  1. I'm new at collecting myself (started less then a year ago) I stopped all thinking about the 1/48's with the 1-J as well (What is it with the 1-J?), so the M+M don't exactly thrill me. But now I find myself going back and grabbing Bandai's, a few 1/60 and such, so it never seems to end. I am jumping on everything plus and 7 right now...

It just seems to change, not die...

Am I gonna be alright?

  2. :D Wow. You guys are great. I display my stuff (most anyway) and get some harsh comments. You know, like:

" <_< when are you going to grow up?"

" why do you have TOYS?!?!"

" that plane has legs."

    and such....

Bah! I do things well enough so, in my opinion, the only difference between me and people who have "grown up" is that they are boring, really...

"Man, i sure wish i sat around and decayed all day." "makes me so 'mature' to pretend to be something I'm not."

As far as i'm concerned, my collection kinda "protects" from people like that... :)

when people do come over, she does say, can you please hide some of your weapons. but never my valks!

I get that sometimes too! :p

  3. Sorry to intrude, but can I ask a couple of questions?

    1. has anyone ever ordered from here? Can they say it's legit. Looks to be, but I'm cautious online...

 2.Where could I find a VF-17D? (besides Ebay) and what would be a fair price?

I just like it a lot, I think the 17S's head is...kinda fugly

  4. I was suprised at the durablilty of this toy. I got re-introduced to the world of macross toys back in August, and saw all of this cool stuff going on. I had to have a 1/48, and got 2. Before I recieved I started coming here for info, and started hearing all these "broken -Yamato part-" threads and was then concerned. No worries, though, They both held up better than i had heard.

I would've like to vote that I consider the 1/48's a toy becaues of this, but when you re-posted the poll, it had "10 year old" on it. I had to null vote. I realize all kids are diffrent, but even my two Bandais, rock solid as they are, would be utterly desroyed by my irresponsible 12 year old brother. Letting him at a 1/48? No way.

 I have nightmares of waking up and finding him here, crashing my Valks into each-other..

  5. I dished out the cash for the stickers, and found them (aside from having to cut them) great. Scissors work very well for a curve verses say, a straight blade.

But here's my problem. I love Macross and all, but I can't seem to place all the stickers. I can place most from memory and from pics I find, but some of the alpha-numeric ones give me trouble. I didn't seem to find much help in the Yamato box. Are there any placement guides or something? I got the Armor stickes as well as the aircraft ones. I'd rather look like an idiot now asking for help than look like one later with misplaced labels

EDIT> Sorry, I went through my guide and found lables on the parts list in the front of the manual...

    -Musta missed that...

  6. My 1S reissue head is perfect. (Quality of my 1S reissue is 10x better than my new 1J btw.)

Really? What's wrong with your VF-1J? I bought one without the FP and its near perfect. There's a small nick in the head visor (not much to complain about really).

And underneath the rim(behind the cockpit/above the heat shield) of the chest plate, part of the plastic is chipped. Not a big deal really since you can only see it when its being transformed.

Other than those 2 small nit picks, my VF-1J is good. Tight joints etc.

    - 1J chestplate and back plate gap in fighter/gerwalk mod (slight though)

    - the air break wont stay in position in battroid

    - gap near air intakes/chest plate in gerwalk/fighter

    - legs want to leave the toy in gerwalk. (the 1S is perfect here)

    - The backpack latch plate isn't firmly positionned. it creates a gap.

    - gun pods want sto leave the arm in every configuration.

    - I have to press real hard to have the backpack in position in battroid config. (I dread to break the small hinge - u know? - and it is folding the backplate, so much pressure there... hum...)

all those problem are not found in the 1S reissue or greatly reduced.

 Oddly enough, thoes are my problems with my VF-1S reissue and are all but non existant in my 1J. Sad because I like my 1S much more...

  7. I am still waiting for my first yammie to arrive, waiting sucks........

 Thoes things are awesome! I just got my first two (super VF-1J, VF-1S reissue) five days ago! I had no trouble transforming them the first time (i wasn't forceful) and the thing is much more durable that i had been hearing with all these

    "Broken -place part name here-"

posts! I can see that the backpack hinge might be subject to breaking, but awareness is the first step of prevention...

    also:

    head lasers

    air brake

    heatshield

all look like they could do with some caution...

  8. Heh, this is only the umpteenth time that this type of poll has been done in the history of MW.

As always, my view is the same. Asking people if they 'play' with toys is too vague a question. First you should clarify what is the meaning of play. Obviously, play means diferent things to different people, especially of different age groups.

As for myself, most of the time my toys are in their display cabinet, but 4 or 5 times a week I do like to take one or two toys out and transform them, several times usually while watching TV. Sometimes I just like to hold them without transforming them.

Do I consider this play? In a word no. However, this poll seems to assume that transfoming a toy = play.

 Well, I didn't have the fortune of being here for Macrossworld's history, and I'm sure I'm not the only one in that position. Plus, with new members, the concensus may well have changed, right?

As for "assuming" that Transforming = play, I didn't mean to leave that impression, I left the definition of "play" up to the ones taking the poll to decide, as that was part of what i wanted to know. (weather or not they called waht they did "Playing" - more of a personal question)

  9. I thought about that , but an "in-between" option would be too vague and just about EVERYONE would end up putting that, and my poll would be pointless, right? By only giving you 2 choices, I get to see which way you lean more towards.

...and BTW don't think I'm against you if you just collect. It's just my own opinion I'm throwing out there. Please vote and share your own opinion!

  10. collect but don't play!

I saw this and had to start a poll. Wether it's been done before or not.

 Well, I'm not as old as some of you seem to be, but I will admit here and now that I am 21 years of age and I play with my valkyries. Not running through my house screaming and making machine gun noises or anything, but they do not gather dust!

Some may say that they collect for the value of the collectable, or just like to display them. Well, for one, I am the collector in this case, and I am ultimately the one who decides it value to me. The Hasegawa models kits are really nice looking, so why not display them? I mean what's the point of having a transforming toy if you can neither transform, nor play with it.

At least if I play with the thing and it breaks, I can say I got my money's worth out of it, as opposed to the hands-off collector who drops the thing on the floor without even touching the thing.

I'm not saying tht there are not reasons to keep them safe and sterile, but why have them if you can't enjoy them?

  11. (Sorry for the new guy interruption)

I guess I kinda feel like Yamato. I'm looking for other things more (Personally, a 1/48 VF-11B would be the best). I mean I want an SDF-1, but it's not a priority.

And as for MPC, asking if Yamato will build a MPC is like that guy who asked if Yamato was going for a 1/48

    VF-1R  ...

  12. (New guy here)

Now explain why people like the GBP-1S so much. Never appeared on screen. Just some Takatoku mistake that is really rare nowadays. Probably for a reason. The ultimate of chunkiness.

Well, the New VF-1J Hikaru with TV fast packs has never appeared on screen, either (I don't think). You don't hear people complaining about that, though...

  13. Thanks for the help!

 I didn't realize that there was such a size difference between Macross and Macross Plus. So then, are the 1/72 scale toys, then, the "ulitmate" in Mplus? What do any of you who own them think of them? I just ordered a VF-11B with FP from V-E the other day and wanted to know what you thought of them. I looked at a few revievw of them for when they came out, but I wanted an opinion from someone who has had them awhile...

  14. (Hi, new guy to the boards)

Well, what else are they going to do? What about the 1/60 Macross Plus toys they put out? Will there ever be any 1/48 counterparts for them? I'd really love a 1/48 VF-11B, or at least a 19....

...yeah, a 19 with fast packs and the fold generator...
