This would have been a greater clusterfrakk if they had just reached the 70k. Because obviously that would have never been enough. 70k is still a lot of money and I think that they would have for sure been unable to deliver considering the inexperience they shown. Even without the stretch goals. It doesn't seem like that was a workable number to begin with, in hindsight. I'm sure other people have mentioned tis fact somewhere else. Just wondering...

Old pic but a good pic.
That's not a true Cannon Fodder because the bullets landed all around it.

Stupid peer pressure....pre-ordered!
Now you need the Super Messiah! DO IT! DO IT!

Studio Starforge is the same as Petarb... Petarb is pretty reliable but he's in Australia. Maybe you guys should give him a PM before ordering.

I understand that this is a pre-zombie apocalypse, character building series, but I've seen episodes of Friends that have more tension and interesting characters than this premiere. "Can you say snoozefest?" They visit the Church twice and absolutely nothing happens. That should have been a place that was infested. And why did they write it in twice with the same outcome? To make it an hour and a half show? It's a 15 minute short stretched to over an hour for no reason but to get advertising dollars and milk the franchise. Kinda blatant.

Ok this i will build and buy
Hopefully not in that order.

I love Kim Dickens in everything she does since Deadwood. But yeah, this must be made by the OG's second unit or something.
-
Well, just finished it. If the first episode if the original was a 10 then this was a -20.

40 minutes in... This show sucks!

whoah... it's like floating in the air.

Let me check. But I doubt it... the legs are too straight. But I have the model so I can rework it to fit. Will the Lancer pilots work in other 1/72 scale Hasegawa models?
-
out of curiosity, what are the differences with the Lancer previously available at SSM a couple of years ago?
like 007-vf1, i'd also like a few in 1/144
As the designer, I can answer that question. There's more added detail and the body lines is a lot closer to the lineart. And of course there's the inclusion of the pilot. The scale was also ttaken from Sketchley's translation of the specs found in the Macross Chronicles. The radar "wing" is also thickened so it won't droop. I think that other kit had that problem. If you look at tthat smaller cylinder behind the cockpit, all the other kits omit the fact that the main body goes around that. But according to the line art and some screen shots, that's the way it's suppose to be.
lineart from Mr. March's site Macross Mecha Manual

PM me about the 1/144. Thanks!

It's ok, loop... we've put models here before that were meant to be displayed with the toys. E.g. Yamato Fan Racer and 1/2000 Macross.

Same here. We've had the same discussions before in the same line whether or not a valk would have rivets but at the same time you can't help but love the extra detail. I myself love to see battleworn and rusted up valks or enemy mechs.Just for the record, I am by no means degrading anyone's builds where they have dirtied up their vehicles, alien or not, its just an interesting topic to discuss the realities of such weathering and whether it really would be relevant to an alien vehicle.
When you look at the tv version of the zentran mechs though, their very bare bones. The regult pilot uses his hands and feet to point the cannons. It's very simple but elegant. You really do get a sense that most of the engineering went into the soldiers and how they're genetically"conditioned" to use those machines.
-
Yup... I agree on both accounts. While I enjoy looking at these artists's weathering skills, I don't necessarily think that these beings would use the same exact materials. Also, considering the scale, if it did rust, the size of the degradation wouldn't be as prominent as it would be on a tank, especially if it's still in use.

sorry 007-vf1... can't find it, stupid facebook search. I know I had that on my drive, but that one crashed last year. Lost all kinds of good stuff.
-
I miss these weathered valks! :sniff:
-
I might have that posted on macrossworld facebook... let me look.

I think they went for about 75 retail in the US. You could have found them for about 60 arojnd the time, so 100 isn't much of a mark up for an out of print toy. There were also thre bigger suit only figures that went for 50 bucks each. I don't know how much those are now.

The all white phase
Is that a dating preference, cuz it's racist!
OOOH, nice pics!
The Walking Dead
in Anime or Science Fiction

They should have cut out the first episode and jumped to the second one. It's more of what I expected on the low end of the spectrum. It still can't compete with the first ep. of the OG series but I didn't expect it to.
I do think that the excuse that just because it's not in the same starting point as the original series, that we should forgive it for any such quality is kinda lame. But then the uneveness of the Walking Dead show should tell us ahead of time that it can be good or awful at any given time. But I still stand behind the fact that that first episode was pure crap.
The thing that I don't get is the fact that they just killed off the only 3 speaking parts that were African American within the first 2 episodes... technically I guess. The WD series has always made their black characters so expendable. It's like a revolving door.
