original airings. I'm a fan of that Robotech, but anything beyond is just garbage because even though they have money, they'll never have enough to invest it in something worthwhile. There were a couple of animators in this site who's projects looked better than Shadow Chronicles and when someone asked them why don't they work for HG, the answer was always "they can't afford me." PLUS... even if there was money, the people in charge creatively will most likely never give up their foothold and hire real writers and designers. You can only be a fan of the original airing of Robotech because THAT still had the touches and nuances of the original creators. Professionals that were hired and collaborated to make something good within their own element. The only chance Robotech has is if the live action movie gets made and was actually good. But if you become a fan of that, you'll be a fan of something completely different, not the Robotech you became a fan of.

I've never bought their books either but that further proves that a less known publishing company can overtake Image's starpower with their crappy books. Again they are just trying to retain rights to character that they changed enough to be able to make money off them, even though they are almost the same as their Marvel counterparts... C'mon... Pitt/Hulk by Dale Keown? Wildcats and Cyber....whatevers from former Xmen artists? hmmm... alright well I'm gonna assume this has all been argued before in some comic book forum so I'll drop it. My point was that I would have more respect with the whole creator's rights thing if there was more creativity involved. An Image book called Th Maxx comes to mind, even though Sam Keith drew another big bulging Marvel character it was different enough to call it it's own thing. Back to McFarlane... I hear he wants to direct this. He rather have a small budget and direct it on his own than have a bigger budget director take a shot at it. I don't know what spells disaster more. I'd rather rewatch Darkman, it's probably going to feel the same.

But they never created just cloned. Dark Horse did more for actual creators. Why do you think Frank Miller, Mike Mignolia and people with actual originality went there. Image just found a way to do the same books that they did for Marvel under a different name. IDW just surpassed Image as the third largest comic book publisher. If their titles were so great then how can they lose that place?

The drama between Roger and the book and HG has nothing to do with MW. A few pics were posted and were taken down. But everything else happened outside this site.

The whole Image thing is disappointing, the came out of the gates thinking they were going to rock the world of Comic books but they just stole characters and perverted them so they could make money off them. The only good that came out of it was they brought coloring into the new millennium. Spoiled bunch that came out of the evil speculator's boom of the 90s. Most of those guys never even finished their books, they started handing them out to paler comparison of themselves. Same thing with DreamworksSKG... the company that would revolutionize motion pictures that just became a jerk off session for rich and powerful entertainment moguls.

hmmm... if I would have saw this thread earlier I probably would have shut it down because it looked like it was going to be another love or hate the mods discussion. But it didn't really so I won't close it for now... and everything I wanted to say have been said for me. I don't really want to hear "poor EXO" anything because like jenius said, you really have to have a thick skin to be a mod. And I honestly believe that even though we always say it's a thankless job, we actually don't want praise or anything like that. The quieter it is, the happier the mods are. While I guess I do appreciate the concern... lol. Another thing I want to mention is that we don't really want to antagonize anyone. While I was a bit annoyed with Macrossman on another thread, I do recognize the fact that he's a great Macross fan and see that he points people towards the right direction when people ask questions. Mods don't really act on grudges, but they tend to show aggression when things go out of hand. And by out of hand, yes... I do mean the silly little internet arguments that we're too embarrassed to even discuss out in public. But that's what they all are, silly. But if we don't act on it as moderators, they become even sillier. Does the banning of Ryno make him a bad guy? I think we all agree that he's a nice guy that is super enthusiastic about Macross. But the fact is, he can't handle being a member that stay within the rules even when we give him the leeway that other people don't demand. It's sad but it's the truth. (and please don't ask for his return because that bridge has long been burned.) I hear a lot of people say "it's just the internet" but that statement is so far from the truth... It's THE Internet... Where anyone can start a blog and become a voice wouldn't otherwise reach the public (hello Harry Knowles/Perez Hilton.) Where people can steal your identity and ruin your life. Where kids are in danger from strangers in their own houses. If there's one phrase I hate it's "Relax, it's just the internet." We're all on it and we're responsible for what we say as long as there are search engines to find it. If you say one wrong thing you can bet there's going to be someone that can find it and put it in your face when the time comes. So silly as it may sound, the arguments still need to be regulated by the members and mods alike. I too think that MW has gotten better over the years as far as the tone and the harmony (oooh bad word to choose) of the community. There was a time were the mention of Robotech would spark venom and sometimes almost spill blood. But I think we're mostly over that. I'm still a critic of some stuff but man, it use to be a freakin witch hunt back then. Oh... and since we're discussing stuff... you know what I can't stand??? When people pull up old threads, there's always someone complaining about "wow, way to resurrect a thread from the grave" But then when someone starts a new thread about something previously discussed there's always the comment "Already discussed here on freakin page 13"... and most of the time, it's the same person complaining, you know who you are!!! Make up your mind... new thread or search for an older one!! So anyway, yeah.... don't worry about us mods. We can hold our own. We're used to being in the deepest ends of the love/hate spectrum. And as everyone else that said it, this is my favorite site, thanks for everyone that makes it so. (WTF... don't bring out the nice guy in me! Everyone should just STFU!!!)

