  1. My recaster just ran out the door as you posted. The ships will be done in three colors as previously suggested. For the top part of the Daeadalus and Prometheus, I'm thinking of a gray close to the one on the toy but with a more bluish hue to it. I thought about matching the gray but that would make the Daedalus look weird. The Prometheus was gray in the DYRL video game and you never see it intact in the movie.
  2. The Oberths won't dock with the SDF1... they're about half the size of the carrier ships and not set up to connect. I know the carriers weren't either but I guess it was easy to convert them. From the lineart though, there's no way to connect or have the Oberths look good on the arms of the SDF1. I'll probably make another stand for those. The UN Spacy made over a hundred of Oberths though and I think they actually named 5 of them. BSG's Colony 1 actually reminds me of the Oberth. Both are nicely styled smaller fleet ships. I'm glad someone's excited like I am about these. The Prometheus is coming in next week. But from building the Daedalus I've already noticed that I need to adjust some parts for it so I need to send for some small parts ASAP. I'll put them up for sale once I've tested, sanded and primed them for casting. And that should fund the Daedalus and i'll send that off as soon as I can... that's the plan so far. Hopefully they'll both be out before the end of the year. Here's a view of the stands with smaller footprint as suggested by charger.
  3. The first thought was to do cradle/dock type stands, but the more I thought about it the more I figured I needed to make a universal stand for all the ships to keep printing costs down and the molds get maxed out.
  4. how's this? lol...
  5. yeah... very possible... Also would probably make it stronger because the resin would probably warp with it splayed like that. thanks.
  6. Thanks man... that's a real great compliment coming from someone that makes amazing stuff. I'm wondering if this would be overkill. A stand for the ship that's not currently connected to the toy.
  7. teehee. It would have been cool if they gave the robot collector the voight-kemp test... "Describe in single words, only the good things that come in to your mind about... your mother." "I'll tell you about my mother!" And then he start shooting the psychiatrist with the fake gun props on his wall. PEW PEW PEW!!!
  8. Finally saw this... yeah it wasn't that great. The story was really generic. I know there's a chance that they'll flesh it out more later but this on it's own looks like another "string you along" series. And the previous comments are right but you're still kinda jarred by how neat things are. The main girl's leather jacket looks like it just got cleaned, maybe someone found it at an abandoned department store, in that case everyone is looting almost on a daily basis. And everyone is so well groomed. The one thing I noticed was that when the guy hit the random bad guy with rebar, the rebar was a bare rubber prop. They didn't even bother painting it to age. The whole thing was disturbingly cheap looking even though they spent a lot of money on the CG backgrounds.
  9. Thanks! It does. Wow, Sean, Great minds think alike... I want to do that. I even thought about etched parts... that will come after though. I might just post the jpgs for people to download. Good eye. Let's just say I did't go thru all this trouble for it to be hidden. Hello. I thought of that too. These are designed for the newer toy and the old Matchbox wouldn't be able to hold them up at all. I've hollowed out the parts as best I can to save on printing and making sure it's light enough. These things are almost 7 inches long! They stick way pass the boosters on the SDF-1 in cruiser mode!!! To connect, there are magnets built into the toy. When the Prometheus comes I'll be able to test it out. Do it Kicker! do it!!! DO IT!!! Where's my Starsky and Hutch gif?
  10. Pretty much done with the design part. DAEDALUS ATTACK!!!
  11. You'd have to be a big Botcon attender to pay that much. It depends on what your collection consist of. If you've been collecting Botcon Exclusives then you might really want that one. The funny thing to me is that these guys never heard of climate controlled storage. Notice their wives don't ask them to sell their collections, but they just don't want that crap all over the place. The ones that have to sell the ones that are broke and can't pay their own bills. But the ones with girlfriends don't seem to have that problem.
  12. Can't find the old thread so I'll just post this here. Some people requested that I put the Mospeada figures back on Shapeways. So here they are. http://www.shapeways...hops/exodigital The default material is Frosted Ultra Detail. Yes they are expensive but you won't get the detail otherwise. It's just how these things cost. I actually priced these with other 3D printers and each figure cost about the same as the whole set so Shapeways prices are still the best when it comes to 3D print. Just added this Inbit only set.
  13. All reality shows are fake. I should know I've worked on a bunch of them. On this one show, there was a rich guy that was suppose to give some money to some kid with cancer that he found by chance by seeing a donation can in some random market. The can was a prop I made and the supermarket was some place they drove him to. And if you happen to watch Kitchen Nightmares with that Ramsay dude, almost none of the restaurants he helped survive. These guys are in and out of there in a week. There's no way they can change anybody's lives. And the episode with the Transfomer guy... everybody here knows that you don't buy Transformers in the Downtown Toy District, all they sell there are bootlegs and cheap toys you find in 99cent and drug stores. For Transformers you go to Frank and Sons or Marshalls or Ross. The place they were in must have been staged, because I've never seen a display that neat and full of TF in Downtown.

  15. I don't know if it's good news or bad news. There's a lot on that link I would love to buy... especially that Tatiana Wisla Vanship from Last Exile.
  16. I think he remembers that from his Mohican days.
  17. Valk009's kit will be top quality.
  18. I remember the 1/4000 Yellow Sub kit. There was a guy who was called Apollo Leader (Alpha 1?) that sent his built kit to me to display at MWCon... that was like 10 years ago. The model didn't survive the trip that well. If I had time I would have fixed it to display properly. But I remember that that was a nicely detailed kit and he had painted it really well.
  19. Don't buy from MiM.
  20. I'd love to be there for that...
  21. Awesome, you get to enjoy DYRL unblurred and edited.
  22. There's definitely a lot of difference to the ARMDs. Redesigned as much as the Macross themselves. I wonder what the DYRL version of the Daedalus would have looked like. From the video game it looks like the Prometheus was pretty much the same. It's amazing though how much more detailed the lineart for the Daedalus is compared to the Prometheus. I'm almost afraid that the 2 ships won't match.
  23. I guess so. I was considering making a 1/5000 version if I do the prometheus and daedalus in 1/5000.
