Well, since you brought up Toynami, the vinyl regult was originally designed as a toy. But they realized that investing money into a mold wasn't going to be worth the return because... it just wasn't going to sell enough. So instead it was released as a vinyl for lower production costs. I'm assuming it's the same for the vehicle voltron. If the Lion Voltron would have gone gangbusters, they would have released a plastic toy of the vehicle counterpart right away. Instead they just came out with a vinyl version.

It was Eames's dream. Fischer was constantly the mark that filled (with his secret and projections) each of their dreams but the architect constructs the world in the assigned dreamer's dream. Remember, it was Yusuf that drank a glass of water before they fell asleep in the airplane, that's why it was raining. He's the one wearing the headphones so he can hear the kick signal. In Yusuf's dream, arthur gets the the headphones in the van... Yusuf is the only one awake to drive the van. In Arthur's Dream, Eames gets the headphones. Arthur stays awake to collect the crew. In Eames Dream... Saito and Ficher die to enter limbo. Cobb and Ariadne follow. Eames stays awake to detonate the charges. Was there headphones? What was the signal for the kick? Must go see again.

Don't get me started! I wonder how much more popular Votoms is, cuz the size of those Scopedogs are probably way beyond the regult. (it broke right away though) And I can understand how much more popular Patlabor is (actually I can't.... it's boring as heck) but that toy is total badass... the gun and the lights...

Most high impact resins can't be molded to color and the ones that can, only few type resins have a wide variety of colors you can choose, most have a limited color range. And the different types of high impact resins are only suitable for certain types of applications. Something that's used for gear prototyping can't be used for a car bumper or vice versa. The one thing they have in common is that they are really expensive. Also a lot of this stuff are not made for garage kits. Some of them still need an injection system and use some sort of epoxy molds versus the typical silicone rubber molds that a lot of scratch builders buy. Mold also burn out after a while, I'm not sure how fast and how many pulls you can take out of them. And then there's the special mold release material you have to use. I'm wondering if they're using standard resin for some parts of the regult that don't require movement, and then using the good stuff for the joints. And for the Zentran soldier, I'm guessing it's the same thing. For the T-rex Wonderfest version you have to buy the after market plastic ball joints, but since Yamato is releasing these, they can't just buy a bunch of those ball joints and put them in the box (unless they get a special deal going like they did with CMs for the Millia and Max Qrau figs.) But it seems like they are gonna go the in house route.

You can have it hosted somewhere else and then put a spoiler tag on the img tag.

Official MacrossWorld Convention 2010 Information Thread
EXO replied to KiriK's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
Hi Yuki. I recently picked up a fellow Macrossworld member that stayed in this hotel when he came up after San Diego Comicon and he said that the rate was decent enough. It's about half an hour from the UCLA campus including a 15 minute walk after the bus drops you off. Here's the address and the number for the hotel DAYS INN SANTA MONICA 3007 Santa Monica Boulevard Santa Monica, CA 90404 (310) 829-6333 and here's the bus route (included is the bus number to take): <iframe width="425" height="350" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" src="http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=3007+Santa+Monica+Boulevard+Santa+Monica,+CA+90404&daddr=UCLA+Ackerman+Loop,+Los+Angeles,+CA&hl=en&geocode=FT5cBwIdTEjw-CnbuZMgRLvCgDFfUUi-sRledA%3BFSzXBwIdIazw-CnXGU0EhrzCgDHtxNpDW8BWPg&mra=ls&dirflg=r&ttype=dep&date=08%2F01%2F10&time=11:18pm&noexp=0&noal=0&sort=&sll=34.052517,-118.457766&sspn=0.056392,0.132093&ie=UTF8&ll=34.052446,-118.458023&spn=0.03269,0.0338&start=0&output=embed"></iframe><br /><small><a href="http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=embed&saddr=3007+Santa+Monica+Boulevard+Santa+Monica,+CA+90404&daddr=UCLA+Ackerman+Loop,+Los+Angeles,+CA&hl=en&geocode=FT5cBwIdTEjw-CnbuZMgRLvCgDFfUUi-sRledA%3BFSzXBwIdIazw-CnXGU0EhrzCgDHtxNpDW8BWPg&mra=ls&dirflg=r&ttype=dep&date=08%2F01%2F10&time=11:18pm&noexp=0&noal=0&sort=&sll=34.052517,-118.457766&sspn=0.056392,0.132093&ie=UTF8&ll=34.052446,-118.458023&spn=0.03269,0.0338&start=0" style="color:#0000FF;text-align:left">View Larger Map</a></small> Give them a call and see how much you can reserve your rooms for this much ahead of time. If it's a agreeable then maybe the rest of the MW'ers from out of town may want to stay there too. Also, staying in Santa Monica, if you get there a couple of days ahead you can take a bus ride the opposite direction check out the Santa Monica Third Street Promenade, where there are plenty of places to eat and hang out or shop. -
Thanks Daisuke! Looks like everyone is happy with this one. I've had good responses already. This is my favorite one too! These shirts are available now. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=33581