I had a long pinky nail when I had sculpting classes in school. People were tatally disgusted by it but it was just so much faster than picking up a spatula sometimes. I don't know if anyone else does that or if that what the guy had it for. As for the girl she should be in porn, I almost believe her excitedness. SUGOI!

Oh it was going to get a lot uglier if it would have continued, only because I find your little stunts and whinings offensive, though I stayed quiet about it until now (starting with the last thread). The thing is, this obviously stemmed out of ONE isolated event that you couldn't get over. I guess the mods should have a 100% record because anything else is unacceptable. Just for the record... Macrossman is not on any "ban radars" or anything (that I know of). He's definitely on my annoyance radar personally, not on any official terms. And if you open up a forum for it, I'll certainly address it.

If it was one particular incident then it really is a personal thing. If it was an event that constantly made members unhappy then it's an issue. That's what I'm getting at. And what's your definition of ugly. The little remarks you leave all over the forums about "watch your back, you don't have to do anything to suffer the wrath of the mods" is ugly... so now all of a sudden we're civilized? Give me a break. Keep it coming Macrossman, and I'll show you exactly what you're after.

Are you really sure it's not about you? First you say that there really is no issue but you want to make it better. The way I keep seeing it is your not happy about one thing and until it's molded to the way you want it, you're not gonna drop it. I'm assuming that the issue isn't me because I never let the hammer down on you. I'm just the one that constantly notice that you want some sort of member rise up just to have it... for Ryno? maybe? And I think that your use of such words like "dangerous" and "immature" is still just another way of spinning things to bend the argument your way. I'm happy about most of the replies on here, but I know you're not going to stop until you hit the nerve you're looking for and then run with that. To me that's where it's "dangerous" and "immature". But not enough to concern me. I'm sure whatever little issue you have will turn out to be some small selfish waste of time.

This thread is less about moderating styles and more about Macrossman... it's unfair until I get it my way. You even admitted to it. You ignore it unless you agree with it. That's a good way of dealing with things. And seriously, what is your opinion? The only opinion you have is "the mods suck, you better watch yourself." But no real opinion about the site itself. You were burned once and you just can't get over it. If the mods here are such tyrants then why are you still posting? You'd think that one of us insanely unjust a-holes woulda banned you by now. And no, that's not a warning... just a point you have to consider. Quit picking on your wounds and let it heal already.

Macrossman is the best reason for a mod not to explain their action. No matter how much I've explained why Ryan is banned and will always be banned no matter how much he tries to get back in, his reply will be "why not just let the guy back in?" Or if a seller reports him for trolling his thread, his reply is "well he posted that he wants to get rid of it, now's his chance... why doesn't he take my deal..." He just ignores the mods explanation and mulls over how the mods hate him. I'm sure he has a retort to this post on how unjust I am... like I said before, it's the few like him that complain over and over how unfairly this forum is ran. As long as the overwhelming majority don't complain, that's what matters most. There's a few things that I don't like about the forum, but if no one else is saying anything, I'm assuming that it's just a personal pet peeve. I too think that this thread served it's purpose a while back... I was hoping that it would just die on it's own as the subject matter doesn't deserve the platform it's given. Or maybe another mod would finally give it the lockity lock!
