I used the 'packs on land when I was having trouble with a level Load up a space mission where you can use them, and when you complete it, select 'continue' and it will atart loading up your current mission, plus the fast packs, ground misson or not.

Yeah, that was one of the 2 stages I didn't like (that and the inside of the Z ship). I just hovered slightly above and in front of it and kept firing, shaking missles and using the tone to know when to fire another volly (it switches to the missle view) and just took the thing out, toe-to-toe style. Took a lot of damage, but it worked better then trying finess, and was a lot faster, since my countdown was looking grim after playing tag too long with the Q-rau's

The 17 has to get my vote, but if it was anything besides a valk, I always thought the design of the Variable Glaug was awesome, and one I know I'll likely not live to see. The VF-0D is hot, too. As for the SV0-51, they'd just have to use stainless steel, and it should be fine, right?

I'm all for bigger fins on this fish. Everything everyone else said makes sense, but I don't care if the Battroid is lanky, though I'm sure some would. I always thought the Battroid on the 19 was squat-looking anyway I mean look at the shape/size of the intakes on the 'hips' in the Kawamori design works.

Nerve racking? I would think that applying alllllllllllllllllll those little tiny, tiny, tiny, tiny decals would be FAR more annoying BTW I think the rivets look cool, but peraps a bit overboard in spots... But that's what I like about Valkyries above ther 'mecha'; they're believeable enough to make the look work. -
speaking of floodgates, besides everyone going spastic about the 19 coming out, has anyone heard anything about Yamato getting another round of the vf-0S going? I kinda missed that one ...

I'm actually glad it took them so long. They needed more experience for this kind of thing. The 19 really has a lot of junk in the trunk. I'm actually really excited right now. Not the - 'I'm really excited about this', but typing offhandedly with a straight face. I mean really, the 19, possibly for the end of the year, Godzilla quoting us a quantity of less then five, helping the availibility question, it's like Christmas! (er - the pay for it yourself kind - use your imagination) Now we need some custom decals being cooked up.

well I checked out the toy vault and ended up buying a lot of G.I Joes instead. I didn't buy the valk for the same reason (other than price) I didn't buy it at the con I think its fugly. I was hoping the vault would have other valks besides yours but to no avail. Still I was able to get the Slash ninja turtle my mom wouldn't buy me as a kid lol 409660 Haha, I know. Hence why it's there. But that's a neat little store (well, when it started, the tide of merchandice revelent to my interests was more active then it is now) I sift through there every week or so looking for stuff that got traded in, so if you see a macross item you want come in, better grab it
-
That head looks horrible any ideas on the price they'd ask for that?

Right, same with me too.. Battlecry was the gateway drug. I bought my super-ultra-mega-deluxe game box the day it came out. And it reminded me of all those days I'd kick you in the shin if you tried to seperate me from my TV for a particular half hour. On the side, after having bought some worthless gundam toy for my little brother (he's the one who wanted it), who was watching some G show on Cartoon network, it came with a free other toy of my choice (trying to dump stock or something) so I got some 'Trigun: Monev the Gale' and really liked the detail, so I eventually got into the figure collecting habit. One day while trying to figure out what would be the ultimate toy/figure I'd want to collect, it hit me like a low basement beam - Macross!! I was shown Toynami (the name alone makes me cringe) masterpeices at the local collector's toystore, but I thought they were ugly as sin. (I can;t imagine anyone paying more then $35 for one) So, I figured, hey, I had the internet; I could become an isntant expert in no time. That landed me on a little site in the middle of nowhere to start my reasearch; the 'Valkyire Exchange' It changed my life... or at least my spending habits. Anyway, that's how I also came to know harmony gold, and learn the kind of entity it and Robotech was. I haven't cared since. To, me, paying $150 for an 'authentic collectible' of a licenced plagerism/perversion of someone else's work is a total joke.

Yeah, but when you're a Dad and you're cooking dinner and cleaning and doing all sorts of stuff and trying to watch anime at the same time and can't speak japanese, it sucks. I miss all the subtitles and have no idea what's going on. Sorta' cuts down on what spaces of time I can reserve for my anime sessions. 407894 Exactly. I swear, the English dubb was invented for people who do and fold their own laundry. I never even think about that fact that I'm reading from the bottom scrren untill I realised that when I was doing something else, I didn;t know what the hell they were saying. And I didn;t immeadiately notice. Funny how the mind works (or - at least mine)

BTW has anyone ever had cause to recast the Bandai's 17D heads for the 17S reissue? Don;t even know if you can change them, haven't looked at how it's designed too much, and now it's buried in storage.

