  1. That's a good question. That's not really a choice. After 25 pulls, the mold is pretty much burnt out and you start all over. Clean the masters and redo the mold. You can try and push it and try to get 28 pulls or something but the quality will have degraded. The recaster, at over 20 pulls is taking chances of operating at a loss. If the mold burns out before the 25 then they have to make a new mold to fill the order, if they need to make that many sets. Depending on how many orders you have over 25, it might be worth pouring that extra pour. But if you have a substantial amount more, then you might as well make the new mold, so you don't waste resin. Hope that answers your question It's not really worth it again, that's why most small items come in sets. The less material, the harder it is to measure the liquids per volume. The material is far more forgivable if you have to pour a cup each if your a few drops off. The less material then each drop starts to matter as to whether or not the material will fully cure. Also you have to think about the time people put into these things. Most artist charge per time more than material. Is it worth for the recaster to pour one or two spots on a mold, wait for it to cure and then pour the same spots again? Basically its the same amount of action for half the pay. I know it works, I've tested it thoroughly and I have a lot of left hands made that I checked to make sure it's printable and the quality is good. Unfortunately, as soon as I was done, Shapeways changed their policies and the quality dropped. The last sample I got was horrible and the other items people bought weren't like the ones I tested. I'm going to wait for what new material they might add and see if they're good enough, but as of now I think I'm ready to deal with their inconsistencies. Otherwise I would have kept these items in my store and I wouldn't be offering these recasts that I've put up recently.
  2. Not too late, it's only been 3 days. Got you down!
  3. If we can get the whole run done, which is 25 sets we can go $15. But if we can get at least 15 sets and if people still want it it'll be $20. I'm actually gonna put myself down for 5 sets...
  4. OK... After my sad foray into trying to make 1/48 articulated hands. I know a lot of people were waiting to replace their chicken hands. While looking thru my parts that I need to clean up for recasting. I found the masters for Etern'l D's custom hands he used to sell that he gave to me. I called him to see if I can offer these and he gave me the green light. I'm just wondering if there's enough people that may want these. I know Old Man wanted some a while back.
  5. Thanks guys! I wish I would have offered to build that for you. I'm dying to make one. But I didn't have time or the money to take up the project. I got my job the week later... awww... But it went to the right person! Ca't wait to see your projects.
  6. No, its not too late. We haven't even started production yet. I'll add you to the list.
  7. You arrogant ass! You've killed us! still on the workbench, awaiting for a few more adjustments.
  8. Basically, we need to perfect each technique before moving on the the next big thing. It's small baby steps before the next jump. Also the funding that the space missions have have basically dwindled. Now it'll be up to private enterprises to get items and astronauts into space. I'm sure they would love to get rovers into those bodies someday. But remember also that while rovers are on Mars, there's still probes that are sent to study the outer planets. It's interesting because a lot of the speakers on that panel are old guys, but they talked about how they were inspired as kids when the Apollo and Gemini missions were going on. As much as we all would love to see them land a craft on the giant gas planet's moons, even these guy probably won't live to see it happen.
  9. It's happening! I have to clean up the parts from the last get go and then deliver them to the recaster. Then I'll contact people for payments as their sets are being made. I've quoted the people that asked $20 extra for painting the saddle bags (each set). That's sanded and all bubbles and pinholes filled, primed, painted green with black symbols and clear coated for $20. Thanks!
  10. Hi everyone, looks like these projects are a go. I'll prep and then deliver the masters to the recaster and as soon as the molds are done I'll be contacting people for payments. I don't have any pilots to add to the set, sorry. wanted to give a freebie since the price went up a little, but I guess they all got sold including the masters.
  11. So awesome right? I've been keeping an eye on it too and I have the DVR set to record the special tomorrow.
  12. Hi... Bazookas are also back in production. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=33779&pid=988504&st=70entry988504
  13. New Sandman out next year!!! woohoo!!! I hope to. Now I have a reason to really do it so I can send that guy his set. Also I sold my set to Bigkid... bastid, offered good money. I thought, Oh well, I'm gonna make better ones. I get a lot of PMs for them. In fact Egan Loo asked me last week about them. lol.BTW, we have this thread now. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=33610
  14. I hang out with Phatslappy, but he sold his whole collection. Of course Graham is here. Shawn I sometimes email. David Hingtgen, is still here. Mechamaniac. Solscud and KidKorrupt. BobePatt I see outside of the forums... lol, they're all at TFW2005, the traitors! lol. You know I found this place thru Valkyrie Dreamflight. The Ostrich was my holy grail. I visited alt.fan once and a while but I never posted. I was at SDCC and one of the McFarlane guys was demonstrating resin and I was full of ideas that I can make my own accessories for my 1/55. I came back and googled, no.. I netscaped it... lol. Lo and behold there was already people doing it. 2 years ago I was doing a project where I was ridiculously late. I owed a ton of people their items and not one person complained. It was a whole tring of bad luck. First it wouldn't stop raining and the humidity wouldn't let the resin cure, stupid me kept trying until I got sick from the material. I just made sure I sent out updates and the wonderful people of MW were patient. I mean I didn't get one bad PM from anyone. Eventually with the help of another old skool MW'er, Jasonc, who wanted to learn to recast, I was able to get the stuff out. MW members are the best. I did get an PM a few months back, one member asking where his 1/60 figures were. That was the project before the one that went awry. All those went out fine. We agreed that it was prolly lost in transit. He said it as OK that he should have asked earlier, but I resolve to make it up to him once I redo those figs digitally.
  15. Sorry, someone asked the same thing with the saddle bags. I'm not recasting them anymore myself because of allergies to the liquid resin. That's why they were delayed a year last time. Otherwise I would take the time to color match.
  16. Sorry, I'm not recasting them anymore myself... allergic reaction to liquid form of resin... other wise it would be color matched like before. If you want I can prep and paint them for you before I send it out for extra. PM me if interested.
  17. Cobywan. Now that is a name I haven't heard in a long time.
  18. If you have the DYRL BD then you can expect the same type of remastering. Grainy with sharp lines on some scenes. Some scenes blurs a bit (not the censoring type) and some are great. There's some screen caps posted on the facebook page. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.348853508531364.81950.334036913346357&type=3
  19. haha, I have friends that say that 1:6 scale passes the "doll collecting" event horizon. For me 1/4th scale is just to big to consider as toys. I like some of the quarter scale mixed media statues but I don't collect statues. But to each their own, I guess.
  20. here you go; http://www.macross2.net/m3/macrossf/macrossf-index.html
  21. These will be white resin.
  22. I would like to have seen Montana
  23. I'm making a list now. these will be made mid September if the project is a go.
  24. i don't get why there's 2 1/4th scale figure licenses. Are they from different movies? Sorry if it's been addressed. Are these articulated also?
