Well, you know... after making the millions from the Thunder Hammer I decided I can afford to get 3, one for each mode... both the prototype and the completed version due next year. That one is going to be more so.... looks like I have to churn out more THs... no kidding! I was having lunch on the French Riviera the other day with Captain America and neither of is could afford real champagne to go with the caviar we had to drink some crappy napa valley crystale! ... tough times! I was thinking of tipping the maitre'd but I decided that I'm just gonna save up for the Macross... Sacrebleu!

The Quarter doesn't do it for me... must have original!

In any case it's a fraked up thing for Yamato to do. Even if I had the 2K to spare to buy this thing the fact that they can't figure out a way to make this available for more collectors at a lesser price tells me that they haven't learned much as far as how to sell their toys. I mean we're buying the same toy how many times? They come out with the VF-1 in how many schemes and slight variations but its still the same freakin toy. I understand the fact that other kits out there are ridiculously priced but who's releasing these kits? But there are also other toy companies making larger toys in a limited run. Hot Toys is a perfect example. They released ED-209 and it was $150 retail here in the US. Now they have the massive and I mean MASSIVE 1/6 scale Batmobile. And it's way under $500. I understand that Batman is a more popular market, but how big of market are we talking about for a batmobile that size. I would say it's pretty comparable to a small believable run for an SDF-1 that's 2 ft tall. I've always been a wait and see type of person. When people were freakin out about the $600 pricepoint of the Beagle, I didn't jump and yelled murder. And when they speculated that this was going to be $500, I also took the wait and see stance. But in no way did I ever expect a louse unpainted model kit at $2300. If this is indeed just a sale of a prototype version, then Yamato should come clean and say so, and then do something special for people that are buying the kits that the "regular" customers will never get to sweeten that deal. But to announce it this way is just bad relations for us loyal fans. A big disappoinment. I don't care what side of the ocean we're in. I'm sure Yamato doesn't complain what type of cash they're raking in. Bad, Bad way of doing things....

The one we bought WAS the $30 fan racer... our price is after shipping and fees for picking it up at the convention.
-
I hope you're right... hmmm.... prototype... maybe I'll srping for one... LOL! Yeah... maybe the Yamato execs are sitting down and reading this while laughing to themselves... "So... what do you think of the $500 pricepoint now! Suckas!!!"

Newbie question regarding older Macross/Robotech toys from the 80'
EXO replied to victoryleo19's topic in Toys
Ummm... Macrossworld is a good site I hear... http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/toys/_toys_menu.htm -
I own one of those too? So the f what? It's a POS. It hurts either way, just because you feel better about it, it makes you want to gloat? Why don't you buy every POS Toynami toy and keep laughing at everyone else if it'll make you feel that much better.

Sorry. Missed it. I guess it needed to be addressed anyway.

It'd be silly to even consider recasting it. First of all it's not even produced yet far from being an out of production kit from a defunct company. Second, who would take apart a 2k kit to recast third the cost of recasting that size won't be worth it fourth, you can't reproduce the joints required to transform it. The special material they're using for this piece can't be replaced by regular resin you're better off building one from the ground up.

When they said that the Beagle Mospeada was going to be $600 I didnt want to get it even though it wasn't so far out of reach because I wouldn't have been able to play with it. At $500 I probably wouldn't have transformed the Macross that much but I'd be happy to display it and pick it up. At $2000 I'd be to nervous to have it around. But as limited as it is, I think Yamato has already pre-decided that it's not for me.
-
that's ridiculous... if it wasn't limited it wouldn't be that much. I don't get the point of making it and then limiting it to a smalll run. It's kind of a slap in the face to the people that supported Yamato Macross toys for this long...
-
It's not... people keep freaking out about shelf space or whatever and it's not tha massive of a toy. I think it's a good size.
-
Hopefully by 2012 we'll all be on the Megarodo... it'll be like Noah's Ark...lol.

Regarding the 2 Minmays... it represents one of the genius strokes of the original Macross (series andmovie). It was like they pre-injected nostalgia into it. With the closing credits of the series and how it goes thru the scrap book and the melancholy farewell song (I'm assuming, I don't know Japanese). But that scene with the 2 Minmays. like Lonewolf says, it's about saying goodbye to the Minmay that could have been or Minmay seeing herself and the whole Love triangle from the outside.

lol. you guys are arguing how to sell it already? What MW won't argue. All I said it that it would be a nice option AFTER they are done milking the mold.

I like the look, I thinit's pretty close. And A-team was never the pinnacle of TV writing... so I don't think that part of it was going to be ruined. Joe Carnahan's action scenes in Smoking Aces were pretty good but the story was inane. I think as long as the story is decent I'll end up enjoying it.

Isn't that the whole dynamic of the character? I mean, if everyone got along with him it would ruin it. Even I'm suspicious of him. He seems like he's more into the ship than getting off it and back to Earth.

that's so sexist... her eyes are up there eugi!

that looks like a man to you? You need to get out of thailand.

It wouldnt be like Yamato to stick a Prometheus/Deadalus set on a DYRL Macross... it'll most likely come with an SDF:M version if they see that this version did well.
-
it's still a good idea. After they milk the mold , even with their custom schemes people will always have their own in mind. I wish they did it to the 1/48s also.
-
Spedfish, let's see some pics of your mods... I'm gonna go for the blowsuperior custom also. Though it's gonna be awhile for me to begin on it. Got some other projects in the way. It's too bad a Fuke mod is almost impossible.

I would totally watch a Max Headroom movie, that show was way before it's time. They can just motion capture Matt Frewer now.
