"Star Trek Movie Syndrome" befalls Macross?
azrael replied to Winter's topic in Movies and TV Series
Oh, hush now boy.... You're getting all worked up for nothing. Quit talking and get back to watching M7....Mr. "I've only seen 55% of M7". That could be said of a lot of shows. Or you can even do it the other way around by taking a short story and expanding it to a long story....but that might ruin some of the impact of the short story, like taking a Miyazaki film and turning it into a series... Familiarity with other fiction is something you might want to give some more thought about. I find that stories that have more than 1 or 2 genres/concepts/etc. woven into the story to be a bit more facinating. Look at M0. It mixes religion with sci-fi and drama. With the original SDF Macross, there was comedy (after watching it and following the liner notes, there are lots of in-jokes and little things) and a love story woven into the sci-fi drama. M7 went a little beyond that SDF-formula and added an aspect of religion, namely faith. It added a bit of dimension to the story that was never used in a Macross series. This is probably where M+ lacks in story, besides it being short. It's got action, but that action is more in tune with the sci-fi aspect. The love story has been reduced to just above sea level. M+ is a sci-fi action with a small love story, yet it leans more on the sci-fi action. IMO, that's probably what made M+ a "2-dimensional" story. -
Shin's mom wasn't impaled. Although, I don't think it would be a good idea to turn her around to take a look either. Amuro role was a supporting cast, but he was another Newtype "voice" or mentor to Kamille (that is, when Kamille was on Earth). Well, where as Amuro had a much smaller role in Zeta, I'm expecting the same for Kira, however, since Kira was indirectly responsible for the death of Shin's family.... I'll revert to my original statement: Kira may have to teach Shin a thing or two... Now, can we actually get a decent Mu/Creuset fight this time around? I mean between Rey Za Burrel and Neo Roanoke. I don't want to see another MA vs. MS/MS vs. wrongly-equipped MS/over-powered MS vs. MS-fight. I want these 2 to be evenly matched this time around.

Most people are labelling Stellar (the blond chick) as the Four Murasame-equivalent from Zeta. Hummm......it looks like it might not be a good idea if Shin or Kira meet....

So we WILL be getting the rest of the series? That's not speculation? Yes, we will get the rest of the series. The R2 release of volume 5 is not due out till later though. Bandai USA, decided to release Yukikaze when it was on episode 3 in Japan. Episode 4 wasn't released until April of this year. Bandai has to wait if they want to fit the last 3 episodes on 1 volume. We will get the remaining episodes but we are waiting for the Japanese release first.

I've gotta start using Winny again....either that or find a new raw....
-
At the time of this posting, it is almost 3:00 PM in Japan. We've got another 3 hours before it airs. Add time to encode and distribute. Most east coast people are going to bed. In my semi-drugged state, I'll be heading to sleep soon, myself. Trust me, by morning, you will find the raws online and ready to download. By the time you wake up in the morning, the raws should be out. Just wake up, look for it on your usual BT site and download and go back to sleep. Don't worry about it. There will be thousands of people downloading it. Be patient.

A question of last episode to Flashback 2012
azrael replied to route242's topic in Movies and TV Series
http://www.anime.net/macross/characters/i/...#ichijyo_hikaru The voice actor for Hikaru in the PS2 game is Kenji Nojima. Remember, this is the game and Hikaru is not the focus of the PS2 game. -

Although, Kawamori did use another voice actor for Hikaru in the PS2 game. However, IMO, I don't believe he was proud to the fact that he had to find a new voice actor, but since the role was limited it was something he could live with. As for Mrs. Ijima, she has moved away from her one-time role as a voice actor. She's not a voice actor by trade so it's not surprising that she has stepped out of that profession and focused more on singing. Although, most of the singers who I've heard do some voice acting, don't sound as good as a professional voice actor. (Megumi Hayashibara is a VA by trade, singer second, so she sounds much better doing voice over's). -
New Macross series and/or movies please...
azrael replied to Firefox's topic in Movies and TV Series
Remember, Macross isn't shoved down our throats like Gundam. Big difference in terms of marketing here. Depends on which set of fans we are talking about. But again, marketing comes into play. Macross has never been marketed to the point where I see it on the cover of every magazine on the shelf. Remake the original? Why? We've got games that do that. I would love a long series, but that would be up to the studio to decide. As I see it, CG VFs is the way to go but, that takes time and money. TV series are, generally (with the exception being GitS:SAC, but SAC was stretched out to 2 episodes per month, giving the production crew plenty of time and money to produce it), not funded as well and are under time constraints. Most TV series production schedules run about 1-2 months ahead of the air date. Unfortunately, VFs are Macross' trademark mecha. If we want a ground war, we would be watching Gundam. -
It helps to post a link to the answer when answering a newbie question: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=2260 wolframbane, please, use the search function next time. Not all questions are worded like yours. Look for similar phrases and you will find your answer.

