I'm not assuming that it's a good thing. I meant it as a compliment to the old school animators that put in work that animators wouldn't today unless it's CG. You're trying to twist the words in my post by grouping it with bad CG which we are all aware exists. It's the same compliment I would give to the animators of DYRL and Flashback 2012, the feat that they accomplished would be insurmountable by today's standards without the help of CG. I'll try to spell everything out for you next time.

Was reading about this yesterday and the same thought crossed my mind. But the fact that they used existing features was kinda disappointing. I'd like to see something built from scratch that can truly fool people. Kinda like that Al Pacino movie.

For some reason I had the urge to go thru this thread again. Can't wait for updates.

The Transformers 3 Thread--A Michael Bay Thread
EXO replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Transformers is an incredible franchise. It's probably the only one that started off as one of the 30 minute commercial cartoon craze in the 80s that constantly produced shows and kept selling new lines of toys up to now that spawned a really successful movie franchise. A movie getting made doesn't equal instant success. G.I Joe might be second but it's no where near what TF is. And there's a plethora of other failed properties that had toys, cartoons video games that were made into movies that hasn't achieved what TF has. OK, maybe failed is a strong word but none as successful as TF. And I'm not a big fan. I don't think the movies are good and the cartoons are barely re watchable to me. Gotta respect the machine that it is though. I laugh when I hear Shia Lebouf say that Michael Bay is responsible for what Transformers today. -

apparently washing cars. I'm not against any girl speaking up for herself either. A poor choice of words, yes. But who cares... she's in movies now. And c'mon... who the hell says Stalin? -

If it's not canon then I doubt they'll make it in that color. I'm just glad they're redoing the VF-25s because I wanted that Messiah armor Ozma forever. Too bad about Alto dying at the end of the second movie though... -
lol. that kid had problems...

It was me. I've actually started the process but I'm still researching materials and cost. (and I promised that I won't introduce new projects until I deliver on some long over due customs and projects). The Trex soldier wont fit in the Regult.

HLJ has had these since the beginning of their run. They put together a monthly group order for overseas customers and orders it from Yamato. The great thing about it is that the customer doesn't pay Japanese sales taxes on top of the shipping. I think that the outlook of having a 1/60 mass produced version was never good in the first place. The metal molds would have been way too costly.
-
That's true. I'm also glad they gave it a shot anyway.
-
*Cracks pencilling fingers* Alright... where did they leave off? Ugh! Bad news.
-
1:60? Man... I knew there was a reason I didn't pick up the ugly chunky version 1's. I wish they would release the vf-171 first.

Yamato 1/60 VF-17 Nightmare Diamond Force
EXO replied to charger69's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Thank you! That's exactly what I was thinking. I don't get why they would even consider a toy in 1/60 scale without retractable landing gears. That's almost like doing away with hands in place of those tiny robot arms in the VF-1S that Roy used to fix the VF-1D. -
I did... Unfortunately I forgot... I'm trying to think what it was! DAMN!!! It's killing me now.

Any animation can be brought up to bluray standards, it just depends on budget. The restored Cinderella edition looked so incredible and clean that some parts look like they were done with CG. That's Disney money on one of their most important properties I'm talking about though. Big West money on DYRL might not be on the same level of production.

That's my favorite scene and he's my favorite character/actor in the whole show. I actually asked if that was gonna come back to bite him and then they made him the you know what of the you know who... lol. Catelyn Stark is a pretty strong character. There's no shortage of intrigue and strategy, I suppose that's why it is called a game in the title. But I'm not a big fan of even bigger scale events happening off screen. Sometimes disappointment outweighs the good for me... (Ahem! Super8!) My other favorite scene is when the Khalisi stands up at the end... OH MAMA!!!

Yamato 1/60 VF-17 Nightmare Diamond Force
EXO replied to charger69's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I'm sure you'll get it soon. Yamato is pumping out this stuff at a breakneck speed. I haven't even gotten my VF-22 M&M yet! I can't believe the Firevalk is out. Seems like last month when they posted the autocad of it. -
You call that rock and roll?

I accidentally got tix for the 3D version of Kung Fu Panda 2 and it was pretty good 3D. I still think it's distracting though. I kept looking around to see what was popping out and what made it pop out. I don't usually see the 3D in movies but for some reason that one really worked for me as far as the gimmick went. Story-wise I can do with out. I think 3D should be made specially for first person gaming where you're supposed to be in the middle of the action.

That's kinda disappointing to hear. I reserved my judgment of the show because it seemed like they were building towards something, but if it's all build up and no pay offs, I'll probably check out. So far they've killed off or put strong characters that I thought would be badass in action in some sort of confinement, not just captured but in a place where there's really nothing happening. Major arcs of the story is mostly played off screen, even though I've heard that the book is gory. I understand the point of holding back in the beginning but I feel like I'm asking myself "why didn't they show that?"
