  1. Isn't it also possible they continued to be an issue up through the orbital bombardment? I could be wrong(it's happened a lot lately), but wasn't the disappearance of Macross city attributed to a terrorist attack? The annihilation of an entire city, with 0 survivors, by a terrorist group was considered a plausible story. It seems to me that would require a well-trained and well-equipped force to pull off. 409581[/snapback] They could have been an issue, but details are sketchy around there. They didn't make enough noise to be noted in the chronology. I don't think we ever got an official word on what happened to South Ataria. I would have to watch SDFM again.
  2. I agree. Sci-Fi is expensive. How many times did Ron Moore complain in the podcasts for BSG about his budget? And true Sci-Fi also doesn't have a wide audience. Ron Moore considers BSG a character drama first, Sci-Fi second. This saves him from large budgets and gathers an audience. If Ron Moore wanted to make BSG really hardcore sci-fi, he would (a)run over budget, AND, (b)no studio would put that on the screen since the scope of the audience is so terribly small. Even Serenity is guilty of throwing in the "testosterone boost". If it didn't, it wouldn't sell. People want entertainment, if that means throwing in large explosions and fighting...well...that's what it's going to be.
  3. There is a difference between the Pre-SWI Anti-UN and the Post-SW1 Anti-UN. You have to remember that the Pre-SW1 A-UN was made up of lots of independent countries who refused to join the UN. Then you had defectors who left the UN and joined the ranks of the A-UN. This is how the Anti-UN was able to produce the SV-51. DD and Nora took the VF data with them when they defected. They found a interested parties (countries) and the rest is history. There were more countries in closer proximity with the man-power to do it. The post SW1 A-UN is much more spread out less likely to start a war with the UN since the UN has a much greater fleet. The post SW1 A-UN is more likely to do hit-and-run tactics on supply convoys, kidnap people, make demands, etc., than declare open war on a group that could eliminate them with 1 shot. They don't have the resources in ideal locations to make such a move. With everybody spread out, you have more people likely to form their own faction with their own goals. Better times for the Anti-UN... ...not exactly. The VF-1 was ready to go into production 1 month before the incident in the Pacific (was was placed into production 2 months later). The engines used by the VF-1 were not ready, not the VF-1 itself. We don't know much about the situation of the Anti-UN at the time of M0. M0 may have been their last concentrated effort to make a stand. They may not have had the resources to continue large-scale operations after M0.
  4. Nope. The 2 OSTs are the only ones that were ever released. There may have been additional tracks on various other general Macross CDs or on the special release CD (limited release only) MII single, but I don't believe there were any other tracks than those that came out on the OSTs.
  5. Please don't bump your thread every few hours...it's quite annoying. Just give it some time. We do have lives you know.
  6. In the movie, Clark goes on a sabatical..or what Jimmy calls, "soul searching". The movie should expand on it more though.
  7. 11 clips from the movie, courtesy of IESB.net. http://www.iesb.net/warnerbros2006/061306.php
  8. Not sure what all of this has to do with M7.... but at least it's anime...
  9. Licensing issue and time. Peter Jackson has indicated he would like to do it, but he has other things he wants to do. The Lovely Bones is his next movie and then he has to stick around to produce Halo, which still has no director (I don't think PJ wants to direct this one).
  10. This is a good read: http://sciencentral.com/articles/view.php3...le_id=218392807
  11. In any case, those are Korean releases....
  12. That DYRL? copy looks like a bootleg. Korean bootleg perhaps? The same could probably be said for the M+ copy they have.
  13. I should probably note that Sony is no longer considering the PS3 as a console but as a computer. http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=9642 So factor this in with your comments about blu-ray and HD-DVD.
  14. You may use the noob thread to post quick questions like this. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=140
  15. F91 had newtypes. V had newtypes.
  16. Link to links: http://www.cinescape.com/0/editorial.asp?a...38&obj_id=51487 AICN is the only one to give it a less than sparkling review at the moment. We'll see more as we get closer.
  17. Chances of HD Macross.....ask this question again when HD players come down in price. At the $500-800, even I don't need that much clarity.
  18. Yes, those are Dual's beam rifles. As I said, out protagonist must love dual hand-held everything...Dual rifles, dual pistols, dual beam-blade swords... Some magazine scans have referred to his Striker pack as the Noir Striker. So yes, he can mount various Striker packs if he wishes.
  19. For some reason, I don't feel interested in this one....maybe when it comes to DVD.
  20. Long replies..... So what was this thread about?
  21. I stopped collecting comics right about the time they were slowly making the switch from newspaper to the glossy stuff. Artists have become somewhat manga like. Stories span way too many titles for my wallet and living space to deal with. If I ever collect a series, it will most likely be in the form of a graphic novel.
