Here is the front of the Takara box:

Wow Nice detail work. Everything looks absolutely perfect.
-
That would be pretty cool if the speakers worked and you built in a radio into the body. Anyways, it looks pretty cool as it is.

Without any proof or pics, it sounds like the typical rumor. We know for a fact that they are working on the regular Monster but it's still a WIP. I hope Yamato is seriously considering making the Koenig in a reasonable size. I would think it would sell better than the huge, expensize Monster.

Very cool and excellent work.

While I disklike swapping parts, I wish Yamato did that. Nice work. I can't wait to see more.

Anime Artists In Japan Work For Peanuts!
Jawjaw replied to isamu's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Something else to consider is what the average Japanese salary is. In my work, we have another main office in Scotland and the people there get paid much less and end up paying more in taxes. They have more benefits and holidays so that helps. -
arc - It might help to make sure all your drivers are up to date. That has worked for me a few times in the past. The only other explanation is that the demo was a much smaller level than the full version. However, with your powerhouse rig, it should be able to handle anything.

If Yamato couldn't do a perfect transformation with the VF-0 where even the anime showed swing bars, I don't the more technical looking sv-51 will be perfect. I have a feeling it's going to be like a Lego set where you have a pile of pieces that you use to construct each mode.

That black plastic thingy is the radar and another detail of the 1/48. The first two 1/48's had the problem where it fell off easily but it was fixed on the rest.
-
No, much cheaper - like $30-40. It's still going to be expensive for what you get but the cost will be lower than previous Yamato's. Shipping and the yen will still be expensive but that's not Yamato's fault. I'm still not excited about this toy at all. While the VF-0 is not my favorite design, I am still disappointed. Everything just seems average or sub-par. I understand what Yamato is trying to do but I got used to expecting more from them. If the SV-51 gets the same treatment, I am going to be very sad.

While it is scripted in parts, the game is also heavily dynamic thanks to the brilliant ai. You really get the feeling of fighting side by side with other troops and chaos of battle. Multiplayer is a mix bad IMO. It is more realistic than most mp shooters but that is a bad thing at times.

The Hasbro version is constructed exactly the same as the Takara version. Most of the upper body and legs are metal.

Okay, there is not much more to it but I will give full details. I first cut two pieces of aluminum tubing, each 24mm. That's just a number I came up with that seemed about right. I used wood blocks and a hack saw to make my own mitre saw but it didn't work all that great. The cut was semi straight but it was not very clean at all. I mainly used an exacto knive to shave off the excess metal and sandpaper to even the edge. I recommend planning ahead and use both outer ends of the aluminum tubing for the top part of the smokestacks. In other words, the side you cut should be the down side and the clean, untouched end will face up. I used an exacto knive to shave off the chrome plating on the stock upper pipe. I had to shave a little more off the plastic as well. Make sure and test the fit before shaving too much off. I also used the exacto knive to taper the inside of the lower new smoke stack. This helps it slide on easier and gives it a more flush fit. The stock aluminum tube I got had a dull finish. I used some very fine sandpaper to buff it out. I started with a fine grit and finished with a very, very fine grit. I'm not sure what grit since it came in a pack of various fine grits that I bought long time ago. I also used some rubbing compound to clean them up a little. I didn't spend time polishing so I'm sure a better job can be done. I was thinking of using some chrome spray paint but after sanding them with the fine sandpaper, they looked good enough. To finish it off, I used some leftover blackish acrylic paint for the inside off the top of the smokestacks. It looked much better after doing that.

Sorry, I meant to say 7/32 or 5mm.

I thought I would share my Optimus Prime smokestack mod because it was so easy and only set me back an extra $1.50. The only cost was for the 12 inch long 1/32" aluminum tube found at a hobby store. In order to get the tubes to slide over, I had to shave off the chrome coating and a little of the plastic on the short smokestacks. I also shave a little off the inside of the tubing for a nice snug and flush fit. I used some fine sandpaper and compound to polish the aluminum for a close to chrome look. I also used some leftover black paint on the inside of the tube for a better look. I love the results because it looks stock.

Yeah and they can build a tv out of a wristwatch. Stereotypes are fun.

<sarcasm>What a minute - since when did everyone dislike the Toynami MPC's? This is all news to me. I've been visiting these forums just about every day for years and this is the first time I heard someone bashing the MPC.</sarcasm>

I try to keep all my stuff out of the sun at all times. If you leave anything in the sun long enough, it will do damage. If someone has a busted Yamato part, maybe they could experiment for us by leaving it in the bright sun for a few weeks. captain america: The 1/48 VF-1J is a little more white than the 1/60 version. The 1/48 VF-1J is also a different white than the DYRL 1/48's - not much but a little. I'm not sure how to explain the difference but neither look yellow in hue to me.

I wouldn't call it ugly but it's not a beauty queen that's for sure. I think it has a retro fighter charm mixed with a modern sleek fighter. It is a very unique design, yet has a familiar look to it. I like the shape and location of the wings and the long, bird like nose. The whole thing is supposed to resemble a bird creature and I think it is successful. I don't care for the pink paint and all the stripes, though. The gray version looks much better.

Clean up on aisle six - I just drooled all over the place! I am not that interested in models but I so have to get one, or two. Nice job, Hasegawa!

It's definately not a version 1 because the tabB is beefed up. I'm not sure how to tell a 1.5 from a 2.0, though. I know all version 2's have plastic shoulders instead of metal, like the version 1's, but I think some 1.5's had this as well. Toyota releases a trumpet playing robot.

Synthetic lips - LOL Thanks for the laugh guys, I needed it. -
I feel like a fool because I payed full price (6800 yen) for the reissues when the first came out in 2001. It didn't take long before everyone had them on sale for 50% off. I'm not sure what they go for now but you shouldn't spend more than $40 on them. I'm sure you could find one for much less on ebay. As far as the other reissues, I think the answer is an obvious no. Bandai had little success with the Mac7 reissues and not much more success with the 1/55 resissues. We all thought they were going to reissue all the 1/55's but they suddenly stopped and have not done anything with Macross since.

There are pics somewhere in MW but I can't find them so I will try to explain in words. First, the hatch that opens to clear a way for the head needs to be pushed in a notch on the back of the battroid. I find it easier to wiggle it in or push on side in first. This will make the backpack sit flush against the back. The hook on the top, rear of the back should then be able to clasp onto the backpack to keep it in place. If the back hatch is not pushed in, the clasp will not reach. The hook will keep the loaded backpack up but you can also use the extra piece included in the fastpacks. This piece slides into the empty space behind the head and also helps keep everything in place. It is not necessary but does help the appearance IMO.