"Star Trek Movie Syndrome" befalls Macross?
azrael replied to Winter's topic in Movies and TV Series
You do and I'll make you listen to every Reba West-song on the Robotech soundtrack. On second thought, go ahead, I'm in a torturing-mood tonight. Better yet, Star Trek V marathon! -

Yes. I believe it names it as VF-14 Vampire so "14" or "Vampire" would be fine.

I'd rather say: Not in my lifetime.

"Star Trek Movie Syndrome" befalls Macross?
azrael replied to Winter's topic in Movies and TV Series
First I've heard that tidbit. Can anyone confirm this and/or provide a source? Actually, all anime is aimed at kids. Just which part of the kid-spectrum are we talking about? 4-9 or 10-16? -
Was there some rumor before about a new Trans-shift Armor? I never heard that rumor before, that's what this seems to be dispelling. Just regular phase shift like usual. And Gilbert seems to have some plans under the table already. This might speak volumes. The episode is actually going to air on the 9th. Perahaps there was a rumor running around on a Japanese board (perhaps somewhere in the depths of 2ch's boards) but that was the first time I heard someone mentioning trans-phase on those Gundams. As for Gilbert, if he ain't a ringleader, he a pawn in this game. I'm eager to see how this game of politics turns out. With regards to Neo's mask, he's connected to Mu and Le Creuset, period. That's the obvious part. What that connection is, has yet to be played out.

You gave it 10 minutes? Geez, you didn't even try. Sad.... -
Unofficial. Most certainly is. But it does tell one where he got his ideas for the add-ons to the VF-0 and SV-51 in episode 5.

Hate to bring up an old nitpick, but why do people still post their avatars to the test forum? The board changes the name of the upload (attachments get a "post-*" prefix while avatars get "av-*" prefix) so that it would not get deleted (without admin intervention). As long as people learn to work with their restrictions (64x64 jpg/gif/swf/png/etc) I don't see a need to keep posting avatars to the test forum.

Since this is the beginning, I expect the car to not be sleek or nice looking. Of what I read back when they were just starting production, they wanted the car to be an urban tank. After they brought in the fact that it was an origin story, I thought that was a very good idea. In the comics, the car followed the same development path, (started big, then went down to a coupe), so this movie's Batmobile made sense. As for the costume....Everything but the mask is fine with me. I didn't like how the ears formed.

The pilots and crew on Asuka II are, for most purposes, considered UN Spacy. Where they came from and such gets moved over to UN jursidiction. This probably done, production-wise, to make it all easier to distinguish who is on which side. Roy could have been USAF, Shin was USN, Katie could have been USMC or which ever Marine Corps of her origin. From which countries' armed forces no longer matter because they all get consolidated under the UN armed-forces banner.

If people don't like the subject of a thread
azrael replied to Wabbit's topic in MW Site News & Member Feedback
Well, since you happen to be responding to what I said, which was in response to Duke's comment, let me ask, why do you care what I said? Did it affect the topic of that thread? No. People still went on with the topic of the tread. It wasn't until Skull Leader, brought it back up, and then A1 happened to have responded to what I said, did this whole thing pop back up. The thread is still going without anybody needlessly ranting so what's the problem? Every thread is going to have some mindless comments, but instead of telling people to not post if they have nothing to contribute, you could do yourself a favor, save yourself the drama of ranting, and ignore the mindless comments in that thread. It's a double-edge sword. Live with it. -
Look at the toy for the YF-21 and compare to the YF-21/VF-22 artwork. Those shoulders magically disappear in the artwork, yet stick out quite well on the toy so you have to wonder how those shoulders work. There are also instances where I've seen the legs thicker than they should be in battroid mode on the VF-22. There really isn't any one particular VF that is proportional because lot of the work is done from a camera POV. With M0, there are times where the VF-0's legs grow and stretch in battroid mode and then look thicker and smaller in fighter mode. The lineart/still images doesn't help either since they are done at a different perspectives. This probably isn't a newbie question since it relies more on opinion than fact.
