I just wonder if that pic is for real. I mean, one lonely guy like that seems normal but 6? How can 6 dudes like that hook up and do that sort of crap together?

Gakken 1/35 Legioss/Alpha Repro Stickers
Jawjaw replied to tom64ss's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Cool beans! -
I love it but find it strange that it is so different from the first series. It is over the top silly at times but I still find it very enjoyable. Sometimes I scratch my head like why nobody seems to mind much that Sagara blows things up constantly and whips out a gun in middle of class everyday.

I don't think it is that as much as the info they would release caused more trouble than it was worth. Fans are very critical and are quick to pass judgements. When things change or never show up, some fans become very bitter. Yamato is a young company and learned a lot of things about marketing the hard way. They learned why most companies don't release information about their products too far in advance. We already know what Yamato is going to be doing most of next year. There is the return of the Mac+ valks, the Mac0 valks, 1/60, GBP-1S, Q-Rau, flight suit, perhaps the huge Monster, and I'm sure there are a few more 1/48 VF-1's. That is a lot of stuff for Yamato to tackle in one year.

If it is the Roy VF-1S, get the new one. The original had several annoying things like the crooked skull, nose crack with landing gear down, and canopies that don't stay up. If you can find an original Hikaru VF-1A cheap, then get it. Since the reissues are out, you might be able to get a score of a deal on an original and save a bundle. Like the VF-1S, the nosecone and flaps will fall off rather easily but not if you are careful. I knocked my flaps off maybe twice and that's it. The nosecone is more annoying but both parts go back on easily.

The more I watch Mac0 the more I want Mac0 toys. The VF-0 is okay but I really want the SV-51. If Yamato can pull off an accurate design with all the right moving parts, that would be ultra trick. Although, that full armored VF-0 is looking pretty sweet. I don't mind waiting but I wish I could fast forward and take a peek. I rather they not do them in 1/48, though. I would like to see a nice middle ground where they still look good and are more affordable. The current $200 for a fp 1/48 is just too much in the long run. I have only three 1/48's with two fastpacks and that cost me well over $500. Now I can't afford to get anymore 1/48's and that sucks. A while ago, someone brought up the idea of Yamato selling their toys as parts where you put it together yourself. Perhaps that something Yamato should seriously consider to increase sales.

I was floored by those Destroids, too. I never cared for those things in the original series because they never did anything but sit in one place and get blown up with one shot. The Mac0 destroids were kicking ass and putting on the moves. I was actually sad when they got destroyed because they were so cool. I was even more blown away when the armored vf-0 busted out and shoved that sv-51 out of the ship. Heck, I was blown away with everything that followed that as well. I have zero complaints with Mac0 so far. I'm not too concerned with how it ends. For me, I don't really like the idea of prequels - after thoughts trying to tie into something that was created long ago. So I am just watching Mac0 as a person who never seen Macross. In other words, I'm just following the story and enjoying every beautiful frame of animation. I sure hope the release the whole series on DVD in the states with audio options, extras, etc.

Shaweet. I can't wait to download it. I hope my current bittorrents are finished downloading when I get home.

If that is the case, then I bet those whitening strips will remove yellowing. I'm being half-serious. That might actually work!

It looks like a TT to me and a pretty good deal. Everything Macross is not sellling well these days. Most fans are spending/saving their money for expensive 1/48's and all the other new Macross gear.
-
Nice! I have never seen one of those built and you did a really good job. It looks great just how it is IMO. If the armor had too much detail, it would stand too much.

I have on small things but not total paint removal. I use it to clean up oily residues or overspray on toys. I've heard some people had problems with it and don't recommend it.

