    Supah Happy Party Set!

Thanks Petarb... that's a lot coming from someone with his own stuff! The figures are starting to ship out, everyone with unpainted sets that didn't order set 4 first. Then all unpainted sets then I'll start painting them hopefully by next week.

    1/48 Fast Packs?

I guess Yamato considers that the DYRL colors since it's sold with the strike cannon, the TV FPs that came with the Hikaru 1J were lighter. I think someone in Yamato has their computer gamut setting set incorrectly.
  6. gracias amigos!

    1/48 Fast Packs?

and to think that it was a bargain when I was selling some for $100 a couple of weeks ago... no wonder people were snapping them up.
  8. I say let AgentGHQ take care of the con, on the off chance we get to attend it at Fantasy Island or maybe the SDF-1. Franks and beans! Franks and beans!

  10. Minmaed O'Connor...
  11. so after more sanding... I removed the arms to be able to get in between there. and I decided to start on the head sculpt also... sketching it out first to see how far I want to build up the putty before I start sculpting the face. server reimage won't allow me to post up pics so I'm hosting it temporarily off site which puts up small thumbnails.
  12. Layed on the foundation for the skirt part of the dress. I'm not sure if it's slitted on both sides, but I'm going to make it so we can see more leggage!
  13. Hey rob! I'm not talking about during sculpting but over all after you're done, sculpey becomes brittle and might crack in display. Especially if you're clumsy as me. But as far as heating it up while working it, I use a heat gun and slowly heat up the compound in layers. I make sure I keep the gun moving to keep from burning it. I use a aluminium base build up so that the center will heat up and bake when you heat it with the gun... it's quick and keeps you working without having to go to the oven or stove to prepare your surfaces. Another thing that turns me off from sculpey is that finer details like fingers break off easily...
  14. thanks! Sand sand sand! The idea here to sand the legs down pretty much close to completion because I'm going to lay the bottom half of the dress over them. It has to be prepared so we can position the folds and you don't want to have to go back and sand nooks that will be too hard to reach later.
  15. you just can't recolor the Qrau... it's totally different markings. Each part would have to be retooled.
  16. so the leg gets filled in and shave a little bit off... draw out the patterns to see where we're at amd where were going... next... lots of sanding... that green head is just to help in positioning... its just clay and will be replaced.

    1/100 Toynami Regult

That's why I don't buy vinyl toys but honestly, vinyls are not suppose to be articulated. And a toy that size that's suppose to be articulated would probably run $60 or is suppose to but given the short runs of Macross toys it would probably be more. So I think $25 is just right... I wouldn't say its a steal and a toy like this in retail should be less than $10. But for a Macross toy it's exactly where it's suppose to be. The 1/100 Toynami valks are probably decently priced but I don't like that sculpt at all so to me they're not worth it. Enough for me to think about getting the more expensive Hi-Metal version. I just don't see the Toynami ones as cheaper alternates.
  18. Hahaha! Break a leg Minmay! Take that!
  19. I was thinking about sculpting the whole thing in wax but then I didn't want to have to do a brush on mold... materials I don't have at home, so I'm covering the wax with a layer of putty You can use whatever putty you want, I'm using the same stuff that I used for my 1/60 figures, which is really meant for miniatures but I'll stick with it. People usually use milliput, kneadtite, plumbers putty or that crazy bondo stuff (nasty dangerous fumes). If you want something non-toxic, try something called apoxie. I like using wax because it's reusable. I no longer work with sculpey because I hate having to heat it and it usually cracks. People love it though. Geez, that left leg is so off... gotta fix that...
  20. ooops... you see how bad the build up is already... I forgot to mention you should sketch out a front view of your character so you can lay out your skeleton frame to scale... no pic of wire frame. forgot!
  21. kicking things off... this is a wax mock up of the figure. trying to get the pose right...