As I've told people before in this forum, the biggest problem with resin kits are the joints and any articulation that it may have. That's why they are usually big blocks of non-articulated slabs of resin. Depending on the area you have to work with, I'd probably suggest drilling an even bigger hole and put a piece of styrene rod in there. Make sure the rod has a pre-existing hole or drill it to size yourself for it to recieve the peg on the other piece that connects. Resin is really viscuous stuff, that's why they sell plastic joints made by wave, yellow sub and kitobukiya for scratchbuilding.

That's the best part of the argument right there... once you put that little guy with the sunglasses, I am without retort. If I ever get put in jail outside of the US, I'm hiring someone that looks just like that because he's obviously an expert in international law. <-- says this guy

lol. that's a one way ticket to a court date with Tatsanuko...

I dont know how updated this is but here's a list of when toys are released http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=29393

MW numbers are so small. There's only about 30-50 people on at a time. And when you start a poll a 75% majority vote amounts to 37 people at the most.

http://www.iwatchstuff.com/2010/07/inception_score_also_read_the.php I did not know that..

I knew that the Qrau wasn't up to the standards of the 1/48 (at the time) but I bought it up because I knew we were never going to see another representation of it at that scale or any bigger. I think the sculpt is good but lacks in articulation, detail and a decent Millia figure. I told myself that I rather get this because if someone came out with a resin kit, it wouldnt be as sturdy, articulated and as affordable, though it was expensive for a toy that simple. I guess now, we'e seeing how lucky we were to get it in the first place and how expensive a resin kit can get. I do wish that Yamato would have gambled on the Regult instead of the Qrau though. I think they would have seen better results from it back then and sold multiple iterations like toynami is doing now with their vynil line of Battle pods.

This whole thread is full of euphemisms. I wish I had a Vaj to go against my messiah but the kitty won't play.
-
It's like Maxim the movie part 2... Coyote Ugly was part 1
-
The 1/2000 was originally designed as a toy so I can agree with the sentiment but this time the Regult was designed specifically to be a resin kit due to the overwhelming success of the Macross.

A good YF-19 will always be Yamato's holy grail. How many years have fans been clamoring?
-
The Qraus and the Destroids were I guess disappointments which is a sign that if it's not a valk then its not worth doing.
-
You're disagreeing with yourself in the same post. You think they have the capacity but they appear under to be a budgetary constraint? That's what decides a company's capacity... And then maybe Bandai can give us a Hi Metal version? I think I'm gonna skip over your posts, they're about as informative as your reviews.
-
I was never worried at all about fighter mode. Like I said, the art on the WF sign looked a lot like an autocad rendering. But it's still pretty awe inspiring seeing it as a prototype. Now I feel like modding it into a YF-19....
-
But the capacity to release it to the public doesn't make Joe Schmoe Yamato... it makes him Bandai.

Cool, only 2 more years til the FPs!