Adult Swim Announces 3 New Anime Series For 2004
Jawjaw replied to Effect's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I agree about GITS. I haven't watched all the episodes yet but I can't imagine Cartoon Network airing every episode unedited. I'm specifically thinking of that episode of that ex American military guy that is jacked up in the head and doing really bad things to random people. -
I've heard bad things about oven cleaner. But I guess every method works well on some things and not another. I used brake fluid to clean all my Jetfire parts and never had any problems. On a similar note - don't try to use graffiti removal. I experimented with some that was not intended for plastics and I found out why. I tried it on a junk Jetfire wing and it melted it.

Stooopid toy "blacklist" soccer mom poopoo!
Jawjaw replied to 91WhiskeyM6's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
You guys have to remember that there are a lot of stupid people out there. I think it is safe to say that there are a lot of things we don't want kids exposed to, like Michael Jackson. What frickin parent would let their kids sleep over at that dude's house? A few rated R movies or stupid toys are not going to corrupt anyone but every parent should be very aware of what there kids are getting into. Lists like that are kind of stupid but they can be helpful to those parents who do not have a clue of what is out there. Every kid and family is different. I wouldn't want every 12 year old to have bb guns like those. -
I can sort of see the video but the connection is not all that great and/or real player sucks ass. From what I can see, it looks awesome. I too love the beautiful backgrounds and animation. I look forward to the day when I can sit down and watch all the episodes back to back.

Best Introductory Cowboy Bebop episode?
Jawjaw replied to Salty Pete's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I liked the dramatic episodes like Ballad of Fallen Angels but I think those are better after you have seen a few other episodes and become interested in the characters. Pierrot le Fou is my pick. I loved that episode because of the little details and the camera angles used. If not that, it would be good to just start at the beginning. I didn't care for the movie all that much. It was okay and all but didn't seem to have the same flavor as the tv series. -

Big robots with guns are not exactly innocent. 2 Fast and 2 Furious is a stupid movie that glamourizes breaking the law and street racing. Wrestling, Matrix, and those other movies are a little more obvious. I suppose you guys do not have any young kids and don't really understand this sort of thing. I'm not saying I fully support such extremes but I can see how others might. -
I agree about Cartoon Network. When Fox first aired Family Guy, they moved it around so much that I didn't know when it was on. These days, Fox seems too occupied by stupid reality shows. Family Guy just doesn't seem to fit in. Cartoon Network already has tons of crazy shows and helped bring back Family Guy. They should get the new shows. I also agree that the Weinstein episode was not that bad. The worst I remember was when Quadmire was fishing for his keys in his pants for like a whole minute. All that Jew stuff was way over the top and obvious it was not intended to be taken seriously.

Worst Science Fiction Film of All Time
Jawjaw replied to JELEINEN's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
WOAH! You don't mess with Gilliam's 12 Monkeys! Exactly. Not everyone can appreciate Gilliam's strange visions but you should at least give him some credit for imagination and creativity. If 12 Monkeys is the worst film you have ever seen, then you just haven't seen that many movies. I make it a point to only see movies I know I will like but once in a while I get burned. -
Worst Science Fiction Film of All Time
Jawjaw replied to JELEINEN's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
It's not fair to mention movies you just didn't like. A bad movie should have an extra quality of sucky suckiness like bad directing, bad acting, huge plot holes, and the smell of death. Cheap sci-fi shows made for public TV or for young kids shouldn't count either. Highlander 2 is my all time worst sci-fi movie. I was no huge Highlander fan but thought the first film was pretty cool. The 2nd one was just so bad I wanted to cry. -
I had no idea that those HCM's pimped the ladies like that.
-
I'm not a huge Gundam fan but that Gundam commercial is the best. Keep 'em coming, Shawn.

I have not seen Eva but have seen RahXephon. On the surface, RahXephon has great animation and plenty of interesting characters. The story gets confusing at times but I think I understood the basics. Things get intense and there are those cool battles you love to see. I would recommend it to anyone who likes quality anime. But why listen to me. Go download an episode or two off Macross4 and check it out for yourself.

I think everyone still enjoys a good custom. I know I do. The head looks sharp and so does everything else. It sucks that you have to give it up but at least it stays in the family.
