Just so we can get out of politics, try this. Think of something that was around 20-50 years ago but isn't today. Anything. A restaurant, a toy, a store. Then ask someone 18-24 yrs of age about it. Most will have no idea what you are talking about or have very vague recall. Just as an example, try Woolworth 5-and-dime stores. Founded in 1878 and stayed in business till 1997. They were huge and I still remember when they existed and where I could go to one. There was even a infamous one in Greensboro, NC (Google it). But then the company died out. In a decade, only a few remained while the majority closed their doors. By the time they closed completely, very few people remembered they existed. Now, nearly 20 years since the company went defunct, the majority of people will not even know the name. The next largest group will remember the name, but only have a few details. The next group will know the name, recall details. The next group will recall everything, but this group will be significantly smaller. In 30 more years, Woolworth will be a "legend" of retail. So the Death Star admiral chastising Vader about his "sad devotion to an ancient religion" when that was only 30-some years ago doesn't sound crazy.

I don't think that's a problem of the prequels. That's a problem of the sequels and the way they treat it. By the OT, the Empire doesn't fear the Jedi like how they were feared in the prequels. Who knows how many officers Vader choked and killed for questioning him. When you have commanders talking back to you, insubordinate admirals, then the common folk don't fear Force users like they once use to. The SW universe is vast enough that by Ep 2, the Jedi numbers were stretched enough that they couldn't keep peace in the galaxy if the Separatists were gaining power.

That's only 112 mph. And that's maximum speed. How often do you see people driving at 120 mph on the road? And as a matter of comparison, a RGM-79 GM's max speed is 192 km/h. The RX-78-2 Gundam's max speed is 205 km/h! And both have more mass than a Tomahawk. Imagine those sprints.

There's that sense of deja vu.... Let me underline the piece of text for you re-read. Again, read the underlined sentence. Macross Zero takes place in 2008. Now, focus on the part I'm underlining. Same could be said about an Octos versus a VF. Yet the Octos production ended while all the others flourished.

Actually, Luke has been gone for less than 30 years. It's been 30 years since ROTJ but he hasn't been gone all of those 30 years.

New MG Freedom 2.0 images. So they added more stuff that sticks out or opens for v2.0. It seems like the design got busier with all the bumps and parts that open up. If they ever produce a Freedom Master Archive, we'll probably see them justify v2.0 as Freedom from SEED Destiny. That's how they justified all the various RX-78 and Zeta model versions we've seen over the years.

One thing I did find quite annoying in episode 2 was Gillian Anderson's monotonic voice that had absolutely no emotion. At first, I thought it was just what the scene called for but then she did it in every scene she was in.

Frankly, you are better off using Macross Chronicle as your source than attempting to find all the Compendium's original sources, which likely Egan Loo has all of. Prior to the Chronicle, information was scattered in various publications and throughout the productions and their related materials. And that material was released during the production-wise lifetime. Some of it will be in the artbooks, but some of it will be from back issues of magazines, which will be harder to track down.

Yes. Do you have a copy of the book that was mentioned in the quote you quoted? Do you know what it's contents are? I have the book. It's not just Macross art in that book, but all of Kawamori's works from his 1st 30-some years of designing. Kawamori has design tanks, just that they were not used for Macross. He's done A LOT of projects in his life; not all of them Macross and not all of them made it to a production. And that is what that book covers; his life's work. None taken. I'm just telling you what is in Macross based on what we've seen and what is written. And we don't have variable tanks. At least none in the 30 years that this franchise has existed, and likely none in the foreseeable future. Of course it's not prohibited. It's your fan fiction. It's your world. Do whatever you want. Be inspired by whatever you want. But since we are talking about fan fiction, you should start your thread in the fan fiction section of the forums.

The key phrase in the quote you quoted is "Shoji Kawamori Design Works". http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/books/shoji/shoji_design_works.htm Great book for looking at all the work Kawamori has done in his 1st 30-some years of designing. Advanced Valkyrie and Air Cavalry Chronicles. We know about those. Most of those never made it beyond a sketch. A lot of those designs ended up elsewhere or inspirations for other stuff (like Escaflowne) Kawamori has been in the business for the better part of 30 years. He's worked on A LOT of other projects besides Macross. Kawamori has designed A LOT of stuff. Enough stuff to fill volumes of books. He's designed variable tanks, cars, and even cars with Nike shoes. But that stuff doesn't appear or apply in Macross. And we've told you why. Several times now.

It's still fan-fiction. This section is for discussing topics from Macross, about Macross. What you want to do is talk about something that came from your head and isn't in Macross. You want to create your version of Macross. In that case, that's fan fiction and we have a section where you can explore your creative potential. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showforum=5

It was Avatar 2 that moved its proposed December 2017 release date first, then Episode 8 spontaneously moved to December 2017 from May 2017. IMDB still lists Avatar 2 in pre-production while Episode 8 started filming but delayed itself. I don't think it's a matter of competition, Cameron just isn't ready to start.

Episode 2 was much better. Episode 1 felt like we were playing catch-up on 15 years of events. Episode 2 felt a bit more "comfortable". It's still a little rushed but this is a mini-series so I don't expect them to waste much time, which is fine.
-
Yep. Episodes 1 & 2 were aired on consecutive nights. The rest of the mini series will air weekly.

Heard people got only half of the episode DVR'd cuz the game went long and the postgame show ate 30 minutes of the premiere. They should probably re-air the premiere before next week. And yeah, I was channel flipping since the airing was delayed but I think I caught the jist of it.
-
He may. Though, I think he probably wants to step away for a while if he chooses to come back and write a script. Being showrunner and lead writer has probably drained him for 5, heading into 6 years. Plus he's still working with Mark Gatiss on Sherlock. And just an FYI, Chibnall's Who episodes were "42", "The Hungry Earth", "Cold Blood", "Dinosaurs on a Spaceship", and "The Power of Three". I won't list his 8 Torchwood episodes.

Writer Steven Moffat to leave Doctor Who I recall Peter Capaldi remark that Doctor Who is the only show he knew where one of the first questions people ask is "When are you leaving?".

Avatar 2 never really had a release date, just a planned date of December 2017. We don't know why Avatar 2 has been pushed back only that it has. When that happened, Disney pushed back the release date to December 2017. Seeing the success of Episode 7 during the holidays, when there are normally fewer big budget releases, this was a no-brainer for Disney.

Unfortunately, Yoko Kanno is not involved with the soundtrack for Delta. Music composers for Delta are Saeko Suzuki, TOMISIRO and Mina Kubota. Macross Delta TV Series to Premiere in Spring With Lagrange, Kaleido Star Composers That being said, Ms. Kanno could be involved at a later date if she has some free time. Unlikely, but always a possibility.

As Yakko Warner would say, "G'night everybody!" No. I'm referring to the 'shippin wars from Frontier. -
Mit, we've had this same conversation with you now on 2 different websites with the same result. Going around to different websites isn't going to change anything. Again, it works for Eureka 7's universe. Not Macross. Different universes have different rules. Mixing universes like in the Super Robot Wars and Another Century-games also have their own rules which generates a different set of reasons which only exists in those games. When you bring those concepts to other universes, they start falling apart because it doesn't work outside the universe it was created for. If I tried to blend Battlestar Galactica's ideas into Star Wars, concepts would break down because those ideas were not made for another universe.

I can invoke nostalgia by popping in a DVD or Blu-ray of the original movie that gave me that feeling the first time. Why do I need something new to give me that familiar feeling when the stuff on my shelf does it for me at anytime? Bless home video and Netflix.

I have no doubt the move was for financial reasons. Didn't they move Pirates of the Caribbean out of December too?
