Saw the movie last Friday night and I loved it. While the story was basic and predictable, I felt like it hit all the right marks and kept up the excitement. I didnt' feel bored at all and I was operating on 3 hours sleep. I don't know if it was me or the glasses but I really couldn't see the 3D. I know everyone in the theatre was amazed but I'm going to see it in a different theatre just to check it out. A lot of the leaps in technology are not viewable on screen but what was there certainly worked. I wasn't into the Navi designs from the start but once you see them in context to humans I think it worked pretty well. The fact that they were giants made their awkward form less awkward. But the part I enjoyed the most were the mech battles and action. It really delivers on what a movie is suppose to do and that's to make you believe in a whole other world. I believe that the technology is amazing but I don't buy that this will advance movie making that much because I don't think other directors will know how to take advantage of it. Only a few will even use it right. Everytie something good comes out all we get are a couple of dozen bad imitators. I just can't wait for the next cameron flick.

Well since the thread keeps getting bumped I guess I'll post something to look at.

I don't think this is the thread for this.

I have no interest in this movie either. So much so that I keep posting on this thread. But I'm hoping it holds up to my expectations of wide disappointment and general failure. Even though I don't care at all for the flick. Can anyone that has seen the movie please confirm to me how bad it is? So I can be happy in my prediction and gloat in everyone's awe of how right I am?

I'm aware of the tracing and how ridiculous that was... but I've never seen Greg Lane trace any artwork. My point of posting here was to speak up for one artist that drew his own stuff and drew it as a fan at a time when there were no harsh distinction on what can and can't be used as far as the comic books.

I think you're taking it a bit too seriously there. The fact is that back when the comic book was done there wasn't really a fine line of what was Robotech and what was Macross. People that were Robotech fans became Macross fans and saw new designs that weren't in the series. The fine line between wasn't drawn until HG started claiming everything that was Macross as their property and that's when the fans started taking sides. I dont believe that HG ever took part on what the artists and comic book companies put in their pages, or were even interested. And as far as look, I prefer the manga look also, but it's just a subjective opinion to say what is right. Because it's standard practice for American comic books to let the artist interpret the story, so what is going on here isn't straight out plagiarism but an adaptation that an artist was paid to do. I remember buying the Robotech art books first then getting the Perfect Memory book and then the Gold Book and it took me a long time to care what was Robotech and what was Macross, but as a fan I rabidly bought up what was available to me.

LOL! That's because the artist/writer is a Macross fan and a long time Macrossworld member and that's the only way he's ever going to get to release a Macross comic book in the US.

I bought the blank figmas and realized that they're the same scale as the CM's Macross figs. I thought about customizing some but decided that it was too expensive to use.

Can you imagine pushing a button on the card B/G/F ?!?!
-
OK... I'm a hypocrite after I complain about people wanting dioramas... but what about adding augmented reality cards to every toy? I mean the CG is already there, why not have Big West use them...
-
A lot of these requests seem less like upgrades and more like diorama parts. I like Grahams list and would love to add the heads that were drawn in the Macross The First Comic Book. Standing pilots are cool, though I got that covered already. TAMPO Print!!! Tampo Print!!! Tampo Print! Put everything even the numbers on there... everyone can customize the older releases but tampo these up with detailed cockpits and visors and they wont be able to refuse it.

Its really lame that they didn't include different heads on the blank 1S

Bit interested now that the 2 most boring people are gone, but Rob Marsall doing an adventure film is a joke. On the 55 million, I bet Johnny Depp turned it down enough times to where they hit a figure (and by they I mean his lawyers and agent and managers probably did an intervention) that he couldnt refuse. But at the price that these Jack Sparrow movies, and yes they are Jack Sparrow movies, $55 is probably a bargain. I'm not saying they're good, but they make a buttload of cash. First one was awesome...- 87 replies
