Prometheus - on Blu-Ray and DVD Oct. 9, 2012

I'm not confused, I follow what you are saying and what RS is saying, I just think he's ignoring a couple things with that story even within this movieverse. Not to mention that the Engineer could have kicked everyones' ass in Jerusalem. And I doubt they made the cross in XXXXXXXXL. And C'mon... have you seen the locks on our boy Jesus' head? I mean he's got the abs of an alien engineer but he's got the mane of an earthbound carpenter. -

I can't argue the chances of the ship landing where the 2 ladies stood (it's just another far fetched scene that required suspension of disbelief in movies, much like how she ran around after the self administered C-Section is the same as a hero cop getting shot but still manages to fight a bad guy.) But the fact that the engineer for some reason went after Elizabeth on personal vendetta and that Elizabeth knew that the ship was headed for earth was kinda puzzling. It's like they forgot to edit really important scenes in. This type of stuff happened all the way thru the movie. These aren't mysteries in the script that demanded further conversation, they just weird inconsistencies and plot holes that were expected to be looked over for the sake of the next shiny reveal. -

ROFL!This one got me... "All will be revealed in James Cameron's PROMETHEUSES." -
would be awesome! I mean, you don't even need ghosts for that movie. It'll be all about how the new recruits cope with the old farts trying to relive their glory days of saving NYC from the supernatural. There has to be a scene where Owen Wilson decides to say, "frakk this crap!" and tries to leave and Jason convinces him to stay by making him wear the suit and Bill Murray lets them cross the streams while wasted. All's well again until Gwyneth Paltrow, Venkman and Dana's lovechild decides to stay in the firehouse trying to reconnect with her father and the two compete for her affection. Who needs ghosts?

Man I stopped reading this thread a while back and I stopped reading, watching or hearing anything about so I can get a full personal experience when I do see it. My excitement was at full force by the time I sat down. I agree here. First of all, the movie is Freakin Gorgeous! Everything in frame is just perfect. But I feel like the writing is more confused than the audience was about this being a direct prequel or not. Either that or they waste too much time teasing the audience with the "Oh this is it!" moment that ties it with the first movie and then decide to, not change it, they tack on unnecessary moments that make people believe that they were wrong to believe it. But those moments added don't make any sense at all. For example: MAJOR SPOILER: The 3D was great but again, I don't like it... the colors get muted and when there is a great 3D sequence, it pulls you out of the story because you're too busy thinking how cool the 3D is. But Ridley Scott really used it in a way I've never seen before. The dream sequence with the digital aura was amazing and the space map, which seemed pretty close to the Iron Man Exhibition Park sequence, was just glorious. No spoilers here... you just have to see it if you like seeing movies in 3D. -
Maybe Transformers (cartoons) isn't your cup of tea. But they've always maintained the proportional transformations from vehicle or animal into human robots, albeit with small help of anime magic. But the movies made threw that out the window with nonsensical millions of parts just moving around to get a robot with hips and abs (so they can be sexy???) That American Old School Hollywood ego goes across the board. It goes into casting, storytelling, and even in music, etc. Where they want to take a pure foreign material that someone else made a hit movie of but are too afraid to take it as a whole because people might get "confused" by it. You can't tell a "ninja/samurai" story or maybe even a "Hindu" spiritual journey without your obligatory fish out of water western character to see the story through his/her eyes. It's not like I, growing up in California can ever understand a movie like "City of God" with Portuguese subtitles. It's takes someone crazy like Mel Gibson to do Apocalypto. it's not a great story but I thought it was pretty ballsy to do it like he did and would love to see more movies like that. As pretty as Iron Giant was, it was still in context to the old Buck Rogers/Flash Gordon school of design, but updated really nicely.

Yeah. A lot of the good designs that I've seen in the new stuff coming out next summer are from designers from europe. it's weird that even though A lot of this type of scifi are anime inspired, they refuse the design concepts. It's like they're still making Lost In Space or Buck Rogers. Transformers is a good example. Years and years of great design tradition out the window. Havent really seen anything from this movie past that suit. But I loved the look from a lot of Guillermo Del Toro movies. Hopefully we'll get to see some more stuff soon.

"I'm like a backlash against Kawamori-san and Mikimoto-san"
EXO replied to SCOOPUDA!'s topic in Movies and TV Series
It's funny because his way of backlashing is to not do anything at all to the designs. I really like his sensibility. There really is no need for the change, their designs are so timeless. It's a god thing they chose someone with restraint. I wish I was going to Otakon. I screwed it up. -
The quirky character episodes are good stand alones, but there's just way too many of them in one season. BTW, speaking of anime influences, Arcee from TF:PRime is heavily influenced by Priss Hardsuit from BGC.

I think that's a great word for what I mean when I say remake SDF... I don't want a remake! I just want it to be given a facelift... ok, maybe we need a better word. But I do think that it needs something to make it stand up in the HD world. If it did that, I would have set aside a bunch of things to buy this set, extras and all.

I'm fine with almost everyone's role for the moment, except I agree with the writer and bring back Mikimoto as the character designer. Yokko Kanno's music is awesome though, I really enjoyed Frontier's music. Did she do BGM to or just the songs? The BGM on Frontier had an epic feel.

i DO want to see it going because I want to see the adventure play thru... I'm just saying I'm not surprised if it doesn't come back. They really need to tighten up the story a lot.

That's not a bad looking armor. I just finished up another production with futuristic armors and weapons and I hated the way they looked. I hate it when big movies use sports gear to pass them off as space armor... fortunately I got to work on 2 other productions where the designers rocked. Can't say which ones but one, but one of them had stunning designs... musta had the phasers set that way.

MacrossWorld Contest: May'n Concert Tickets for California Members
EXO replied to EXO's topic in Movies and TV Series
Yeah. It's a lot for a small venue, but it takes a lot more for a performer with a small niche fandom to come from a foreign country than it does for a local band to drive over to the sunset strip. If you're up for it, come down and support May'n and meet up with the MW crew. -
haha. if they would have put the camera in front of the green legioss behind the red, you would have gotten your wish.
