  1. Yeah, that's definitely not just any gunk like the low viz. If anyone has ever tried stripping paint off a Yamato, it's a huge pain in the neck. They use the best paint because of the transforming parts. That sucks. It's too bad they changed the stands from the acrylic with black tips. Those things were just awesome. Wish I had a few more of those around.
  2. I don't have any of the new stands just the old acrylic ones, but that yucky gunky stuff on the low viz is gonna do that on a pencil eraser. That stuff will get all over your fingers if you hold it for more than 20 minutes. That's why I took it off my Low Viz right away. I'm not sure about the clear coat thing though and I'm not saying that the stands are 100% safe and doesn't react with certain paint. Maybe the clear plastic is absorbing heat and transferring it to the toys, kinda like light travels thru fiber optics.
  3. Actually I sent them pics of vf1s's 1/2000 custom a while back, before kyekye did his.
  4. At least we can look forward to Playarts Lara Croft figures then.
  5. Sorry but if we went around and reduced every oversized pic on the forums, all the mods would go a little bit more nuts than we already are... http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=33341&pid=912248&st=0entry912248
  6. Lol. We don't have a fanfic forum. There's a website dedicated to Macross fanfic. It's called robotech.com.
  7. I love them so much I'm making shirts for me and other fans. plug!
  8. Yeah... you'll probably get you wish there http://www.starpulse.com/news/index.php/2008/04/10/daniel_craig_urges_bosses_to_turn_james_
  9. If it doesn't come with the bottle then it might be a Sideshow Exclusive. Sideshow imports some hot Toys stuff and they sometimes have an exclusive version that comes with an extra accessory. Like Superman will come with the green kryptonite chain from the first movie only from Sideshow (or you can get it from an HK Ebay auction). You should call BBTS and ask before you order. If they don't return your call, try cornerstore comics. Google their site.
  10. Don't worry. If it looks half as good I'm sure it'll be great. It just has to be 100% done. Good luck man!
  11. The achievement will be the boatload of cash that Figma will get on a figure with international appeal as oppose to an anime audience market. If this does well for Figma. Expect to see more movie licenses. This was probably "inspired" by Revoltech' Aliens and other movie license success.
  12. Seems like all the budget went to the toy, and none to the box art...
  13. Don't get me started...
  14. You're paying for the license, the head and body parts sculpt, permissions for the likeness, and the costumes and accessories. I hear people say bad things about Hot Toys pre-movie figs. But now I hear people complaining about how they hardly make military figures anymore. If you compare them to Hasbro's GI Joe line, you're talking about an in house license with no likenesses to anyone in a massed produced setting. But how much are the Sideshow GI Joe figures? They're about $120 to begin with. I'm no Hot Toys expert either but the first movie license they had was Aliens I think and they did't pay for likeness on those figures. Those came out at $80 a pop with Hicks. He went up for about 1k in a year and settled at around $500 because they don't rerelease figures at Hot Toys. it wasn't until Enterbay started releasing their Bruce lee and 24 action figures with accurate sculpts that they started to keep up with the likenesses. But Hot Toys doesn't just make headsculpts. I bought my 1/6 scale Power Loader for $225 and it came with a figure. ED-209 was $150. Those toys are incredibly big and pretty cheap at that size. The Power loader would probably retail at $375 in todays economy. They also make the Nolan Bat Tumbler and the Batpod. The tumbler is a ballsy release if you consider how Yamato thinks that the SDF-1 or Toynami considers the Beta fighter as big toys. I'm not saying that they're flawless. I hear the DX Batman was pretty faulty. All I'm saying is that they're making some specialized toys for "decent prices". I mean they made video game figures that look just like the characters. It's funny but they are just action figures. That's exactly what they are. Hell, I even insisted that they be called that when my ex asked why I have so many dolls. They're action figures!!! lol... When Eric Foreman said it on the 70s Show it was extra funny for me. EDIT: BTW, this is what you would be paying pre Hot Toys and Enterbay days for likeness and ultra detailed costumes http://www.e-ureka.com/shop/index.html That's on release. Afterwards it's more.
  15. Cool! They went to Compton College??? Is that like a Dirty Sanchez or a Cleveland Steamer?
  16. Awesome! Good to hear.
  17. lol. I'm not making fun, because I'd do it too. But I had to sell most of mine. I still have my Power Loader and Robocop though... Damn ED-209 got away. Did you guys see how cute one of the sculptors is? http://www.afhub.com/an-interview-with-hot-toys-yulli/
  18. I don't know about "looking like this does". There's a huge gap between this and the ballroom scene in Beauty & the Beast. I can admit the fact that it's made for kids but I'd be insulted if anyone said these were made for my kids. Like m1 said, the first thing I thought of were cheap commercials that can't afford real animators. For some reason I was thinking cereal commercials. But I also read an interview with a producer where he said he was proud of a product that both fans of the original and their kids can watch together.
  19. It's funny that as kid I just wanted a resemblance of the character or actor. But now they have gotten so good that people are starting to nitpick every little bit. Yes they are pricey, at the demands of their fans for accuracy, I'm surprised they don't cost $600. These are underpriced for what they are. There's no precedence for something like these things for under $200. I think even the Enterbay stuff were above that mark at the time Hot toys started making movie figures. Not sure. But the Indy and Jack figures would normally cost a collector way above $500. At the same time I find people that collect Hot Toys a little bit insane, unless they are filthy rich.
  20. That Chris Reeve Superman is like the ultimate of all Superman Toys. There's a stand that comes with it (I think comes with it). It's a piece of the fortress of Solitude. It's so awesome.
  21. are your pieces already broken? Because if it's not yet there you can sand the metal pin or replace it. It's basically that pin thats causing the problems Should cost less than shipping IF you ever get a hold of someone that will get a hold of Yamato for you. Also Have you tried where you bought it from? Just tryong to help.