Awesome collection Toonz - thanks for sharing!! 404802 Nice. Good variety, too. Can't help but be jealous. Even with a triple display cabinet, you still need to store your super 1/60's in penguin attacker mode to have enough space -
The Macross PS2 game is made for crazy Japanese video game players who somehow managed to be perfect at a game and unlock everything! 406818 Unlockables are generally hard to earn. They're a reward for skilled players, regardless of nationality. I hate the fact that so many modern games just roll over and GIVE you everything. I like my games to fight back. 406830 Actually, once I found how to unlock things, I found the game be fairly easy to unlock most extras. And I like how you had to use some of them to unlock others (mostly Max). If they gave you everything easily, you'd have nothing to shoot for and no real reason to play using what you got once you got a new plane. And looking again, the game lists training enemies as 'V-1R' And they look like a small 'eye'd 1A, with either no, or a very short head laser.
-
I was referring to the Macross game, obviously, the 1R is in Battlecry, it was made FOR battlecry (I believe). That's why I asked. My HUD says "R", unless my TV sucks. I'll go lok one more time. And I hate Battlecry. Just everything was okay. Fighter mode worked, battliod mode worked, ect. Macross played almost the same way but made them all more fun somehow. The protect stuff missions were all terrible. The instant speed that battroid -> fighter change gave in Battlecry was nice, if only they let you really use it, instead of amounting to a dash feature in ground missions..

Well, I have about all the artistic / modeling ability of a blind crack-addict, but I've been really drooling at all the wonderful Hasegawa and such kits I see, let alone all the beautiful work being done on them, and was feeling hopless because there's a lot of Valkyries I really like the fighter mode on that just aren;t availiable as anthing but a model kit. So I was wondering, is there anyone who could do justice to the kits I have? I'm not asking miracles like I assure you I've seen worked in this sub-forum, if I can have it look like it does on the box, I'd be thrilled. The boxes just don't have that 3-D appeal, you know? Anyone have any ideas? I have no idea what it would cost to have someone burn their ambition on something going to be displayed by someone else, but trying to balance getting a decent job done bringing my cardboard coffins to fruition, withough doing quite so good a job on my wallett...
-
Yeah, it rocks, too, all the benefits and mobility of battroid mode, but you can launch missiles
-
Seriously, in the second part of the training mission, when you're beating on those valks in the ground battle, they show up as being '1R's I can't get the best look at them, but I think they look different then the A's, so it's not a typo.. I didn;t notice untill I played that part a few times Is this a joke?
-
Darn right, and the beams are aimed ahead of you and linger there, so you end up flying into them half the time. Plus it takes so much more to down them then the simple regults.
-
Half spoilers for semi-tricky ones: When you're in a mission with a cat's eye, and it gets nabbed by a ship and they're sreaming at you "somethingsomething MiSaRu!", for the love of all that is holy, stop firing your missiles at it Yes, I'm missile-happy, I am sorry. When the Zentradi comps starts preacing at you and lights up, run away - right away. I though I was supposed to fight it.. Keep en eye out of purple target arrows, so time doesn;t tick down before you get there Yeah, so unless you're just not paying attention (like me), it should all be failry easy to know what you're supposed to do.
-
haha. If you wanted the red and orange one, you can buy my old one in the Emerald square mall's (N.Attleborough, Mass) 'Toy Vault' for the $49.99 they're trying to sell it for. (don;t know if you actually live close to Mass, though)
-
Yes, and yes. It's pretty simple once you get the hang of it, some tricks aren;t explained well (er.. you know what I mean) like shaking missiles (control stick left/right really fast a few times when a missile(s) is about to hit - any mode), but it's much less bland then Robotech.. I played through the DYRL story, and was ready to give it a medal (you get to go toe to toe with crusers with reflex missiles, and do the deed with with Baldoza instead of Hilkaru.) It's was really impressive. But they also have the TV story (not that it matters terribly much if you can't understand what they're saying, but it's still new missions) It seems to control like Battlecry at first, but once you master the modes (Gerwalk is still to tricky to use well - it's more the 'fire missles while not moving' mode) it's much more fun for me, and you can actually use all modes to some degree in most missions to great effect, instead of being *completely* tailored to one (especially the Q-rau/Miriya fights). Gamplay aside, it's much more entertaining. (Instead of the 'after the TV series's real battle, you get to play mop-up with a few lost squads' side-story, you're in the thick of it) Now, these are all minor things, I won't fool you, it mostly involves fireing at a great number of green blips with a far greater number of missles, There is a lack of ground stages/targets (why is it that the enemy is either flying or walking? Don;t they ever land or something?) and your feet thrusters overheat (and way too fast) in battriod. But I really enjoyed, and you don;t need to know much jap at all to either. Hope that helps.

okay, I know there are a few topics about this, but took me a while to get and start playing this game. I love it tons, but there are a few little things I can't seem to get. First off, what is my guy's name? What is my partner's (?) name? Are we in the same squad / is that the whole squadron? What is my squadron's name? Is that the one with the orange spiral or the bull? What is the name of the chick always yaking my ear off? Is she the one in both the Elint/Ostrich stages? Thanks if you can help, I could at least know who they're talking to at that point, because other wise, I'll just be doing my thing, totally oblivious that they screaming for me to stop Also, can the macross be damaged by your own missles?
-
I personally love the 17D, and would love to have one, but if you're only semi-interested, I would think the reissue 17S would be the same thing as the vintage one, just cheaper, if you just want to check out the toy?
-
How do I handle the floodgates? Simple, I miss out and hope for / buy the reissues I had to pass up the 0S for now updating my comp, and Alboin's got a new sword coming out that I need to save for ... Darn it, why can;t I like cheap things? Yamato needs to be more considerate to my other addictions.
